Love you so much, Cassandra! Sometimes I feel like I’m going crazy because many family members don’t understand how badly I want land, a permaculture farm, a simpler life more connected to nature and things that really matter. I also long for my soul tribe, true friends to share these dreams and adventures of homesteading to whatever degree God wants for me. Thank you so much for your encouragement to start where I am-with changing my mindset and learning homesteading skills here where I am today. Thanks for your positivity, passion, and willingness to be real. 🤟🏼🌈🥰🌺🌿
Just found your channel and watched some of your videos and I have to say, you're doing it right. First learn the skills, then buy the land. So by the time you're fulfilling your dream, you are not overwhelmed. Keep it going girl! 👍💪
Hi from Canada. I’m almost 70 and I need to make a serious life style change. I have 2 acres with a few chickens and will be adding dairy goats to my menagerie. I am trying to grow as much as my old bones will let me. Thank you for your inspiration, would love to share my little parcel of garden with someone like minded. ❤
I understand the lack of friends in the urban homestead space. I live on the line of Md. and WDC. I was excited to share my first attempt at canning cherry tomatoes from my garden a couple of weeks ago with my girlfriends. The enthusiasm was not at all matched. So I’m glad I found your channel. I love your enthusiasm. I’m also glad to know we share a passion for kitchen gadgets. Yours being vintage, mine is with modern gadgets. I just purchased a Thermomix. I find it to be a huge help. From making breads to condiments and more it’s a wonderful asset to my kitchen. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing so much more from you.
I am so happy I found your channel. It is so easy to get discouraged online and on social media. Seeing others that already have what you are wanting can be a hard pill to swallow sometimes. And yes, as a Christian woman, I am happy for these strong individuals that freely share their wisdom. But acknowledging that I don't have that, and that God may choose for me never to have that in this life, is definitely a slice of humble pie. It is so wonderful to me to have found someone like you making your urban abode work for you in such a beautiful way. It's very inspiring. Thank you.
Hello Emma! Yes to all that you shared! And trust me, my journey is going to continue to unfold slowly over at least a few more years. Even when we eventually move it’ll be a small farm and over time I hope to add a cow, chickens and a few lambs with an in ground garden. Other than being three levels I’m very satisfied with the size of my townhome but just want some elbow room out of the city. That’s in the Lord’s hands, but until then I will praise him for what I do have and what I can do! Realizing that and experiencing the small joys really make me feel content even while I wait and prepare. I want others to be encouraged to do the same. Starting this channel has been such a balm to my heart because their are MANY of us doing exactly this, behind closed doors of apartments, rentals, RVs, and tiny lots. Be encouraged, my friend, you are not alone!
Ok I look up the videos in winter/stay inside months, but I can't believe your video only popped up today when I enter the term "small organic beginner homestead" and I am so glad. I have glass jar envy! Your jars are beautiful and you speak of so many things that are important to me. I haven't found a local friend with like ideals, but I am ok with that. I am a very, very picky eater so I don't eat a big variety of items plus I have dietary restraints. I will save this video so I can look into that e cookbook. Thank you for the inspiration and letting us know someone with the same interests is out there!
Ok I'm new to your channel, and I must say so far you are the first, that I have seen so far, to make farming femininily beautiful. Thanks for sharing and the education.
Hello DeeRose! While I'm certainly not afraid to get dirt under my nails or sweat, I think you are right--there is an artistry to farm life that can be missed in the hustle and bustle of it all. While canning and other projects is work, its mostly a time that I truly enjoy to unwind from the day, appreciate the beautify that is food (I mean, have you seen the inside of purple cabbage) and appreciate how well the Lord provides. Thank you for such a sweet note!
Hello Cassandra, You are so inspirational and I confess, I teared up at the end. I’m so glad I found your channel because I am learning so much. And yes, I’m taking faith steps and trusting God that I will obtain my goals and see my homestead dreams come to fruition. Thanks for sharing my friend. I’m excited to see what’s next. Lanique.
Take this virtual hug, Lanique *hug*! You’ve got this! It’s so easy to become overwhelmed, which is why focusing on the ways your farm dream can peak through your current reality is so important. Like you, I know that what God has for me, is for me, I’m his perfect timing. I’m still several years away, but by golly, the gift that is each day will be markers of progress and learning. As much as I can encourage you, please know that you, in kind are doing the same for me! Blessings on your week, dear friend!
