    i ship Jesper and Wylan like crazy, so I kind of died when Jesper said something like "You can use your equations to get girls" or something like that, and then they look at each other in silence before wylan says "just girls?" omg yes wylan, LET JESPY KNOW THAT YOU'RE INTERESTED HNNNNGHF~

    Oh my god, FINALLY someone who actually appreciates Jesper as a character! I feel like so many people seem to miss the point when they talk about him and think he's a boring character, but you seem to really get it! I'm so excited to see what he decides to do about being a Grisha.

      +Kat F I adore all of the characters honestly but yeah I don't think he gets as much love as some of the other ones. I'm really looking forward to him maybe embracing his powers?! He has to be pretty powerful if he did what he did while being out of practice.

    I just finished Six of Crows and I'm still high on adrenalin because of how GOOD I found it.
    I agree with you on pretty much everything - I ADORE how Kaz has a limp, yet he's ridiculously meticulous in his plan making.
    Nina was definitely my favourite character - her sass connected to my soul. I reckon that her love for Matthias brings out her empathy as well as her teaching him empathy for Grisha, because imagine if she didn't have any ties to the Fjerdan's at all - she would probably wreak havoc.
    Ugh it was so damn good. I already wanna re-read it.

    This book. This book. Gah. I'm still not over it.
    I don't even know if I have words for Kaz and Inej. Kaz is precious and crafty and brilliant. He's so twisted and determined. He's fascinating to follow. His struggle to realize his feelings and what he can do about it. Inej is just perfection.
    I broke down and cried at the end when I realized that Wylan was going up every night just to stand next to Jesper. Ugh. I just realized it before it was confirmed and just lost it. I love Jesper. And his banter with Wylan was just so great.
    The plot was so brilliantly paced too. The balance between progressing the heist, giving character backstories, and developing their personalities. It just all ended up feeling so good.

      +Ashley Dominique (AshleyEpidemic) Kaz and Inej rip out my heart and stomp on it and I love them for it.
      I cannot wait to see what happens with Jesper and Wylan. Precious cinnamon buns!

    I can't even... I just finished it about an hour ago, and was just floored. Everyone was so complex, and the plot! and these stupid couples! When Matthias was like,"Nina... little red bird. Don't go." I lost it. Also yes, Inej calling out Kaz, and then Kaz being all I will save her and she will go out! Ugh crazy cupcakes. Someone please just sedate me.

    Finished Six of Crows this morning and immediately picked up Crooked Kingdom. I had to come back and watch this video (now that I wouldn't be spoiled) because I know how much you loved it and I just enjoy hearing you talk about these books so very much 😊 I loved it too by the way, and am really enjoying Crooked Kingdom. I'll look up your gush video for that one when I finish the book 😉

    Literally just put this book down and wanted to watch this immediately to see your gush! I LOOOOVE Kaz and Inej's relationship too!! I imagine their relationship playing out like Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean somewhat but where she's the pirate being all badass taking down slavers and he is in Ketterdam like completely ruling it and they come together but still are their own super badass person? Omgosh I just can't wait until the next book. I wish it was like a 6-book series!

    Ohmygosh anytime they mentioned Ravka I just became so happy and nostalgic ahaha. I kept on wondering how Nikolai and everyone else was faring and also what about those stolen Ravkan documents?? I also was so happy when I read that Inej named one of her knives after Alina!

    I just finished the book so I can finally watch this!
    I think what I found fantastic about the book was of course the characters but namely Inej.She's definitely the glue that held everything together, despite being quiet she was able to have meaningful relationships with almost everyone. Espeically Nina. But she's so inquisitive when it came to Matthius and his struggle of being a solider or traitor.
    And I LOVE how she didn't settle for anything less with Kaz. I'm so ecited for the sequel cause we're gonna see a very human side to Kaz. And I may die of happiness whenever Kanej reunites.
    Also Nina and the drug!!! I'm positive she'll make it through with the help of another Grisha.
    Also,the references to the original Grisha trilogy was so cool. But I definitely loved this book the most

    I read it in one sitting, which I knew was going to happen. I loooved it so much. I also loved that you mentioned (in your spoiler-free review) that it reminded you of Mistborn because that's immediately what I thought of. I don't want to talk about any spoilers because someone will probably yell at me. So the only other thing I can think of that I adored was Inej and Nina's friendship HELL YES. I loved their scenes and dialogue SO MUCH.

    • @ThoughtsOnTomes
      @ThoughtsOnTomes  6 років тому

      I definitely recommend reading the original trilogy. It adds way more to the world and there's so many easter eggs especially in Crooked Kingdom that I really do feel you need the knowledge from the original trilogy.

  • @guelamunda1488

    • @ThoughtsOnTomes

      I'd recommend it. Especially for the second book, there are a lot of things that won't be as important for you if you don't read the trilogy first. Plus I've heard a few reviews now where people didn't read the trilogy first and felt they were missing something.

  • @salenaswan7471
    @salenaswan7471 6 років тому +2

    Critics poke at the age ‘issue’ far too much. honest to godz, it’s like they don’t get that people who have trauma when they’re young, typically mature a lot faster and are able to handle more adult responsibilities. Super annoying, Great review! Good luck with crooked kingdom, the romance for the most part concludes nicely in that book.

    • @agnesverga673
      @agnesverga673 4 роки тому +2

      Yes! That annoys me as well. Plus, Leigh confirmed the general time period of the book was based on the 1860’s, and you were basically an adult by the time you were a teenager. It would be more weird if the Crows weren’t more mature because of their trauma than if they acted like adults

    • @salenaswan7471

    I just finished this book and wrote my review, so obviously I had to drop by and watch this!
    I didn't love Inej as much as you did, because the daggers named after saints thing sort of threw me off (because she had one for Alina and Alina was not a saint do you get me here?) but I cannot deny that she is such a strong and complex character, as were all 6 of them, to be honest.
    My favorite character has to be Kaz, though, because he was just so smart and pretty much a mastermind, but he was only this succesful because of the crew he had around him.
    I loved Nina and Matthias as separate characters and as a couple (I really wanted to know more about their journy after the shipwreck) and I am really interested to see what Leigh has in store for them.
    Jasper and Wylan were amazing and their banter made me crack up when I really shouldn't (*cough* "just girls?" *cough*) and I don't even know if they are friends or more than friends but I'm down for any one of those options, really.
    I am also anxiously awaiting to see if Wylan gets changed back??!?!?! I mean he has to!....right?!
    The ending left me really eager for the next book but it also felt quite fitting for the story, given the fact that the entire book has been suspenseful. I am looking forward to Crooked Kingdom, though! It's going to be epic.

    • @ThoughtsOnTomes
      @ThoughtsOnTomes  9 років тому +4

      +Theo Potterhead But that's the whole point. Everyone thought Alina was a saint! To the Ravkan people, she was a saint and savior. They all think she's dead and a martyr. I love that tie in.
      I need more about the Nina Matthias shipwreck as well. Give us a novella Leigh!
      I definitely think we are going to get some Jasper Wylan couple stuff in the next book.
      I already need Crooked Kingdom!!!
