It's all but said that geostigma affects those who are at the brink of despair and thinking of suicide. Despite this, as PTSD usually does, Cloud's trauma haunted him. When he was triggered by Elmyra's (misdirected but understandable) resentment of him, he spiraled. It worsened to the point that he became infected with Geostigma, and he isolated himself to misguidedly "protect" his loved ones. And what's your point of the second quote? I never said he didn't move on at the end of AC, I said that the two years between OG and AC weren't as happy as you implied. In fact, Cloud and Tifa's communicative dysfunction in AC and the healthy outcome at the end is one of my favorite parts of the movie. I'm convinced that this is some kind of dreamtime battle between Sephiroth and Aerith. The original story is happening but there's a whole meta story happening too where time and space are being manipulated from beyond the grave by these two who have become more powerful than ever now that they're one with the lifestream. They are both deeply unsatisfied with how they're lives played out and are desperately trying to change things.

Sephiroth tries to stop Aerith from giving white materia to Cloud, but to save the planet Aerith thinks that white materia has to be in Cloud's hand no matter what even if it costs her own life. Unfortunately Cloud doesnt seem to understand, the only thing he wants is not being a failure, his mom, village, Zack, it only makes sense he went crazy to fail again.
Her living would be the same as Jack living at the end of Titanic. A happy ending? Maybe. But the beauty of the story is in their deaths. Her living would be a disrespect to the original story. I have a feeling they may "bring her back" later in the 3rd game, and I wouldn't actually mind that (Rebirth). But just keeping her alive would just destroy everything.

It’s a different Aerith which is how she can express her feelings for him the other Aerith told him in remake not to fall in love with her. The glitches between timelines. When Sephiroth stabs her we see different versions. One with no blood then the glitch then with blood. Tifa sees the same thing. The timelines will come together. There’s still one Aerith alive in Zack’s timeline. How they bring it all together I can’t wait to see.
Honestly I kind of feel like this scene is very undermined by the ending of this game. And even the first game suffers from this problem. And it's not that aerith was "killed" my issue is I don't think this game works as a trilogy of games. I mean so far both games have been amazing and work amazingly but it was a mistake to devide these 3 games up. However I do I understand why it had to be done that way and the word mistake is a harsh way to put it. As I said I feel like we got something amazing but I feel like sacrifices had to be made( like the undermining of this touching emotional scene for example) and for the record on its own it's still emotional and touching but something feels lost having to have devided up the 3 games and I feel like had the devs waited until the tech was able to combine all 3 games into one we could have had one of the most amazing video game experiences ever made. Because I will admit I don't think we are there yet but I think we are getting there.

People usually say the opposite although I think it’s a bit more complicated than just that. Aerith clearly knows this is likely the last if not one of the times she’ll be able to have a peaceful time with Cloud and decides to open up her feelings to him. Clouds response and the Aerith looks at least TO ME; I have to stress this part a lot because shippers get so crazy about it. TO ME their feelings in this moment don’t align whether it be because Cloud doesn’t feel the same way or maybe he does and doesn’t fully understand it or maybe he just brushes it off as typical Aerith behavior and asks why she’s been weird all day. Either way I don’t see this as a rejection from either of them and I doubt Cloud could even answer how he feels about Aerith at the moment anyway. That’s just my response to that as someone that likes Cloud and Tifa together and also NOT a shipper