I'd seen that fermentation book and passed on it based on some of the reviews. I may give it another look based on your recommendation here. 🙂 P.S. ~ I just discovered your channel yesterday. It's got a lot of visual appeal, the content is good, and you have a pleasant voice that makes visiting here a nice way to retreat for a few minutes from the stress that's all around these days. Wishing you much happiness and success in achieving your dreams. 😊
Hi Cassandra, I have created so many of your creative recipes. You have a unique way of using your canned or fermented products. I have followed you for about a year now. As an introvert, I love nothing more than creating at home while eating clean and healthy. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Martha
Hi , Martha! It’s always good to see your name! I too am very much introverted and cherish nothing more than weekends in my home spent preserving, tending to the garden and time with my pup and family. I am so happy to hear that the recipes are working out for you too! Home canned eatin’ is the best eatin’ 😀. Many of the recipes I share are adaptations from cookbooks I have or my previous home creations that turned out pretty good! My dad also gives me ideas. I appreciate your kind words so very much! Take care, friend! I have a fermentation video coming out Sunday!
I needed this little breath of fresh air, Cass! I’m making your blueberry jam this week. And I just bought some celery for that celery recipe 👀 thanks for the continued inspiration to live out these dreams now.
Hey lady! It’s good to see you again. I so hope you enjoy the jam recipe but remember to taste and tweak to make it your own! And whew, feelers stuffing is so so good! The fermented vegetable book is spot on. We truly have to treat each day like the gift it is and I’m convinced that small steps folded into the mundane days is what “sparks joy”-Blessings to you this week!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I have also felt that lack of friendship. Then I find beautiful people like you, and it is a great sense of relief to know I'm not as alone as I thought. Looking forward to making the some of your reciepes. May you be blessed with every kindness!!!
Love your channel. The way you live is also the way our grandparents and great grandparents who lived in the city lived, and honestly, most of us will never have more than .10 of an acre to work with. Life can be just as meaningful in a home as on a homestead.
Happy to find your channel! I’m planting seeds indoor to transplant outdoors later as I watch this vlog. I love seeing anyone living a homesteading lifestyle but there’s something so rewarding watching someone who looks like me. Can’t wait to binge more videos this weekend. Best wishes ❤️
Hello Kinky Curlfriend! It’s so nice to meet you along your becoming a farm girl journey, too! Aren’t you so excited the growing season will fully be here in the next few weeks?! Thank you for saying hello! I’ll see you around the channel!!
Girl…you are such an inspiration! You’re videos are extremely well put together. I am starting my homesteading journey this year and catch wait to try all of your canning and fermenting (did I just say that word?! Lol) recipes. My mouth literally waters when I watch you make your recipes. You are a breath of fresh air! Happy homesteading 😊
Hi Connie! Aww, I so appreciate your words of encouragement. And, its so nice to connect with others on a homesteading journey. Girl I hear you on fermenting...while I fell in love with canning, I never thought I'd be into fermenting--but, I just wasn't using the right recipes! The book "Fermented Vegetables" is amazing and my go to. Thank you for saying hello!
I love your videos. Thank you for always reminding me that just because I don't live on my dream farm and I am in an apartment in town that I can't still be a farm girl. Sometimes I get discouraged and your videos help bring me back right. ❤
Hi Amy! Yes, you and I are becoming farm girls together! There are so many homestead skills that don’t require land at all! Honestly, I’m so appreciative that I have the time now to practice on a small scale, purchase pieces I know I’ll have for years and enjoy a small taste of what eventual farm life will be like in my day to day. You’ve got this! Be encouraged!
We love you Casandra. Thank you for the sunshine you bring with your authenticity. Plz share how you get your dehydrated potatoes done we need a video on that

Hi JoAnn! Thanks for letting me know. I'm not sure what's happening. Let me try a few things and get back with you. I'm so sorry its giving you a hard time.
I just found your channel and I'm obsessed. I'm starting with the homestead diary series and can't wait to watch the next one each night. You are such a blessing!
