- The Awesome Players get out for their second ride of the COVID season. Jason on his KTM 500EXC and Riley on his Husqvarna 701 meet at Ivan's where his KTM 690 is ready to roll. We get off to a good start when our Sena intercom systems seem to be working great with the new firmware and Mesh 2.0. First order of business is to meet new rider Frédéric on his Honda CRF250L with a rally kit. We head back once again to the Scotch road and hit our usual spots. We end up doing several loops and the same water crossings many, many times. We get a bit bogged down on one super slippery hill climb but with everyone pitching in we get to the top after some profanity and a little pushing and pulling. New guy Fred does really well and seems to have a good time. Despite the pandemic it seems to be shaping up to be a good season and maybe riding will keep us sane from all the Zoom meetings.

I really liked that there's some shots from Ivan :).
We are going to have more of that. Ivan justpicked up a used Hero 7 so better video from him this season.
Huzzah another Awesome Players video. Past my bedtime, so I look forward to this in the morning
Pleasant dreams Carl.
@@AwesomePlayers I'll blame my lack of sleep on you guys ;)
Great one! Thank you for keeping them coming!
More to come!
Excellent video and welcome entertainment sitting in the depths of Winter and entering yet another lockdown in the UK! Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming!
Glad you enjoyed it! We should have a full lockdown with a curfew here starting Saturday.
Fred brought the right bike!
He is pretty happy with it. Just needs to get that exhaust quieter. At full throttle it is crazy loud.
Thanks, and yes I really like my smaller Honda. Rather spend more 💰 on my gears than in the bike. And repair are really inexpensive if things go bad.
@@FredCharlebois If.....
I won't spoil future stories/adventure 😇
Fantastic as always !!!
Happy Birthday!
Great to have friends from the far north 😁 I always enjoy the videos
Glad you like them! Cheers.
Welcome back guys enjoying the videos !
Thanks Cap.
whoo-hoo!!! 2videos already!!! love watching these
Glad you like them! Cheers.
Watching in the UK love it great videos guy’s
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you Guys!!
regards from your steady fanboy in Switzerland
Our pleasure!
nice to see you guys again.
Nice to be back. Really nice to reconnect with a lot of folks.
I saw a lot of Players landmark spots from the old videos in this one. Very cool!
Sometimes it is nice to revisit some familiar trails.
Yeahhh been waiting awhile. Excited
Like the user name.
nice job guys. wish I lived closer.
Are you sure? 20 cms of snow tomorrow! Cheers.
You do not disappoint in your commentary.
Thanks Bruce.
this is awsome
Thanks Mark.
Fantastic video and speakings:)... a new fan from Italy (Honda cb500x!)
Thanks Mauro. We don't see too many CB500X bikes here. I hear good things. Ciao!
Another excellent video!! Looks like Frederick did great! Stay well!!
Thanks, this edit make me look much better than I am.
@@FredCharlebois I don't know, APORMC usually thrives on the bad!! 😆 I bet it was a blast!
Fred is being modest. For the number of years he has been riding he has taken that Honda some pretty rough places.
@@AwesomePlayers in this video alone, he's done much tougher stuff than I'll ever do!!
Hey look, there’s a bridge!
We try and minimize wear and tear on the bridge as a public service.
Enjoyable watch as always - Frederic makes a decent case for the humble lightweight 250 honda in the trickier terrain.
I think the low seat height really helps there plus he is a good rider.
we love the sand pit
Sandpit kind of feels like ours. Will be a sad day if it ever gets closed.
Damn, you Guys dont know how lucky you are to live in Canada having these Spots to ride! Awesome! Totally jealous Greetings from not so Enduro-friendly Germany
I have heard that from so many Germans. Of course you do have the advantage of having all of Europe at your feet and Africa isn't that far.
Great video and nice riding area looks like a blast. Hopefully getting the new 300rally this summer once my back recovers from surgery. I’ve been Bin watching your channel great stuff.
New 300 looks pretty sweet. About time Honda put the bigger motor in that frame.
@@AwesomePlayers You guys should try the Rekluse auto clutch there work great! Love the 690 just out of my $ range with 2 kids in university lol.
@@markl8043 Always wanted to try one.
Good job Riley and guys. I wish more people would for do the commentary over the video like you do. Just not the same without Henrick and Chris but I still enjoy these videos. Stay safe!
We will get Fred to do a Hungarian accent this summer in some of our videos. We can tell him it is part of some sort of initiation.
Challenge accepted 😁
Oh what a treat! Second video!
More to come! Working on number 3 now.
@@AwesomePlayers good good good!!!!
“Id help you but I don’t want to”! LOL!
I was just being honest.
That's a virtue.
Pretty awesome players! I dont know what I'd rather have. The kitted out 690, or that light little honda!
Honda weighs about the same.
The CRF is about 10kgs lighter, AND the CRF will do everything that the 690 does..
I have both, and love them both but the CRF has a little more love 😏
@@randersson3672 I actually find the CRF harder to ride off-road. I know it sounds weird but I've tried them a few times and find the handling very odd.
