- In this video I go over what I think the current problems with Selkirk Labs are, my thoughts and what they could do to fix those issues and have more happy labs members.

Such a great review of the labs experience, and breakdown on improvements. I personally agree with all your recommendations. Keep up the great content. My favorite pickleball channel.
My 002 came with a $50 Selkirk Gift Card. So it kinda made the $333 feel a little less painful.
I feel like we have little to no guarantee there will be a "mass production" version.
They could also end up selling the paddle alone for more than $212
My complaint about R & D being outsourced was that it was done without compensation. Your point about giving early investors a discount code or a free paddle when it goes to market is exactly what should be done. I love that a company wants to respond to users input and use that for R & D, just not for free!
Your videos are great, answering the right questions. They could have charged $350 and given us that expensive bag, branded uniquely to that paddle. If the point is to show off your expensive paddle, and to show everybody you play only the best, why not a cool bag to walk in the gym?
Keep up the super work!
I totally agree. I love my Selkirk paddles and their warranty and customer service is second to none, but charging a premium to test unproven equipment is a little crazy. Like you said they should be giving a huge discount to do this for them.
Love your speed cube talents, bro!
I bought the 001 because the 002 was sold out! I could not stand the 001. It had NO power! I returned it and bought a Crbn 1 and a Joola Hyperion. Sorta backfired.
I put in a request but when I saw the cost of the paddle, decided not to go further. Thought it was a scam to sell more extremely high priced paddles. Didn’t realize it was the cost of cover and a metal card I would never use, probably throw away. Bit of a misstep by Selkirk. Lost respect for them.
I love my labs 003 epic, people who hate when they have not even tried a product are just haters, not a real customer.
I like your honesty thank you for that
Great honest and in-depth review and opinions and comparisons. Take a look at the new on the market. "mater athletics" Pickleball Paddle. They also make Paddle Tennis paddles.
Selkirk should be paying you to advise them. Far more common sense and well stated ideas.
Agreed. All legit points. Give the people what they deserve!
I was hoping you would give us your feeling about the way that the paddle pays - slams, drip-shots, lobs, volleys, etc. Do you think it would have helped when you played Zane Navratl?
Just got the Air-S2.
Love the power n spin. It was tough to lay out the $$ for it. After using it for a short time it seems like the "one piece" design is putting stress on my elbow (some of my shots do this ad well, soo?)
Anyone else "feeling" anything??
That said, I looked at returning and getting 003
But price was really up there...
Thoughts..?
Thanks..
Someone a few days ago hit the paddle going for the ball with his partner and the paddle crack on the side 003 Epic......
I told you man! That card should have been an NFT hahaha
I like your reviews.
If a manufacturer of anything wants me to beta test their products, they should be offering a discount, not charging a premium. If the final version of a paddle will sell for $200, I'll pay $125 to test it, not $300+. I'm accepting the risk that the product may be inferior, and will take the time to provide feedback.
Selkirk labs should take applications for testers at various levels and make those paddles available to the testers. I do not want to pay a premium to work for the company.
I think a more honest approach would have been along the lines of "Early release premium beta club" rather than trying to frame it as a lab where beta testers have to pay an exorbitant amount for an unknown quality of paddle.
Speed cube????
If they get 1,000 people to spend 333 then that is 333,000. Not bad
I would not spend 333 for a paddle
Nice thumbnail!
Babolat RNGD Touch costs 10 bucks more than the case and it's a better paddle.
Labs puts a bad taste in my mouth, it appears to be all marketing. I would much rather just have the paddle at a cheaper price. Keep labs private and not try to make $ on it.
"How to improve it"? Get a Joola Ben Johns CFS 16 mm paddle and put Selkirk's name on the faces.
Labs is the Apple of pickleball. There are players at my local club that always have to have the "latest and greatest" paddle that's released no matter what, and this is no exception. They could have just bought a paddle 2 weeks ago, but they'll show up with something new regardless of what it is. They walk around with their nose in the air boasting about their new paddle that no one else has, meanwhile they have no idea they are getting clowned behind their backs for paying $333.00 for a paddle that doesn't improve their game in the slightest.
Confirms my suspicion that this program is for suckers. Saw a guy at my local courts with a 002 and couldn't help but laugh a little bit at least he didn't have the 001.
$88 for a case, lolol