Cassandra I just found your channel tonight via what I will and won't can collaboration. I have to tell you, I'm so impressed with your skills and the joy you share.
Hi Constance! I hear you, and it’s so disappointing when they’ve changed the parts to make it electrical or used decorative paint on top!!I love my perfection heaters so much! So good to see you!
Same here! I'd never seen nor heard of one before seeing them in your video. That might be because I grew up in the south and we just don't need them often...but I'm STILL on the hunt for one...or two!!!
Now that’s how excitement!!!!!! Should be shown I would have been jumping like a 5 year old 😊 just found your channel and WOW!!!!! I’m a step by step visual learner ….you have full time job and gardening I need to change my routine let me keep watching the videos thank you for sharing it’s like this is your calling teaching to gardeners who don’t have big ground areas
This video has motivated me to keep going. I recently came to the same conclusion. That " Friends" are a missing component for me as well. Yes, my family has been supportive. However, being able to watch you "becoming" in same way that I am continues to be an encouragement. Thanks for sharing "Friend".
Hi Purpose Gardens! Yes, you must keep going! You are equally an encouragement to me, as I understand how isolating it can feel to not have a friend that truly, really, "gets it"! Let not only my journey, but the comments of others have you know you are not alone as you work towards your farm goal! This year I'm planning to attend the HOA conference as a way to meet other farm girls. But, in the meanwhile, know that I'm with you in spirit turning my waiting room into a classroom . Keep becoming a farm girl!
Hello Cassandra, You are an amazing and inspiration. You make it all look so do able. I am a busy women and have dreams of Homesteading in my small property. Thank you for inspiring me and teach me how to get it done.
Hi Julie! I’m so happy to be an encourager! I understand being busy and fitting your farm dream in when you can. Honestly, that’s truly what you see me doing. It’s been a few years of learning and trying things here and there and, while not quick, it’s been worth it given the joy it gives me and the way it’s made me appreciate what farmers do even more. Give yourself credit for what you can do, and stay encouraged. We’ll get there in time!
I am so happy to have found you and your wonderful channel! This information is priceless. Teaching people how to be self-sustaining as you learn it is a great gift and inspires me to do the same. I feel very limited due to my space, but watching your channel and others who are also in this conversation, is truly helping to open my mind to what is possible for me. Thank you darling!
Hi Cass! Loved this video. You really ARE a farm girl, my friend! That collard kimchi made my mouth water. I have that fermentation book so im going to thumb through again to see if it's in there 😋. I'm feeling like there are not enough hours in the day (or week) to do everything but I'm def going to see if I can get that kinchi whipped up soon. Also just purchased some knitting needles and yarn to start my first knitting project. Have a blessed and wonderful week farm girl 💕
Zakia!!! I would love to start knitting. Actually, I felt intimidated by two needles and I know the basics of crochet but you’re right…where is the time? Lol. Pretty soon it’ll be gardening seasoning and canning fruits will keep me even busier! Those ferments are so, so, SO good. I have another ferment recipe coming out this Sunday. Always lovely to see you!!!
I’m so grateful that I found your channel it is inspiring and I love learning new things. I love your gentle spirit it calms me and encourages me. This video was just what I needed I have been learning and watching and waiting….no more I’m going to start now where I’m at with what I have.. farm girl at heart
Amen, Shellbell! Yes, start now and with what you’ve got. Let me tell you-it’ll bring your heart so much joy (even if others around you don’t immediately “get it”). The logistics of a farm move just aren’t going to work out for at least a few more years, and, that’s ok. But there are many things I don’t need land to start learning. Supporting my farmers and still shopping sales at the grocery store still puts quality home canned meals on my shelf, growing in a vertical planter still allows me to get my hands in the soil and season my food with fresh herbs. The small acts will bring you so much joy! Keep becoming a farm girl!
You’re doing great! Thank you so much for your tutorials. I also loved your binder. I got excited because I began making my own a few years ago and was like “yes! Someone else has one!” I look forward to seeing more videos from you and becoming part of this community even though I suck at growing vegetables 🥰
Just found your channel. Your videos are so good. They are informative, interesting and high quality. I look forward to going back through them all! ❤️👍
Firstly, I love the name, "Make It Happen Fam" and yes, please document and keep me posted! I'd love to follow your journey! Even with a little land you can cultivate homesteading skills. We've got this!
