I'm right there with you! I'm a recently retired teacher and trying to find a new routine for myself. I live in a farming community in my small track house. I'm learning how to use my space to be more self-sufficient. Today I realized I spent my morning building on my container vegetable and then I went into the kitchen to finish the sour dough bread I started yesterday. I'm understanding the value of working in small amounts of time and breaking projects into smaller steps. I love your channel. I look forward to all of your new postings. Thanks for all of the sharing you do!
Hi Catherine! It's always good to see you! We're both in the education field! The day you described sounds exactly like a farm girl morning routine! It's truly a blessing to have just enough to keep you busy/productive, but even in a small lot, you and I both know there are enough projects to keep you plenty busy. As always, I appreciate the encouragement, we all need it!
Everything about this beautiful woman excites me, but what attracted me the most is I can tell that she is a critical thinker and analytical reasoner who owns her own mind and only observes “Groupthink” from outside the box.
Girl, I could not believe that I found it! It retails for 200.00 which would not be in my budget, but I thrifted it off of FB marketplace for $60.00. I"m so excited to use it this summer. I included links about it in the description box. Def. keep your eyes open for one!
I am a farm girl sort of. I have been canning for 45 years. I have been a widow for 16 years. I live in the midwest. It is a great place to homestead. There are a lot of us here. I have at least a year's supply of food for me and my Mom. She is blind and 92 so about 4 years ago I retired and began caring for her. She has at least an acre here where I constantly battle groundhogs and geese in my garden. We are not able to have livestock due to zoning, but we live on a lake with lots of fish. My grandson's provide us with venison which I can and freeze. Just love your plans. I would love to do the same, but I may have to restrict myself to gardening and canning. Just being practical, not sure I could manage much more at my age by myself once Mom is gone. I am where God wants me right now. My favorite thing you do is showing me how to use the items you can. I would love if you could do more with that, I often make something and then am unsure what else I can do with it. Happy canning, keep up the good work.
Hello Janet! I can only imagine all of the wonderful recipes the jars in your pantry have held! I want to be your when I grow up! You're so right, the midwest is a stunning area to homestead. I couldn't agree more when you shared, "I'm where God wants me right now"---and you're doing the most with what you have and still seeing his provision. I can tell that HE is your strength because you've got a lot to manage both in and outside of your home. The fact that you have a stocked lake and lovely grandson's that bring you venison sounds lovely. I will continue to share my canning recipes and I'm so glad you find them helpful. I have a combination of food preservation, and small space gardening videos. I hope you're having a great week!
Next week I will be 59. It took 36 years to get where we are. I love it, would not change anything. Do not give up on anything. In your heart you are already there. Just have to keep going. You will get there.
Hi Sue! This is sooo sweet! And I couldn't agree more with taking your time. I think its a blessing to build up to your dream, that way you're not overwhelmed along the way.
Atomic Habits is a great read! Habit stacking just makes so much sense. As a fellow “crazy” (early 40’s, corporate warrior, living on a small suburban lot - and dreaming of a rural move, so trying to do as much as I can now to learn and prepare), I loved your thought that “Every action is a vote for the person you want to be”. Totally speaks to me! PS. A piece of old yoga mat is great for protecting your bench top when you clamp your tomato mill 😉
Hello Emma! Haha, yes, I'm in the craziness with you (but we've both figured out that its so worth it). I know you couldn't see it, but I had tucked an cut of an old rag to protect my counters. I had watched plenty of videos sharing that the mild friction could cut into your counters and I certainly didn't want that. A few years ago I wouldn't felt overwhelmed thinking that I could can multiple projects and have a mostly from scratch fridge, and now, its almost second nature, which allows me to focus on other areas I want to improve. I'm under no illusion that a land-based homestead is serious work, and I truly believe that the more skills you have going into a move will decrease the frustration by all the new and unexpected skills that I'll have to learn to manage. There's no shame in small beginnings!
I love that you’ve turned your waiting room into a classroom! I’m so happy you’re channel has grown so much, I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. The videos you make are so involved, educational, energetic and most of all valuable!
I felt everything you spoke on. Being an urban farm girl is challenging, yet sooo extremely rewarding. I too have been looking for a tomato food mil. One day, I’ll find one that works for me, and my kitchen. Thank you for all you do, and all you share. You are appreciated! 👸🏽💐😊
Hello Clausen World! There are so many options when it comes to food mills, and having not had one, I realized this season I needed one because doing things by hand with a grater was no longer feasible or scalable for how much I intend to preserve this year. I appreciate your encouragement so very much.
