I did cringe a little when I saw you cut that hole through the ply with no backing board underneath. If that hole jig blade touches the iron table it will surely damage the cutting bit. Nice job though ....luckily. Honestly though, nice job.
do you find any change in performance if you speed up or slow down your drill press? I have found sometimes the wood catches and flys off my press. wondering if I slowed it down if it may work better. awesome videos
I do slow it down when making rings. But what you describe I eliminated by using a spiral up cut flute bit on the router, choosing the grain orientation of my wood carefully and using epoxy instead of wood glue to make the wood sandwich. Wood glue dries too brittle.
Awesome thanks for the tip! I have been using wood glue and occasionally they do fly off at me. Shoot me an email I will send you a picture of my fine adjustment knob setup! Boddie0127@gmail.com
Is the hose clamp flexing the wood ring just enough to hold the router in place? In other words, once the router is mounted underneath the press table, is loosening the hose clamp all you need to do to remove the router?
Thanks! I'm planning my build now. I noticed that this "router clamp" is fixed to the drill press table not allowing much movement of the ring at all. So I had to ask....
ive always wanted to do that but it seems the router bits are too short. They have to be long enough to span the spacers and thick drill press table. How do you get it to work?
I found this channel by accident and discovered Matthias Wandel and John Heisz have competition! Check out his DIY Router Table Coping Sled, its simplicity is genius!
A great project and good video BUT, I am continually amazed that UA-camrs don't seem to review their videos before posting them. The changes in volume are really annoying and in the case of this video, it started out way too soft, then there was a section where I thought my eardrums would burst, then it dropped off to near nothing again. Please take care with your edits before posting.

Warn me before you raise the volume 03:10! 'Bout cracked an ear drum. Looks like a useful build.
Great idea. Very nice for a shop with limited space.
What was the tool that you marked the holes with at 4:23?
Fastcap long nose marker. I love it and use it all the time. m.woodcraft.com/product/843741/fastcap-long-nosed-pattern-marker.aspx

I'm interested in converting a drill press into a pin router. Do you think it's possible?
What is the 1st bit you use in the router? Is it a normal wood drill bit?
Hi will a plunge router work?
Hi will a plunge router work?
thank you
How do you pop it the router blades in like that?
Great food for the brain !!! Thanks for the share.

Yes. Just loosen the hose clamp and router drops out.

I made a video on how I use it to make wooden rings. ua-cam.com/video/zjKx_g27PHk/v-deo.html
i started watching that one. Does it show about the drill bit length?
Router bit is 2.5 inches.