@@Mchannelw I don’t think that’s what’s happening here personally. If anything a straight forward confession from him to her would greatly get rid of the debate. Or at least you would think it should but even getting something as simple and concrete as a kiss is still hotly debated as being anything than what it is and the game came out like 7 months ago. If they wanted the whole romance thing to be ambiguous they would favor both sides more evenly but they kinda don’t. There’s a lot of little things they do with Tifa that unless I’m completely unaware they don’t do with Aerith. The kiss is one, but there’s also a whole intimate scene where they almost kiss, there’s also a whole book written for Tifa and Aerith to flesh out their backstories where we get Tifas real feelings for Cloud and how she views him. @@Step43099The kiss is optional to keep happy Clotis who other then physical affection don’t understand love at all, and the almost kiss is Tifa going on her own, and confusing Cloud who only wanted to talk about his feelings, but oh Tifa didn’t feel comfortable with that bc she learning that maybe Clouds metal problems are kinda her problem that she makes (conscious or unconscious) don’t matter, she is one of the sole reasons why Cloud has mental breakdown and then without option out needs to fix her shit she fucked up selfishly. Loving Aerith since OG and the perfect casted voice actress threw her into overdrive in remake/rebirth.. To bad they ruined the (spoilers) scene with showing clouds perspective. I think on 3 they will show what really happened just to crush what's left of our hearts..
i hated that part of the game, because the game punch you in the face with many multiple choice moment and when you choose the game shove something we didn't want anyway, it's like telling us, no matter what you do, no matter what you choose you can't change fate... it was at this moment i knew she was destined to die... 😢
They did such a terrible job of a 'love triangle' in this. They made Tifa look second best all the way through in this game and the film AC. Cloud focuses wayyyyy too much on Aerith. They can say its because of guilt etc but in real life, if a guy acted this way, you know there's something more between him and said girl. It's like a forbidden romance. They also make Aerith more likable than Tifa in the way that she understands Cloud better, she's funny, sweet, etc.
Nah, Tifa is very reserved around Cloud because she knows he is not himself, because she _knows_ him. Aerith doesn't and treats him as such, now Aerith does realise, due to being Cetra, that he is not himself, but she does not know how Cloud is when he is "himself", Tifa does. That's why she treads carefully, she noticed his PTSD headaches and those things will be further explored in the third game when she helps Cloud heal his mind. Knowing the second game would end with Aeriths death, of course she'd get more emotional pay off in the end, but what about Tifas entire arch in the lifestream reliving her childhood with Cloud? Or how the game starts with the emotional tension between Tifa and Cloud? And how they _almost_ kissed until Yuffie interupted them? I think they did a marvelous job at bringing all characters to life.

Hand holding is a theme between Cloud and Aerith, it becomes very clear when rewatching the cutscenes. It even shows up in their respective songs (Hollow & No Promises to Keep). I see the appeal behind Tifa, but not necessarily with Tifa × Cloud. That couple just doesn't come across as interesting. That's why Aerith and Cloud's relationship drives the plot (events and respective character development), and not the other way around. *Spoilers* Tifa and Cloud are thought to be childhood friends, but they're really not. Tifa didn't even care about Cloud until he left to try to become a SOLDIER. He wanted a relationship with her so that the other kids would accept him. She never acknowledged him until he tried to change. Aerith immediately accepts Cloud, including his childish ways (Tifa wants a "Hero" version of Cloud, her knight, if you will. Aerith never asks Cloud to put her over himself). Aerith accepts him sooner than any other character in the game, lol. And Cloud compliments her because Aerith (who is generally portrayed as very strong, wise and at times mysterious) is more vulnerable around him. He also refuses to abandon her, which is a core fear she has (abandonment). Tifa is a cool character and I think her character growth is best showcased in that she hasn't needed Cloud the whole time he's been gone, and she still doesn't need him. At least, not like Aerith does.

Nibel incident happened. That’s when Cloud started being more distant from Tifa and her friends even though she didn’t know why. It wasn’t till a few years later when Cloud asked her to meet him at the water tower and told her he was leaving to join Soldier that her feelings became real for him. Which obviously affects the choices she makes when they meet again. Also I’m pretty sure No Promises to Keep was recently said not to be about any particular character by design. I’d have to rewatch that interview and make sure I’m thinking of the right song but I’m pretty sure I am. Despite this, as PTSD usually does, Cloud's trauma haunted him. When he was triggered by Elmyra's (misdirected but understandable) resentment of him, he spiraled. It worsened to the point that he became infected with Geostigma, and he isolated himself to misguidedly "protect" his loved ones.
And what's your point of the second quote? I never said he didn't move on at the end of AC, I said that the two years between OG and AC weren't as happy as you implied. In fact, Cloud and Tifa's communicative dysfunction in AC and the healthy outcome at the end is one of my favorite parts of the movie. It's only after forgiving himself for Aerith and Zack that he can be capable of focusing on loving his current family instead of the should haves and might have beens that he's hung up on between OG and AC. i.e, "Which is it? Us? Or...a memory?"