@@BecomingaFarmGirl I’m thinking if my tomatoes produce how I’d like. I will have a tomato mill this year.😁 I’m not going to try to process them all by hand. Thanks again. You ROCK!😊💐
I just love you! I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home & your routine is exactly how I live my life. I stay up later & prep, get up earlier & start my canner, lunch time is dehydrator time. Prepping & growing starts for my garden, sour dough feeding & bread learning skills. I can go on & on... Did I mention I'm a "Suburbs / City Girl"? Love our growing community. Do whatever you can, whenever you can!
Hi Michelle! You are living the dream! As these skills become routine, they fall so easily into your daily/weekly schedule so you can truly see "the fruits of your labor." There are truly benefits to living a homestead life in the suburbs/city, and joy along the journey can be had even without "acres and animals." I hope you're having a great week!
Cassandra, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. We have been following multiple homestead channels for about 5 years now. Four years ago we helped my son buy his ten acre homestead. Which happened to have a duplex on it. We got his side rehabbed and he and his new wife moved in Sept of 2020. Last March we got chickens, and goats and pigs over the summer. We remodeled and sold our home in Sept 21, and did major downsizing. We are currently remodeling our side of the duplex and will move in in about 2 months. We've started gardens. We are clearing heavy forest to make silvo pasture over the coming year. We bought a green house to erect once we get trees cleared for that. This has been a lifetime dream finally coming true. We are so proud of your energy and tenacity, and your start where you are spirit! I got my husband to watch you tonight. He was just as charmed by you as I am. You are so inspiring. We are proud of you. Keep up the creative work. You are so good at EVERYTHING you do.
SONIA! Firstly, thank you for such a sweet compliment. Whoa! I feel so humbled by that because there's still so much I want to learn and do. The joint homestead purchase you've done with your son is what I hope to do with my parents (I've shared your comment with my dad, who still needs a little nudging :). Between my husband retiring from the Navy in a few years, and the hope that my parents will move back up north and a few other things are the "strings" that will keep us in our townhome for a while longer. Even still, God is good and I'm learning so much while in my waiting room. I truly appreciate that you shared your story with me--I'm very much encouraged by it!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl P.S. Remind your dad that nearness to grandkids is the coolest benefit! (Mind you we don't have any yet, prayers gratefully accepted😉.) Also, with gas prices rising and no foreseeable reprieve, the getting to seeing grandbabies will be less costly! Figure out what your Dad(parents?) motivators are and work that angle.😎(shameless cheesy grin emoticon goes here) We do frequently remind ourselves that we need to maintain boundaries. I absolutely adore my DIL and don't want to upset things. But we do share animal and garden chores and cover each other when we go out of town. It takes the isolation and overwhelm out of homesteading. So far its working beautifully. (We rent a little bardominium about 1.5 miles from the homestead while we are remodeling.) Both parents and adult children need to be very intentional about boundaries. I have no doubt you will be able to do this. Loved seeing your Dad taste testing the carrot cake jam!
I love your enthusiasm, dedication, and conviction to homesteading. I am interested in having you involved in 2 collabs I am planning. That is not just because you are another channel, but because I love your approach, sense of community, and ability to blend in with a very impressive end product for the viewer. KEEP UP THE AWESOME JOB!
I have been in such a cooking rut with life stress but listening to this video a few times while cleaning the kitchen gives me the motivation I need to get back into making more from scratch. Can't thank you enough for this positive, motivating video at just the right moment in my life!
So relatable lol. I’ve started a 4X4 square foot garden this year and I work full time so I’m trying to fit all this new homesteading knowledge in. Thank you!☺️
Girl, I get it! It's so easy to become overhwhelmed because there are ALOT skills to learn and lifestyle changes to make as you adopt a homestead mentality and practices. I've learned you've gotta give yourself grace and more credit for the things you manage to get done, and realize that you'll scale over time. Truly, all the work has made me realize that I"m happy I'm still in a townhome because I have time to really get systems in place that'll become second nature. Keep going, you've got this!
Just saw your channel on my feed and I'm so excited to watch your videos! It's my first year gardening, canning, preserving, tincture-making, fermenting...all the things! Go farm girls!
Thanks for sharing your book for small habits making a difference. I'm thinning out my clutter and reading books on breaks. That apple pie jam looked scrumptious! And, I appreciate your words of encouragement ☮️💚🌿!
