I'm too baked for long titles, I swear it said BJ trains WITH Ryan for his fight. lol
MotorCityOctane dude... it’s the only reason I clicked
That’s what it says lol
I'm not even baked and I thought that's what it said. The title's wrong, it should say "against Ryan Hall".
Same here.
Tony Ferg is the type of guy...
Uh oh, he's got that Chuck LIddell speed.
BJ, you have nothing to prove.
He is fighting to get beat up
Ryan Hall is gonna be watching this eating popcorn
Bj Penn is still one of my favorite fighters.
Bj Penn needs to stop fighting.
Do ebi or quintet. Hell, I rather see him do combat jiujitsu before an actual mma fight.
I agree, but at this point in B.J.'s career, this is actually good matchmaking by the UFC as Hall won't pose a serious striking risk. Meaning we shouldn't see B.J. taking shot after shot while not returning fire like we have in the last two fights against Yair and Siver. This fight with Hall is about as close as you can get to ebi/quintet, while still being in the Octagon.
Yup. I would love to see BJ back on the grappling circuit.
This was awesome, thank you!
I'm a huuuge BJ Penn fan and reeeally dont want to see him fight but can't help but keep my eyes glued. Hall likes to throw a lot of kicks and is crafty, it's and interesting and yet oddly winnable fight for my dude.
I just worry BJ is taking too much damage late in his career, don't want to see him a bad shape 10-20 years from now. His fight with Yair & Frankie were pretty nasty
@@motorcityoctane6713 yeah, totally agree. This "fighter" mentality could have some long term effects that just aren't worth it. His last few fights he has been beat up pretty good. I hope this fight isn't too brutal, he wins and officially calls it a career
Halls bjj is much sharper if it hits the mat Hall wins
The fact that BJ's record is 16-12-1 is a huge misrepresentation of his quality. BJ should be remembered for being a real game changer.
Jason Carson im taking a small chance on BJ at +500. Why not
Training in a GI for mma is like BJ running under water with a big rock. He was unstoppable when he trained with the Marinovich's. They got him so explosive. BJ never worked on his Muay Thai which was dumb. Imagine BJ with Bang Ludwig as his striking coach and Marv as his conditioning coach. He would have been unbeatable. A shame he never maximized what he was born with.
He had the right idea late in his career (moving to Jackson-Wink, Marinovich reunion) but it was too late
I don't think he'd have Bang as his coach since he beat him in MMA and didn't really get his coaching name out till he hooked up with Alpha male
training for an MMA fight with a Gi on is like training tennis with a baseball bat.
Tell that to werdum who has the most submissions in HW
199X Man
There are plenty of ways to train cardio and position. possibly the most important two aspects of this particular fight. Gi is really really good. You must not train huh...?
@Trev1183 But it also offers advantages by giving you grips that won't have in the fight
@@joeyripswell because Ryan Hall is going to use his lasso guard in the octagon right?
Richard Dukard nope iminari to heel hook. Sic bjj
People saying he should be training leg locks and no gi, actually think this is his main training session, do they also think he should show how he defends all of Ryan's best attacks! Also gi can certainly be beneficial for mma.
Makes me want to get back in there and get my ass kicked again.
This is a great match up
2:50 lasso guard!!! soo much fun. bj stuffed the sweep nicely. good clean rolls
His knees are shot. He should not be fighting. As for the comments about him training in a Gi BJ Penn has forgot more about MMA then the vast majority of us will ever know and his BJJ is better than 99% of the UFC roster his body is what failed not his technique or heart.
That dude w the brown belt is actually really good
BJ trains BJJ for upcoming fight with BJ vs Ryan Hall where BJ hopes to finish the fight with BJJ.
Is this his first camp with Nova Uniao?
nice roll
1st. What a legend BJ is
One does not simply train for the 50 50
one of my all time favourite fighters ever
B.J. was my idol when I was a kid , hoping he pulls off the win in this one
Love Baby J. Would like to see him go out with a W.
Grandpa J.
It was really sad watching BJ penns last few fights,He just hasn’t been the same since he left the marinovoch bros
Last time he was there was for the Frankie rematch in 2010 were he go outclassed for the entire fight apart from landing a few jabs and getting a very brief takedown. Not slating BJ or the Marinovich Bro's but maybe he looked so great because he simply got in better shape after the GSP 2 loss and Kenny Florian can't stick to a game plan and Diego Sanchez is fun but honestly not that good as dickish as that makes me sound lol.
Guard pass at 2:00 is pretty slick.
I wish Ryan Hall fought more frequently. He is a fascinating dude to watch.
Cool old man jiu jitsu flow roll. I hope he trained harder than this most of the time, it looks as if that brown belt could probably choose to turn it on and smash BJ at any time, hes just playing with him.
Obviously you dont know what you're talking about. These 2 are flow rolling, this is not a competitive roll. BJ is still a beast on the mat.
Bj Penn grappling skills amazing to watch . I be scared if I had to take on BJ Penn LOL I run away.
Doug says hi from Tucson !
