    Can I use this Mac with an M1 Mac Studio? How does the plug situation work with the weird double USB-C cable?

    • @AndrewTaylorYT
      @AndrewTaylorYT  6 днів тому +1

      You can! I actually actively use it with my M2 studio. You just need to use actual thunderbolt 3/4 cables. I had 2 thunderbolt 3 cables. Just plug into 2 of the thunderbolt cables in the back of the studio then the other ends into the laptop slot in the back of the dock. Works perfectly. Fantastic choice for a I/O expansion on the Mac Studio. Also expands your thunderbolt port offerings if you have an M1 Max and only have them on the back.

      @@AndrewTaylorYT can you send me a link to recommended thunderbolt 3/4 cables? Also do I need to use two cables to plug the Mac Studio m1 into it?

      @JeffZenisek I would grab 2 of these. These are what I have. Also yes. It splits 2 thunder bolt revivers which is why you get 4 out. It also runs all the other ports at high speeds. 2 thunderbolts for lots of high speed I/O including more thunderbolts. This is the link: amzn.to/3ZDKUps

    If I want to upgrade my Mac Mini to Mac Studio M4 Max and my iPad Pro 2018 to iPad Pro M4 is the Ivanky Max Dock compatible with each. IOW, I would have it permanently attached to my Mac Studio and plug my iPad Pro in when at my desk and want to connect both.

      You could charge your iPad off the dock. The input requires 2 thunderbolt ports though so since the iPad only has 1 you couldn’t use it for extra iPad IO. You could use it on the Mac Studio though.

    It gets very hot during operation, although only 2 2k dell is connected😢

      It can get warm for sure. That’s why the floating cooling design is so important. Allows for air circulation to keep the dock from getting to the level where the heat would damage performance. Still have yet to see any slow downs even when it’s getting hot, and I’ve run it far harder than 2 sell 2ks.

    how about this dock compared to TobenONE UDS033 ?

    • @AndrewTaylorYT
      @AndrewTaylorYT  2 місяці тому

      The fusion dock Max 1 is a much higher end dock than the Tobenone UDS033. The Toben doesn’t do as many output and its speeds are slower across the board as well as fewer ports. Also doesn’t do any thunderbolt outs.

    These docks could be used with the M2, M3 and M4 iPad Pros correct?

    • @AndrewTaylorYT
      @AndrewTaylorYT  2 місяці тому +1

      I need to check on the dock pro. Waiting for my iPad Pro in the mail actually. The fusion dock max wouldn’t be able to as it needs 2 thunderbolt port to plug into.

      You can use it with anything. The only "exclusive" thing is the double cable. Depending on the features of the port, you will have different functionality. If it has thunderbolt, that just guarantees it has 40Gbps as well as PCIe and DisplayPort alt-mode.

    I use 4 external Dell HDMI displays at my M1 Max workstation all day every day, so welcome this. Does the Ivanki Fusion 1 Max have issues with monitor sleep/wake? I currently have the Caldigit which forces me to unplug and replig every single time my monitor goes to sleep to get a working connection which drives me MENTAL… does this dock have the same issue?? I read one other review that sounds like it does? Thanks

    • @AndrewTaylorYT
      @AndrewTaylorYT  3 місяці тому +1

      I personally didn't have ant problem with waking my monitors with the Magic Keyboard. I will say though I was using 2 Studio Displays. I know the studio display is generally a little more responsive to Mac OS waking than third party monitors. I have a single LG monitor that's HDMI in my closet that I just plugged in and that didn't have any problem waking. It is only a single monitor though. Id grab the Max and give it a go. You can always return it. My experience with he dock has been really premium. I do not have a cockpit of monitors like you do though.

    Nice review, I hate the fact that the cable uses both thunderbolt ports on the MacBook. Def a dealbreaker!

    • @AndrewTaylorYT
      @AndrewTaylorYT  2 місяці тому

      Uses 2 of the 3 but due to the converters gets you 4 thunderbolt ports. It’s not as if it takes away ports. Wouldn’t call it a deal breaker when it doubles your thunder bolt ports then gives you another 16 different ports on top of that.

      400 dollars is about how much any large I/O thunderbolt docks cost. It’s kinda a pain if you need them but if you don’t you get to save some good money.

Can’t really share images in UA-cam comments but it’s kinda crazy how quickly brands start reaching out. Soundpeats was the first brand I did a video for and I was at like 300-400 subs I think.