Yet he ultimately cannot be because these things are haunting him. No amount of dodgy, decontextualized quotes are going to change the narrative that Cloud struggled mentally throughout the 8 years between Crisis Core and Advent Children. His struggles are literally the point of his character arc, the main idea of FFVII. Also, admittedly this is just a nitpick, but can we acknowledge that the business was actually Barrett's idea and Marlene is literally HIS daughter, please. I'm convinced that this is some kind of dreamtime battle between Sephiroth and Aerith. The original story is happening but there's a whole meta story happening too where time and space are being manipulated from beyond the grave by these two who have become more powerful than ever now that they're one with the lifestream. They are both deeply unsatisfied with how they're lives played out and are desperately trying to change things.
This makes absolutely sense. I am an og fan i am 37* now. This is what it is. It came to my mind about Sephiroth also being a victim in a way and trying to change his fate. And Areith as well this so sad and awesome😢

Sephiroth tries to stop Aerith from giving white materia to Cloud, but to save the planet Aerith thinks that white materia has to be in Cloud's hand no matter what even if it costs her own life. Unfortunately Cloud doesnt seem to understand, the only thing he wants is not being a failure, his mom, village, Zack, it only makes sense he went crazy to fail again.

Her living would be the same as Jack living at the end of Titanic. A happy ending? Maybe. But the beauty of the story is in their deaths. Her living would be a disrespect to the original story. I have a feeling they may "bring her back" later in the 3rd game, and I wouldn't actually mind that (Rebirth). But just keeping her alive would just destroy everything.

It’s a different Aerith which is how she can express her feelings for him the other Aerith told him in remake not to fall in love with her. The glitches between timelines. When Sephiroth stabs her we see different versions. One with no blood then the glitch then with blood. Tifa sees the same thing. The timelines will come together. There’s still one Aerith alive in Zack’s timeline. How they bring it all together I can’t wait to see.
Honestly I kind of feel like this scene is very undermined by the ending of this game. And even the first game suffers from this problem. And it's not that aerith was "killed" my issue is I don't think this game works as a trilogy of games. I mean so far both games have been amazing and work amazingly but it was a mistake to devide these 3 games up. However I do I understand why it had to be done that way and the word mistake is a harsh way to put it. As I said I feel like we got something amazing but I feel like sacrifices had to be made( like the undermining of this touching emotional scene for example) and for the record on its own it's still emotional and touching but something feels lost having to have devided up the 3 games and I feel like had the devs waited until the tech was able to combine all 3 games into one we could have had one of the most amazing video game experiences ever made. Because I will admit I don't think we are there yet but I think we are getting there.

People usually say the opposite although I think it’s a bit more complicated than just that. Aerith clearly knows this is likely the last if not one of the times she’ll be able to have a peaceful time with Cloud and decides to open up her feelings to him. Clouds response and the Aerith looks at least TO ME; I have to stress this part a lot because shippers get so crazy about it. TO ME their feelings in this moment don’t align whether it be because Cloud doesn’t feel the same way or maybe he does and doesn’t fully understand it or maybe he just brushes it off as typical Aerith behavior and asks why she’s been weird all day. Either way I don’t see this as a rejection from either of them and I doubt Cloud could even answer how he feels about Aerith at the moment anyway. That’s just my response to that as someone that likes Cloud and Tifa together and also NOT a shipper

@@Mchannelw I don’t think that’s what’s happening here personally. If anything a straight forward confession from him to her would greatly get rid of the debate. Or at least you would think it should but even getting something as simple and concrete as a kiss is still hotly debated as being anything than what it is and the game came out like 7 months ago. If they wanted the whole romance thing to be ambiguous they would favor both sides more evenly but they kinda don’t. There’s a lot of little things they do with Tifa that unless I’m completely unaware they don’t do with Aerith. The kiss is one, but there’s also a whole intimate scene where they almost kiss, there’s also a whole book written for Tifa and Aerith to flesh out their backstories where we get Tifas real feelings for Cloud and how she views him. Now idk how much of that will be in the third game but it would feel very odd to me to do all that and still try to pretend the love triangle is ambiguous for the fans you know what I mean? But maybe I’m just crazy who knows really.