Cassandra, Amen Sister! Little changes do make a difference… I love your food strainer, so well built! I wanna be that first person so Congratulate you on hitting your first 10k friends with more to come!!!! You so deserve it!
LeAnne! Sweet friend, you have been so kind to me and opened doors for me to meet so many more wonderful friends. I cannot thank you enough. Getting to where you are is so much my goal!
Here's to tiny changes and remarkable results! I love it! I'm right here with you. I've been bercoming a farm girl too, in Alaska! I'm watching you now, so glad I came across your channel. Thank you, from Alaska.
Your channel is so fun and inspiring. I’m a long-time homesteader/farmer. We sold our 18 acre farm in December and are in the process of building our dream mountain homestead. I find myself in a “waiting room” while living in a camper during the process. It’s been a little discouraging, but your videos keep me excited and remind me to use this time to study and skill-up. Thank you for offering your valuable time to inspire others. God bless you.
Hello Hallowed Oak Farm! Wow...an mountain homestead is the stuff that dreams are made of--CONGRATS on your upcoming forever home. I can only imagine that the transition from an large 18-acre homestead to a camper is night and day. The different seasons in life certainly have their tradeoffs, but focusing on the advantages to whatever circumstance I'm in is what keep my head and heart thankful. Right now I can harvest fresh herbs and produce from my garden to kitchen in just a few steps, "extra" funds are going towards kitchen equipment like canning jars and other tools (dehydrators, mills, etc.), I'm learning what my family prefers to eat, and having time to just read and research so that I can make informed rather than rushed decisions is a luxury I won't have as much when we have a larger place that requires more time. Philippians 4:12- I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content!
Hello lady! It's good to see ya! My pastor "keeps it real and quick"-I grew up in a Pentecostal church, and while I loved it, whew, those Sunday sermons would take hours sometimes! Hope you're having a great week!
Farm girl here🙋🏼♀️and a single mom with grandkids and I work 43+ hours a week I couldn’t buy a farm but I did buy a house in town with a big backyard and I’m turning it into my little homestead I got the garden up and running now I’m thinking rabbits and teaching my grandkids like my grandma taught me love your videos have a blessed day
Amy! The illustration of what you've done with your current home is such an encouragement to me! Yes! This is absolutely the mindset and action we all can take. I haven't even added kids to the mix (yet) so hats off to you! Rethinking what it means to farm and live more sustainably can coincide with working outside of your home, not living in the country, etc. Thank you for sharing this!!!
I am retired but still garden and you know I can, dehydrate, ferment, etc. I have my celery and butternut squash fermenting now. I adore you and your creativity. I can't wait for your next videos, FACTS. be Blessed.
Hi Martha! You're too sweet, and thank you for entertaining my homestead dream and canning recipes. It's so nice to finally have friends, like you, that get excited along with me! Keep me posted on how you enjoy the celery and butternut squash ferments! Isn't putting food in jars both addictive, delicious, and practical? Good to see you, Martha!
I always love the camera work in your videos, the content is often relaxing and inspiring at the same time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and journey with us!
Thank you so much for this series!!! You make all of this seem so attainable, and exciting! I just moved into a new place with my boyfriend and after watching your videos we stopped on the side of the road to buy some veggie starts to add to our garden! I am excited to try something new as well like canning or just making my own condiments! Idk where to start really, but I'm excited to start something new!!!!
What a great topic! There are so many of us balancing jobs and homesteading. I'm grateful to be partially retired, working 3 days a week. Love your videos!
Hi Deborah! I cannot agree more. What a smart way to ease into retirement with a partial schedule. Over the course of a few weeks, months and years, you'd be surprise how much its possible to learn and stock up on. It's a busy life, but rewarding for sure!
I just got diagnosis of Cardiomyopathy, and have been forced into a semi-retirement and I was born a "farm girl" lol, but have lived, worked and raised my kids in the cities of south Ontario Canada. I'm very into wild foraging in the city and educating ppl on eatable greens and produce that grows wild and free! I would very much like to start making my own wild crated wine ;-) love your videos!
Thank you for the encouragement sis! You make it look so easy! Going to get there tho. We're getting raised beds this spring so I've gotta binge again to prep for harvest 😂. Hope you are doing well 🥰
That's the spirit, girl! Over time, it does become easier (many times are an initial trial run). I'm so excited for your raised garden beds! You'll be able to grow s much and have a long term growing solution. Blessings to you and yours, dear friend!