Bj Penn vs Jon Jones 2019.
LETS GO!
This is a good fight for BJ. Zero Threat on the feet so he isn't in any danger of getting beat up bad or suffering a really bad KO.
its very cool to see BJ train he is a natural for BJJ
I'm just glad BJ is training anything. In his last few fights he looked like he never trained and just came to collect a paycheck. Yeah, I'd like to see him go out with a win.
How does he pass that lasso?
I wish they could agree to no strikes and do a straight jiujitsu match lol
Can't believe BJ talked about signing 4 fight deal after this Ryan Hall fight. 🙆
that Ralph Gracie smash and pass!
He should be training for alot of kicks and 50/50 guard
Dana is a hypocrite talking about not letting old fighters fight yet BJ Penn at age 40 is still fighting.
Yeah but BJ has mostly been losing decisions. He only got finished by Yair and Frankie in recent history. It’s not like chuck Liddell that was getting knocked out back to back
there is a massive difference between the state bj is in and chuck and tito
He still wants DC to fight
LoSito and BJ talked about signing a 4 fight deal after this
@@James-nw1ojyeah he's in better shape that can be changed though but his off switch can be so easily pressed at a weight where power matters more. When you rank bj amongst active ufc fighters his size he's still competitive with all the top 15 guys in one area and thats bjj and shown in his fight with siverr he's technically got enough for the right matchups and has the capacity to cause damage that could lead to a ko win. I'm not saying bj should be fighting but i'm saying that the reason he wants to fight and his willingness to still prepare for a certain calibre of opponent shows that he's mentally more in it than chuck and tito who with the way they lost could always argue I just got caught and not admit the skill difference. BJ has been on a streak but lets remember edgar is elite, he's not a welterweight and yair was way too good for him athletically. Bj cost himself the siverr fight with cardio. This fight for bj is a very winnable one and I think the only one in the ufc which hopefully give him closure or show him good enough to have one last one in hawaii with a carefully selected opponent.
Ryan will murk BJ on the ground, Hall is a veteran in the grappling game than BJ Penn will be. It will be a close fight if BJ keeps it standing but maybe ryan has greatly improved his striking since his last fight.
Brian Maldonado bj is a bjj prodigy wth r u talking about ryan hall didnt not achieve things that Bj did in a shirt period of time.
He needs to put on some muscle because he looked like he jumped off the couch last fight,I know dad bods are in but not inside the octagon.
Shouldn't this fight be in bellator?
He’s the only one who knew the right response to the fight moving to L.A.
I hope he tps him out and runs out of the ring. Comes back in just to retire.
If Eric Kuenhle could..He would.
Why do guys train gi for a no gi fight?
Remember when BJ Penn fought Master Renzo he looked like a sumo wrestler
Shouldn’t you be training no Gi
And for alot of leg locks
Jacob Smith maybe if you weren’t on a bjj level like BJ. I’m sure the transition to gi and no gi for him is nothing
Nick Paige Well If you training for a fight in the UFC wouldn’t you want to be training for what you’re actually going to be doing on the night of the fight,And there’s a difference in gi no gi jui jitsu
Deez nuts on your forehead would create friction lol
Trev1183 I didn’t know somebody from Swim class was going to give us Jui jitsu lessons lol
should have trained heel hooks a bit more I guess
Why would your fight prep forget 50% of the human body? -John Danaher
BJ is a fast learner but hes not doing anything against ryan hall on the ground. Should be working on boxing and wrestling + escapes from leg locks.
Goodnight Sweet Nunes Goodnight. What ya going to do when the Borg comes for you!
*Ends up getting submitted*
BJ Penn needs to retire, all he does is stand in the ring and take shot after shot. Its sad to see
Like to see bj in rizen or at least get Acosta’s trainer
Bj penn is king of jjb
BJ is sweating picograms
I was expecting more from bj
Hope BJ wins and retires. I dont wanna see him get beat up anymore
Bj hellyea plz win by ko
Has nothing to prove though ufc world champ/Bjj world champ
If there’s one thing you gotta admit is his cardio is looking good. For anyone who’s ever rolled knows how draining it is , most guys literally get tapped out due to fatigue. Now imagine rolling with what I’m gonna assume must be a high level brown belt like in this vid...exhausting asf even if you are a black belt like BJ.
Ryan hall may get kod
ossssssssssss
Deceiving title
The level has risen too high. BJ is a badass from another era. He’s got nothing to prove. I hate seeing him get beaten so badly in the UFC. I hope he moves on, and I wish him success in life.
shouldn't he be training no-gi
This could be the worst fight ever.
This will be the fight: jab fake, leg kick, double guard pull. Ref stand up, and repeat. lol
why BJ you got money? why have somone smash you today? you were a hammer but thats life everyone ages..... sadness end in the 1st
looks he too old for that
Shouldn't be in the gi
Easy win for The Prodigy (I’m the firestarter) (Breathe with me)
why train with a gi to prepare for mma?
Not the slickest jiujitsu I've ever seen.....
bj will leave the sport like chuck lidell
WRONG