They did such a terrible job of a 'love triangle' in this. They made Tifa look second best all the way through in this game and the film AC. Cloud focuses wayyyyy too much on Aerith. They can say its because of guilt etc but in real life, if a guy acted this way, you know there's something more between him and said girl. It's like a forbidden romance.
They also make Aerith more likable than Tifa in the way that she understands Cloud better, she's funny, sweet, etc.
Nah, Tifa is very reserved around Cloud because she knows he is not himself, because she _knows_ him. Aerith doesn't and treats him as such, now Aerith does realise, due to being Cetra, that he is not himself, but she does not know how Cloud is when he is "himself", Tifa does.
That's why she treads carefully, she noticed his PTSD headaches and those things will be further explored in the third game when she helps Cloud heal his mind.
Knowing the second game would end with Aeriths death, of course she'd get more emotional pay off in the end, but what about Tifas entire arch in the lifestream reliving her childhood with Cloud? Or how the game starts with the emotional tension between Tifa and Cloud? And how they _almost_ kissed until Yuffie interupted them?
I think they did a marvelous job at bringing all characters to life.

Hand holding is a theme between Cloud and Aerith, it becomes very clear when rewatching the cutscenes. It even shows up in their respective songs (Hollow & No Promises to Keep).
I see the appeal behind Tifa, but not necessarily with Tifa × Cloud. That couple just doesn't come across as interesting. That's why Aerith and Cloud's relationship drives the plot (events and respective character development), and not the other way around.
*Spoilers* Tifa and Cloud are thought to be childhood friends, but they're really not. Tifa didn't even care about Cloud until he left to try to become a SOLDIER. He wanted a relationship with her so that the other kids would accept him. She never acknowledged him until he tried to change.
Aerith immediately accepts Cloud, including his childish ways (Tifa wants a "Hero" version of Cloud, her knight, if you will. Aerith never asks Cloud to put her over himself). Aerith accepts him sooner than any other character in the game, lol. And Cloud compliments her because Aerith (who is generally portrayed as very strong, wise and at times mysterious) is more vulnerable around him. He also refuses to abandon her, which is a core fear she has (abandonment).
Tifa is a cool character and I think her character growth is best showcased in that she hasn't needed Cloud the whole time he's been gone, and she still doesn't need him. At least, not like Aerith does.
@@corcoroli2974if we’re going by what the developers have set up as the canon of the story as of rn 2024; Cloud and Tifa were really close as kids up until Tifas mom died and the Mt. Nibel incident happened. That’s when Cloud started being more distant from Tifa and her friends even though she didn’t know why. It wasn’t till a few years later when Cloud asked her to meet him at the water tower and told her he was leaving to join Soldier that her feelings became real for him. Which obviously affects the choices she makes when they meet again. Also I’m pretty sure No Promises to Keep was recently said not to be about any particular character by design. I’d have to rewatch that interview and make sure I’m thinking of the right song but I’m pretty sure I am.

Crisis core is a pivotal part in ff7, it completes the circle, giving the fans a more understanding to why everything is the way it is in ff7, and fans who played from ps1 up till psp knows that.

Everyone calm down! I beat the game and got my date with her. She literally says in the date, “You’re NOT Zack! But that’s ok!” Clearly she has strong feelings for Zack but she’ll settle for Cloud. No man ever wants to be the “Transition Guy.” Cloud is literally just filler for Aerith right now! Can you imagine if a woman told you, I really wanted to be with guy X, but he’s dead, so I’ll just settle for you. Talk about emotional damage. You can see that Cloud knows he’s not the man of her dreams but he caves in to alleviate her pain and longing for her lost love. Zack was the love of her life! She literally says this too.