Loved today's vlog! I'm home recovering from spine surgery and sitting here in a neck brace wishing I could do all the things I'm specifically told I can't do. However, your vlog today reminded me that there are things I can do that will further my goals. Reading, planning, resting, organizing my thoughts and cataloging what I don't need any longer. It requires a level of patience that I am now improving upon. I will not be canning for a few weeks yet and gardening will probably not look like what I call gardening but little steps will get made and I will be practicing pacing myself and looking before leaping. It's all good. Thank you!
Hello Lady! I was hoping to "see" you again! You've been in my prayers for a full recovery and I'm happy to hear this was a timely message for you! Patience is certainly the hardest part, but over time you'll see your pace improve. Continue to take good care, my friend!
this vlog was fabulous. WTG. As a farm girl, we've waited a long time to be in the "cool" group but nows the time. Keep the faith, it's all about the joys in the journey
You named it Cindy! It's all about joys in the journey. The "muscle memory" you build around knowing how to preserve your own food, make your own remedies, and offset even a portion of your food or herbs by growing your own is such a needed and empowering skill! Hope you're having a great week!
I really enjoy your channel, Cassandra! I am in higher education at a major land grant university way out west and time is limited. However, I still find time to grow a modest garden and to can/dehydrate/freeze to preserve foods. Right now I am mostly living off 2020-2021 food (and those lower prices) which is helpful. I quite like your style and the cooking tips you give before canning instructions. Thank you for sharing with lucky us!
Hi Linda! Thank you so much for the kind words! I hear you on limited time and balancing a full time career. In many ways, my homesteading tasks give me a way to unplug from that "world" and restore/still feel productive with my home time as I preserve and grow what we can. I cannot thank the LORD enough that I started canning/fermenting, growing years before all the last few years of craziness. Price increases have been insane, and like you, I'm still eating off of 2020-21 (and a few things from 2019 to be honest...mostly green beans). While I am so encouraged by watching larger farm channels, us "small living folks" have plenty of tips/production/and joy along the journey too!
I love the modern yeoman and his UA-cam channel! He has a homestead and the motto for his homestead is slowly, slowly. Watching this video makes me want to go through and watch all of your videos! Homemade apple cider vinegar, homemade pectin, sourdough starter! All of the things that I want to learn about. I hope I find them on your channel! And you're getting quail! That's so exciting! Not sure where you're at but most States quail is not considered a farm animal. So they are highly recommended for people living in cities. Can't wait to watch the progress!
Thank you so much for their channel recommendation! They seem like a lovely couple and I couldn't agree more with his motto. I'm super excited about the quail as well and will certainly keep you posted!
I just started with quail a few months ago. It's been a cool experience. This was the first time I incubated eggs. So far I haven't gotten eggs from my quail, hopefully soon. I enjoyed the process so much that I ordered more eggs.
Hello KatieBelle! I am so excited to hear that you've recently started a journey with quail as well! I've just ordered my eggs so the journey has begun! How large is your covey and what breed did you select? Hopefully I'll have eggs in the next few months too! Keep me posted!
Your channel is such a treasure. And I would just like to point out that I appreciate how environmentally conscious your lifestyle is! With the thrifting, gardening, canning/preserving, supporting local farmers - you’re basically an eco warrior and I am loving it!
Hello Lindsay (so good to see ya). Totally, sister! It's come to the point where the "intrigue" of retail stores just can't compare with the quality and character I can get from thrifted items. The convenience of maintaining even a small garden makes meal time special when you can add fresh herbs and lettuces for pennies on what you'll pay at the grocery store. It's totally the good life and I'm so glad you know it, too!
This video has come at an ideal time!!! We have Spring Break next week. My Vitamin D levels are increasing so that I don't feel completely exhausted all the time and I might have the energy to get my onions and potatoes in the ground next week and hopefully get some cleaning/organizing done along with--hopefully--some canning!!!
Woot! Woot for spring break (and for more daylight---I hear you on that one)! I certainly don't get everything I want to, done, but seeing how much faser/more projects I can tackle each year shows that making a routine/habit out of things really does help! Enjoy a much deserved break!
I recently found your channel.I have been binge watching.Your videos are very encouraging.I to am on a journey to be more self sufficient through growing and preserving my own food.
You are more than welcome, sweet friend! You'd be surprised how even "the little bit" adds up. I surely don't get everything I want to accomplished, but its way more than what I could pull over a year or two ago. Be encouraged, and start small!
