Shamsa, one question please sister. If I needed to make more rice when entertaining guests, what changes do I make to the quantities of the ingredients? Thanks so much 💕
Great recipe, thank you! One question, when you cook the onions to that colour, doesn’t it give off a bitter or sometimes sweet taste? I understand there’s a fine line between caramelising your onions and burning them... Do you have any tips of knowing where the line is when it comes to not burning your onions if that makes any sense?😁
Hi Bhavin, thanks for your comment 😊 The onions have never been bitter when cooked to that point. If they've not got the correct colour to them, how will they colour the pilau rice! You've just got to keep an eye on them and as soon as they have all kinda turned a golden brown colour that's when you keep them moving around to prevent them from burning. As most of the moisture has cooked out and theyll be cooking a lot faster. Keep moving them away from the heat and a thing a do is I place them in an outer circle away from the middle of the pan where the intense heat is, check if they need more cooking and move them back in again, doing that until I'm happy with the colour. You'll definitely know when your onions are burnt, they give off a distinctive smell. Hope that helps.
And if you dont like the way she pronounces it you know where the door is see yourself out, yet your still here watching and cooking using her content 🤔
Aisha, thank you for your comment. You're quite right, but then what you fail to understand is my dear, I have people from many different ethnical backgrounds that follow me some for whom English is not their first language. So clear and concise pronunciation is required so they can understand. I hope that helps!

I always thought were supposed to use twice as much water as rice? But here you’ve got 4 cups of the liquid and 3 for rice! 🫠 I’m scared to do this because it would be a massive waste of rice if it didn’t work, but it looks so good! Any tips?
Half the quantity of ingredients. No two rice brands are the same, some require more water than others and Sella rice requires double the amount. I'm using regular basmati.

Looks so delicious x
How long do we soak the rice?
Approximately how long does it take for the rice to cook once you’ve added the yakhni?
Approx 6/8 mins
You boiled chicjen for 10mins is that enough time it wont smell of raw chicken? I got chicken shoulders only sister how long do i boil it?
Is this different to the one you have already got up for yakni pilau?
This is the only video I have of Chicken Yakhni Pilau. The other is just Chicken Pilau made without Yakhni (broth).
Thanks that looks amazing. Is it possible you can give the water measurements in liters.🙏