Loved this and I’m also dreaming of one day owning my mini homestead. I’m so glad I found your channel it’s it’s so inspiring! Blessings and keep these videos coming because we’re learning SO much from them 💜
Hi Meylin! You've got it, girl. Cherish the time you have in your current space and a few weekends a month, and in your spare time, you'd be surprised what you learn and the skills that start to become automatic. Small batch canning, antique tools, container gardening, and foods from scratch are joys you don't need land to enjoy. Keep becoming a farm girl!
I am so glad I found your channel by looking through the playlist from "A Good Life Farm" canning collaboration. I'm looking forward to binge watching your channel!
Hi Suzie! Aww! Your words are too kind! Constance is amazing! I’m participating in a so canning collars this month so I’ll have a video coming out this Friday and another on Sunday! I’ll see you around the channel!
your channel just popped up and I dream of homesteading one day! Already making a few things myself and trying to get the fam involved (not easy). Also love my outside clothesline, but it’s raining today so I was sad not to use it, but on the other hand I didn’t have to water my garden!
Another great one Cass! Thank you for reminding us to be thankful always and to start with what we have. Sending blessings from Ohio 💕 Sn I have a similar pair or polka dot pjs...love em 😂
Hey lady! It's always good to see you! Yes, I've learned to embrace small beginnings because they still provide joy along the journey. I love those comfy pjs-I actually found them years ago at the thrift store!
It's so good to see you again, Great Granny Free Bird! We all need encouragement and I'm happy to share with others the small things that bring me joy! Take good care!
I love what you're doing. I also dream about my homestead one day. I own a townhome with a covered patio. I've made pickled beets and pickles. Oh and I also made my own hot sauce.
Cassandra, my friend!! You are amazing and OMG! Thanks to you I have the antique coffee grinder and I await my heater to come in the mail. I have learned so much from you. Now, I am going to look into the squeezo. Thanks for keeping me inspired!!
Saran! No way! I truly hope you are just as pleased with these treasures as I have been. High five to you for finding them so quickly! I didn’t start out being so drawn to antiques but I’m telling you, I’m done with things I’ll need to replace every 5 to 10 years and so many quality items from when items weren’t massed produced are so much better than what we have now (quality and cost). Keep me updated!!!!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Yessss, the quality is sooooo much better. Finding your channel has been an amazing blessing as I sit in the waiting room for my farm!!! I am just a Philly girl learning all that I can so when my land is ready I can just move right on in and keep on living the farm girl dream.
I love this! Love your content. Ideas. I copy all of it! And thank you for it :)) My question however is sincere: following these wonderful and economical ideas is creating a problem. My freezer and pantry items FAR exceed my eating capacity. Seriously. And now canning and “saving” is my hobby. I could feed a family of ten for a year and I just. Keep. Going.
Your food visuals are both stunningly beautiful and inspiring. Your voice is pleasant although I wish you would slow down a little bit. Keep up the good work!
Hi Cassandra! As always loved your video! I found a couple of low calorie ketchup recipes I’m going to try soon. Thanks for inspiring me! I hope you have a fabulous week and as always looking forward to your next video!
Hello from Brasil! Just found you last night and I have been binge watching and so encouraged to know I can do it now! I just have a very narrow corridor with very little sunlight to begin my container garden but I will continue on....I have a few herbs and a BIG dream to becoming a 'farm girl' too. Thank you for the e-books, I am excited to try out the recipes. Blessings to you and family from Sao Paulo! Renee. p.s nu subbie!!!!
Hi Renee! What…Brasil?!!! There’s so much you can do in a small space and in your spare time! Make the most of what you have now, while you turn your waiting room into a classroom. You’ve got this!
Hello! I’m new to your channel but I am already looking forward to watching your videos & learning with you! I’d like to have foods that are fresh & not processed with unnecessary ingredients. Thanks for the playlist.
Hello, JoAnn! Welcome! We are kindred spirits, then. Shifting to minimally processed foods has been a game changer in our health, budget and control over what goes in (and stays out) of the food we eat. It’s well worth it! I’m so happy to share what I’m learning from others (and to learn with/from you! Thanks for saying hello!