You've got this, JoAnn! Starting small and adding skills over time is the way to go. Within a few months you'll truly start to see "the fruits of your labor" which only motivates you to do more! Always good to see you!
You are amazing and your content is always informative, entertaining and unlike any other homesteader that I follow. I love that you are outside of the box when it comes to the things you can, which encouraged me to do the same. I love that if, or when things get worse I will be eating the food that I've prepared and love. I started canning in Sept, skipped only one month since then but I'm running out of space to store it. I'm about to start gardening this coming week and my dehydrator is on the way. I live in an apartment and I cant keep a plant alive for the life of me, but I'm going for it anyway, lol!.Pray for me and wish me luck Thanks for all that you do and the encouragement you provide to others. Been with you now for over a year and I love everything you do and share. Blessings in abundance to you and your family.
Hello Teyanna! Girl, I connect with everything you are saying. I included a sneak peak of my basement steps canning pantry but for the past 2 years our tiny basement and my cabinets have been a wreck figuring out where/how to organize all of these jars I collected over the years. It's craziness but I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so proud of you for starting in an apartment. Food preservation is such an essential homesteading skill and luckily its not one that you need lots of land (or even a big kitchen) to do. After canning lots of the basics, I realized that I wanted to explore more "ready made" sauces, jams, etc. and its only feed my OCD! I'm sending the love and encouragement I felt in your comment right back at ya! We've got this and are truly becoming farm girls!!!
Brilliant!!! I love that!!! And... homemade pectin?!? SIGN ME UP!!! Literally one of the only things keeping me from making my own jelly and jam is the pectin. If there is a white powder other than flour, salt, and sugar… Then I am suspicious of it. I’m going to have to go through your backlog of videos and see what all you have! I’ve been watching homesteading videos for about seven years. I don’t know what got me onto it, but it just seem like the right thing to do. Now that I finally have some time to myself and some extra pocket change, I think I’m ready to get this ball rolling! 💙💙💙
Hello GippyWhite! I was the same way! For years I was like, "why am I watching homesteading videos" (this is when we lived in an apartment) but honey, the lifestyle just clicked on the common sense part, and how much it saves my sanity. I have a homemade pectin recipe on the channel and my blog that's pretty simple. It's taken me a few years (and still ongoing) to build up my supplies (mostly because I like to thrift things) but I love having tools that'll last me for decades. I'm still eating off of 2019-20 pantry items, which is a blessing. Keep me posted! You'll love the journey.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I think everyone needs to learn skills and live this lifestyle in a way that makes sense to them. I am currently living in an apartment but I am using my time to read, practice canning and cooking skills and researching what to look for when buying a home with acreage.
Hi Jasmine! I couldn't agree more with how you're currently utilizing your time and what you've already jumped into doing. Like you, researching about land/ properties is something I'm glad I have time to fully explore in the years ahead. It's always so nice meeting others that are becoming farm girls!
Due to finances, started years& years ago,I stayed home with my children, so I Learned to cook at home, mostly from scratch. Bake bread, gsrdening, funny kids will est veggies if they can go out & pick it iff the vine.😊 tomaties freshly oucked by jr. iff the vine& quickly cramed into their mouth( I letbthem think they were getting away with sonething, if thsts what it took!😊
Thanks to you and your beautiful videos, today I ordered my first fermentation aids. I'm very excited and nervous lol. Thank you. Keep up the amazing work!
I love your energy and your inspiration! Just when I feel overwhelmed and feel like everything is impossible, here comes the beautiful farm girl to remind me that I am not alone and all is possible! I absolutely love your channel and am learning so much!
Hi Tammy! Aww, thank you so much darling. I'm in the thick of it with you and totally share your feelings. Taking even small steps can led to remarks results!
1st Vid= new subbie. I was moved & welcomed from the first few minutes in. I look forward to getting to know your channel. Thank you for blessing me today
I still live in the city and it will be a few years before I’m financially ready for a place in the country. Meanwhile, I’m gardening out at my parents’ home, canning in my small-ish kitchen, and reading all I can for the day when I have space for chickens. Sometimes the dream feels far off. Thank you for this encouraging word!! I really needed it!! 😃
Hi Angie! I feel ya girl! Life has lots of logistics that make moving to the country something that could take years to plan and there's a tension that can exist that hard to hold. I've come to realize that the circumstances that are keeping me in the city aren't things I should be ashamed/embarrassed about AND that I can have the benefit of having "the best of both worlds" the conveniences of the city but the personal retreat of simple living. There can be joy along the journey!