Hi, love your channel and congratulations on your homesteading success. Can you please give some information on your stackable growing tower please. Thanks
Where have you been all my life?! Lol Hi Cassandra! This week I’ll be making your honey orange slices and another batch of the onion balsamic. I have to push myself to do some condiments soon. I love what you said-be less reliant on grocery store’s. My son is gifting me the Green-stalk for an early B-day gift. I’ll be ordering it through you soon. Take good care and it’s always great to see you!
Awww! Thank you so much! I’ll be featuring my green stalks (seed haul and frequent updates) as the planting season returns! Continue to give yourself time to lean into making your own condiments, but once you find (or tweak) a recipe you love, you’ll be hooked. I had to find a way to “measure” my progress towards what I could count as “being sustainable” and, noticing that less was going into my cart but I still could make what I was no longer buying (condiments, canned foods, fresh herbs, store kombucha, etc) was something I noticed in a cheaper grocery bill and made me feel that I was becoming a more empowered consumer. The small steps truly count!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Absolutely, these are great goals to have. As you suggested, I’ll be leaning towards condiment and kombucha. Have a wonderful week! Be well my friend
Hi Robyn! Thank you so much :) Thor, my little fur baby is our pride and joy. What's your little one's name? Are they just the most loving, quirky characters ever?
@@BecomingaFarmGirl awww I love that name. I have Daisy, Pippa (full sisters one year apart) and I have two boys Harry and Marty 💗 oh my goodness they are the best dogs ever. So funny and so much like kids 😂 I have the most fun!
Your videos are always so aesthetically pleasing 😍 And you are SO inspiring!! I do garden and preserving, but now am interested in fermentation and making my own condiments. Do you also bake your own bread? I am the worst at keeping a starter alive and would love a video filled with tips!
Hi Lindsay! It's always good to see you! You've got to give fermentation a try. The book, "Fermented Vegetables" is a winner for sure. It shows you how to ferment every kind of vegetable (literally, over 64). " This weekend I"ll be publishing a video as part of the #fermentedfebruary collab, so check out that playlist for some wonderful recipes. I've been learning to make and use my own condiments for about the last year and I really do love it (especially since many of them can be fermented and you can't even tell the difference). Hope you're having a great week!
Hello Imperfect Vegan! I have not (but I’ve seen others have success with it). This year I’ll be taking you through my spring, summer and fall green stalk gardening! I finally ordered my supports along with 2 more Green Stalks!
Good morning! How do you dehydrate and then rehydrate your ground beef? I really want to learn how to do this to help stop me from going to Taco Bell simply because I want tacos and don't want to cook LOL.
Fermented cranberries...fermented in honey. She has a video on how-to. I did a similar one about 3 years ago where you have to invert the jar twice a day for several weeks. It was really good!
Hi Katelyn! We’ll-I’m here to encourage you not to wait! Sis, there is so much I’m learning on even a small scale that has taught me so much! Keep becoming a farm girl in your small space and spare time!

Plz share how you get your dehydrated potatoes done we need a video on that
I'm so behind 😪 but I'm moving forward

I love it! I wish I could find some of those heaters, but every time I find one, it has been altered into something else.
@@BecomingaFarmGirl 💚👍🏾👏🏾
Very nicely done video! Glad to find your channel from That 1870's Homestead 💜
Rachel has been so good to me! I appreciate her kindness immensely and that it led me to you! Thank you for the words of encouragement!
I really enjoy watching your channel 😊 I am so inspired to start homesteading in my home space. Thanks
Keep the videos coming!!! You rock girl!
Ok I'm hooked! Starting from your beginning ! Thank you for your content!!!
Omg that coffee grinder is amazing!
Oh that salmon sandwhich is calling my name!! And the kimchi !!
What a great channel you have!!! We also are homesteading in a neighborhood!! Practicing and learning while we wait to be able to move!! Way to go!!!!
So excited I found your channel!❤
I absolutely love this channel and your content. It sits well with my soul! Thank you 🙏🏽
Ms. Lou, you are too kind! Thank you very much for joint my humble homestead in the making!