Hi Amy! Yes-quail finally :) You've been since my first mention of them! You have been crushing your fitness goals---mama you look so good! Thank you for the kind words!
Hi Jennifer! I get it, girl! But don't get down on yourself and start giving yourself credit for all the not-so-little things you're doing. Whether its listening to informative lectures or videos here on YT, preparing at least 1 from scratch ingredient for a meal, keeping 1 or 2 houseplants alive, it all counts. There is no rush (even though for a time I thought I had to "escape to the country" with a quickness. Between my husbands work and my job, and how we help family, its just not practical right now. Tiny changes will give you remarkable results! Stay encouraged!
Such a great, wholesome video! So glad I found your channel. Love your positive spin on life. I too find I need less “ gimmicky “ stuff now that I’m preparing and preserving more of my food myself.
Hi Chelsey! Aww, thank you so much darling. I cannot tell you how much more I've grown to love my kitchen by taking a more simple approach. I found out that I was hardly even using most of those gadgets and I was so heartbroken when they broke, etc. Cast-iron is so versatile and wont need replacing (you can move it from the stove top to the oven and it keeps your food hot), replacing my coffee grinder with a manual one has been amazing, and really determining the "fleet" of items I need that will serve multiple purposes or that I'll truly reach for a lot has allowed me to get rid of the clutter/upgrade to something better (and, not always newer). I hope you're having a great week!
Regina, I couldn't believe it! Those tomatoes were in the freezer because I just ran out of time this summer and couldn't get to them (and I didn't have a large strainer). That brand retails for 200.00 and I found it for 60.00. God is good! Hope you're having a great week!
Atomic Habits is such a good book! I’ve been trying the 1% improvement for upping my weekly step count on my Fitbit, and even though it’s still lower than I’d like, I’m sticking with it. Also, thank you for the reminder to feed my sourdough that I completely forgot about in the rush to get ready for church this morning! That’s neat that your townhouse community allows for some quail, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes.
New subscriber.. love your channel, and wish you the best. We are small time homesteaders and in the words of my wife "watching her destresses me" and I am enjoying your journey as well.
Hi Ron! There's so much that can come from a small time homestead! I'm so glad that after a busy work week, I can come home and feel useful with my hands and time by preserving food, growing what we can, and learning skills that have enduring use. Blessings to you and yours, my friend!
😊 thank you sharing. Oh this is me in my in between stage. I work full time in a pharmacy and so love to train and teach. Sadly there is not the staff or time to do it properly. So my channel is my outlet to learn and share. Having to teach myself editing and camera angles has been my biggest challenge. 🎥
Hello Homestead By The Highway! Balancing full-time job and a homemade life certainly has its challenges, but its so worth it, right? I hear you on editing and camera angles-give yourself grace (and time). The beginning videos on my channel were shot on my phone and my editing was pretty rough. People ultimately connect with 'you'--not the 'production'. I"m sending you encouragement to keep going!!
Hello lady, its always good to see you! There are so many of us making the most of small spaces and spare time and I think its good to see and know others are in similar situations. I'm equally encouraged by you.
Love love love the whole vibe you have on this channel! It’s so true that tiny little steps to change your life yield results, even if it doesn’t feel like it! I hope you continue to receive love and support from the Farmgirl Community! I think it’s time to subscribe!
Hi Hannah! Aww, this is just too sweet and I appreciate encouragement. Sometimes folks (including me) can initially have the impression that a goal is "too out of reach" rather than focus on breaking things down into bite sized chunks. Engaging in action actually creates the momentum and enjoyment which gives you an idea of how you'll "get there". Everyone's path is different, and my farm dream will take a while, but that's ok, because in the meanwhile there is still plenty to enjoy and be appreciative of!
Thanks so much for continuing to give some great content!! Becoming a farm girl in the City is work, but we can do it!! I am so happy that you are getting quail!!! That's exciting!! Stay encouraged!
Saran! It's finally happening! I'll def be sharing that journey, but eggs are coming to the homestead, lol! Yes, its totally work, but its satisfying to the soul and truly being able to see the fruits of your labor is empowering in a way that doesn't compare. Always good to see you!
Just found you recently and am really enjoying your channel. Thank you for this one. My mom and I both work full time and while we have a yard and nice sized garden, it’s so tough to find the time some weeks.
I hear you Becky! Managing full time work and all of the things you could loose yourself in around the kitchen or garden quickly gets overwhelming. It's truly, not that we need to do it all, but that we consistently do what we can. Give yourself grace (and credit) for what you're able to accomplish :) What you just shared sounds impressive to me! It's so lovely that you and your mom have each other!
You are such an inspiration!! Thank you for sharing your journey, and encouraging us to just farm our space, whatever it is. Love and hope, from one farm girl to another! You’re amazing!
Hi Td F! I'm so happy to be an encouragement to you, because, you and so many I've met are equally an encouragement to me. I used to think I had to "wait" for all the "externals" to farm, but once I started taking tiny action, I realized its possible to access parts of the farm life without having everything--and I'll take that for now! Hope you're having a great week!
Wow, thank you, Cindi! While I don't get everything I'd like to accomplish done, its surprising how much a few hours a week can really "move the needle".
As always your video is visually beautifully and your advice spot on and timely. Building these skills are the antidote to uncertainty. I loved Atomic Habits . I love how you are applying what you learned to building the life of your dreams. Right now I am pondering Emergent Stategy by adrienne marie brown and Radical Homemaker by Shannon Hayes’s would love to hear more from you the ideas that inspire you and how you incorporate them into your journey. And as a total book nerd: books you love and use on the regular for inspiration, recipes, organization and the like. Thanks again
Hi Leigh! I'm so glad that you're familiar with Atomic Habits! I'll add "Emergent Strategy" to my book list, but yes, I've heard of Radical Homemaker and I need to get my hands on that book! I hope you're having a great week!
"...you and I are becoming farm girls!"....yes, thank you! we can do it! 👍🏾🔥🔥
That's right sis! We've got this, bit by bit...it all helps!
I loved this video, but I am STUCK on that tomato mil 🤯🤗🌿
There’s a lot of magic in small beginnings
I love that you’ve turned your waiting room into a classroom! I’m so happy you’re channel has grown so much, I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. The videos you make are so involved, educational, energetic and most of all valuable!
I have no idea how it’s taken me so long to find your channel, but I will be bingeing your videos. LOVING the content!!!!
So glad you are a part of this community. You are a breath of fresh air 😘
Hi Sharon! I cannot tell you how caring and helpful the homesteading/canning community has been; its such a blessing.
You ROCK!😊💐
I love the way you show how to start reasonably, no response needed
@@BecomingaFarmGirl 💓
Hello Kettle Kitchen. Thank you for your encouragement. Please email me with the details!

You are a lovely storyteller! You make others want to listen.
Cassandra,
Amen Sister!
Philippians 4:12-
I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content!
Thank you for the encouragement and Kudos to your Pastor and his words of Wisdom🙂
Hello lady! It's good to see ya! My pastor "keeps it real and quick"-I grew up in a Pentecostal church, and while I loved it, whew, those Sunday sermons would take hours sometimes! Hope you're having a great week!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Good to see you too. Same here on the Services, I also grew up attending those same long services.
❤️ great video. God bless you and your busy schedule!
Aahhh, Jess! The struggling is real!
Hello Sher Vin! Thank you. I'm still learning and hope to improve, but I appreciate the encouragement. I hope you're having a great week!
I so look forward to your vlogs! Thank you for rooting for us "urban homesteaders" I'm rooting for you too!
Hello BK Homesteader! It's always good to see you! Thanks, as always, for your encouraging words!
Thank you for your videos they are always so positive and encouraging, especially for those of us who homestead in small spaces😊
I’m right alongside ya, girlfriend! We’ve got this. Our work, even on a smaller scale is not in vain!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl 🤗
Love to see your enthusiasm. I can’t wait to start canning.
I'm so glad I tripped across your channel
this vlog was fabulous.
I have been enjoying your videos so much! And they've come at a time when I needed the lift. ♡ Thank you!
With the thrifting, gardening, canning/preserving, supporting local farmers - you’re basically an eco warrior and I am
loving it!
I am so glad Sutton Daze's Canuary led me to your channel! I just love your style!
So good to see you again.
I’m in a townhome in a sub urban area. I want to become a Farm Boy. This is a great vid
I recently found your channel.I have been binge watching.Your videos are very encouraging.I to am on a journey to be more self sufficient through growing and preserving my own food.
It's so nice to meet you, Shanica! Thank you for taking time to say hello. You've got this! Keep becoming a farm girl!
You’re one of my favorites. You’re so sweet. You encourage me and I want to make all the food you make! Thank you
You are more than welcome, sweet friend! You'd be surprised how even "the little bit" adds up. I surely don't get everything I want to accomplished, but its way more than what I could pull over a year or two ago. Be encouraged, and start small!