You’re doing great! Thank you so much for your tutorials. I also loved your binder. I got excited because I began making my own a few years ago and was like “yes! Someone else has one!”
I look forward to seeing more videos from you and becoming part of this community even though I suck at growing vegetables 🥰
Just found your channel. Your videos are so good. They are informative, interesting and high quality. I look forward to going back through them all! ❤️👍
I am so glad to find your channel!! I am gearing up to start my own homestead journey with very little land. I hope to document it as well 🤞🏻
Firstly, I love the name, "Make It Happen Fam" and yes, please document and keep me posted! I'd love to follow your journey! Even with a little land you can cultivate homesteading skills. We've got this!
Thank you so much!!
This is so inspiring!!!!
your channel just popped up and I dream of homesteading one day!
Sending blessings from Ohio 💕
Sn I have a similar pair or polka dot pjs...love em 😂
Hey lady! It's always good to see you! Yes, I've learned to embrace small beginnings because they still provide joy along the journey. I love those comfy pjs-I actually found them years ago at the thrift store!
you're such an encourager. 🙂
It's so good to see you again, Great Granny Free Bird! We all need encouragement and I'm happy to share with others the small things that bring me joy! Take good care!
Wow! New sub! So glad to have met you. Lots of wonderful new things to learn from you! 😃💕💕💕
I love what you're doing. I also dream about my homestead one day. I own a townhome with a covered patio. I've made pickled beets and pickles. Oh and I also made my own hot sauce.
Thanks so much! I checked out your latest tour! Looks good, you go girl!!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl thank you!!!
And thank you for it :))
My question however is sincere: following these wonderful and economical ideas is creating a problem.
Just found your channel and I am loving your videos!
Amazing! Thank you so much for this!
I’m so happy you found this helpful!!
What a great video!!!
Hey Cass 👋🏾 I hope you're well 🤗🌿
Hey lady! Yes, I am! How are you? I just saw you posted a seed haul! I’ve got to watch!! So good to see you!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl I WAS good, but now thanx to you I'm hungry all over again 😭. These recipes look amazing 🤩
XOXO
Your farm girl friend 🤗
Hi Cassandra! As always loved your video! I found a couple of low calorie ketchup recipes I’m going to try soon. Thanks for inspiring me! I hope you have a fabulous week and as always looking forward to your next video!
Amy!!(Love the name change)! Once you find a recipe you love you’ll be set! Right back at ya girl-have a great week and keep on keeping on!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl 🤗thank you I Will!
Thanks
thinking they would be great for winter electric outage, small and easy to pick up
Where have you been all my life?! Lol
Hi Cassandra!
I need that fermentation kit! Loved the video
Hello Asrai! Yea! The kit is so helpful and easy to use. You’ll start to ferment everything!
Great content 😊
Thank you 😊 Everything you make looks so good! Aww I see a Frenchie 💗 I’m a Frenchie mom as well lol
Thank you for another great video. Do you use any of your Greenstalk planting systems to grow vegetables and greens indoors?
Hello Imperfect Vegan! I have not (but I’ve seen others have success with it). This year I’ll be taking you through my spring, summer and fall green stalk gardening! I finally ordered my supports along with 2 more Green Stalks!
I'm hoping this canned lemon honey is in the small batch cookbook because I just purchased it from your link 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good morning! How do you dehydrate and then rehydrate your ground beef? I really want to learn how to do this to help stop me from going to Taco Bell simply because I want tacos and don't want to cook LOL.
What was that amazing looking cranberry stuff you put on the oatmeal?
Fermented cranberries...fermented in honey. She has a video on how-to.
I did a similar one about 3 years ago where you have to invert the jar twice a day for several weeks. It was really good!
Thank you, JoAnna! I just finished the container. I’ve had those cranberries since November!
what is it??
I've always thought I had to wait until I can afford some land to start homesteading... thank you so much for these videos!
Hi Katelyn! We’ll-I’m here to encourage you not to wait! Sis, there is so much I’m learning on even a small scale that has taught me so much! Keep becoming a farm girl in your small space and spare time!
I thought kerosene heaters cause health problems.
Do you make your own sea salt???? And grow pepper corns?