I’m at the beginning of my journey & I appreciate your perspective on your journey! Thanks for being you!!
You've got this, JoAnn! Starting small and adding skills over time is the way to go. Within a few months you'll truly start to see "the fruits of your labor" which only motivates you to do more! Always good to see you!
❤️❤️ Used but Better ❤️❤️Love that you world a full time job cause this my 2nd year and we are still trying to find balance
Hey lady it’s good to see ya! Yup--it definitely takes figuring out and giving yourself plenty of grace! You’ve got this!
Love, love, love watching you. Be Blessed 😇.
You’re too sweet! Thanks for the kind words!!!
Hi Cassandra! You are such an inspiration, many blessings to you and yours!
Hi Ty! Same to you, my friend! We're all doing the best we can, and there's no shame in that!
I live in an apartment and I cant keep a plant alive for the life of me, but I'm going for it anyway, lol!.Pray for me and wish me luck
Thanks for all that you do and the encouragement you provide to others.

You lift my spirits every time! Thank you!!❤
Hi Susan! We all need encouragement, and I'm happy to pass along tips and uplifting words. Small steps really do lead to remarkable results.
I recently found your channel and luuuuv it! Thanks for all you do🤟🏼💕
Inspiring as always Cass! So glad you got approved for your quail!!
Woot! Woot! Thank you! I cannot wait!
Yay I can’t wait to see the quail journey! I see your subscribers going up. You deserve it 100%.
Hi Amy! Yes-quail finally :) You've been since my first mention of them! You have been crushing your fitness goals---mama you look so good! Thank you for the kind words!
I seriously love your channel Cassandra, as a farm dreaming girl too, it's hard
Hi Jennifer! I get it, girl! But don't get down on yourself and start giving yourself credit for all the not-so-little things you're doing. Whether its listening to informative lectures or videos here on YT, preparing at least 1 from scratch ingredient for a meal, keeping 1 or 2 houseplants alive, it all counts. There is no rush (even though for a time I thought I had to "escape to the country" with a quickness. Between my husbands work and my job, and how we help family, its just not practical right now. Tiny changes will give you remarkable results! Stay encouraged!
Love your channel, and your stunning pottery! Coffee served in a handmade mug, tastes better! 😊💕
This was such a great video with loads of ideas!! Thanks so much!
I just love your channel…❤
Absolutely love your videos, they’re so inspiring. It’s helpful to see someone working full time outside the home and still moving forward. Thank you!
Wow!!!! Where to start!!!!
Ohh!! What a find on the tomatoe crusher! So happy for you my dear!!
Regina, I couldn't believe it! Those tomatoes were in the freezer because I just ran out of time this summer and couldn't get to them (and I didn't have a large strainer). That brand retails for 200.00 and I found it for 60.00. God is good! Hope you're having a great week!
Best energy on UA-cam.
You are too sweet!
Candace, you make the most beautiful videos. Well done!
Thank you! I'm so glad you like them!
Love this so much! So much inspiration, thank you for all the encouragement, it is SO valuable 💖
You are so welcome, Meylin! We all need it from time to time. Always good to see you!
This was so great, thank you. I’ve been doing this a long time, but this was really encouraging.
What a great video! Thanks ❤
Thank you for your videos, lessons, and inspiration! ♥️🌱
Amazing content thank you!
Love!
I absolutely love your channel 💕 it’s peaceful
Hello Kiara! Aww, thank you so much. It's a crazy world out there, but inside of our homes is where we can create refuge. Thanks for saying hello!
You are so inspiring!
Wow, thank you, Cindi! While I don't get everything I'd like to accomplish done, its surprising how much a few hours a week can really "move the needle".
Can you share what that tomato thing is called and where I can find one as well I love it
Very inspirational thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! You've got this!
I needed this today! Thank you!!
I hear you honey! So glad this was timely message for you!
Love your channel 😃❤️
Wonderfull video! So inspirational!
Clory! Always so good to see you. Hope you're having a good week!
I absolutely LOVE your videos!!
Hi Toni! Aww, thank so much darling! It's been such a joy finding other small time homestead dreamers :) I hope you're having a great week!
New subscriber here. I love your content and your voice has such a soothing tone. I will take these next few weeks to watch past videos 😏
Hi Rita! I'm so glad you find me helpful! I'll "see you" around the channel!