@@AwesomePlayers Ha ! You are right on that one, the wheight distribution on them are totally different.
And the KTM will do everything faster than the CRF, the suspension and brakes are superior....but still the CRF is
my favorite, it has some strange charm to it. 21 000 km on it no problems at all, 10 000 km on the KTM, no big problems but little ones that
was very annoying, clutchslave, loose bolts type of things.
@@randersson3672 So far on my 701 just the clutch slave and the broken side stand switch.
I´m kinda missing the suuuuper sloooowmoooo! :)
Ivan and I were just discussing slo-mo. Will dust off the old slo-mo effect.
@@AwesomePlayers jeeeeeeh! :)
Just found this channel. I hope to run into you guys on the trails this summer
Just look for the guys stuck in the mud or changing a flat while being eaten by flies! Cheers.
Great video once again! Would love to try some offroading myself, but The Netherlands doesn't offer many trails..
I've heard that from folks before, same from Germany. Time for a Romanian vacation.
Interesting that there are many Dakar participants from the Netherlands and in general perform well be it cars or bikes.
Great to see you guys riding again, keep em coming, anyone riding the new Yamaha T7 ?
Marc actually sold his Africa Twin and is now on the T7.
ever thought about getting/trying a bike with a DCT or a Rekluse ? (just from a "comfy" POV)
Tried the Honda AT with DCT. Liked it. Scared about what servicing would cost. Thought about a Rekluse. Maybe one day.
Woo! Does this mean lots more content coming over the winter :)
I’m going to try.
chop chop u never know 😆🤣
True dat.
What’s that e paper looking map thing you have on the husqy?
It is a road book holder. A scrolling paper map used in rallys.
you guys should do a trip around baskatong some time
We did some more long distance riding at the end of last season. We were west of Basktong but I was there once years ago and it looks like a very cool area. Plan for this year is to get deeper into the woods and camp in more remote spots.
How much PSI do you run your tires here and does it differ from bike to bike?
Il usually run 18 or so on the 701, maybe a bit less in back. Recently I have been running 26 or so on my 701 and have been too lazy to lower it. Works well and means I can hit a rock without too much worry. Jason on the 500 has the Tubliss system so can go to single digits if he wants. Bigger bikes in the low twenties so you don't bend a rim. On my 800 I would run 22 front, 18 rear. and still slow down if the rocks were plentiful.
I often run as low as 12psi without problems but in general around 16-18 psi. Also ultra heavy duty tubes.
Awesome video 😎 thanks!! What ever happened to Henrik?
Henrik still has his 1150GS but isn't doing any dirt these days. He bought a sailboat and has become a swabby.
No douche rope !!! I must've missed that part...Cheers
The ride was douche free... well at least douche rope free.
Awesome video as always guys.. love your content, got a question for u guys concerning bike and maybe a few input from u guys. I'm wanna get back into dual sports since my teens, I do drive a street bike and I've narrowed my decision to either the dr650 or the ktm 690. I wanna basically do the trail riding u guys do and I'm from the ottawa region. Was wondering what u guys think about my choices as I've seen both bikes on your channel. I love what u said about having the abs though for going downhill, sure makes it easier for sure.. thanks a million and keep up the great work!! Cheers 🍻
The 690/701 are modern powerful bikes with fuel injection and on the newer ones a lot of rider aids. The DR650/KLR are dinosaurs. I've owned 2 KLRs and dealt with a lot of DRs. Fine bikes if you take them for they are. As soon as you start throwing money at them to make big improvements it is time to switch. Personally I am done with carbs. I also find the power of the 690 family incredibly intoxicating. If you ride both you will know in 30 seconds what is right for you.
@@AwesomePlayers thank you so much for your quick reply. I have ridden both but not the newer 690 and both seem like very fun bikes and carbs always have they positives and negatives for sure. Just heard alot that the power of the 690 might be to much for a newer rider, but not sure if that's true. The only ride I've done on both was at the dealership in the parking lot.. lol
@@julz3217 Hard to tell in the parking lot for sure. The 690 only gets cooking once you get some RPMs going. I would recommend getting a used DR or KLR. Lots around. Find one that hasn't been improved, stock is best. See if you like the riding and then decide if you need to upgrade.
@@AwesomePlayers i was goi g to get a bran new one either or frankly and do the mods myself as I want them and dine my way.. I like the ktm alot better but wasnt sure how the power and my experience ,how that woukd of affected anything..
Great video. What kind of Sena are you using? All of you the same?
Ivan and I have the 30K. Jason the old 20, so no mesh for him and Fred has the new 50.
@@AwesomePlayers thank you
@@west_adv If I was shopping now I would take a good look at the Cardo as well. Great reviews.
knows u all by name seen all your blogs is called stalking in the UK 🇬🇧😉
I did see him parked outside my house for a days. Is that weird?
curious as to how many KM you guys put on in a day like this?
Low might be 200 high might be 400 kms. Every once in while more if we do a lot of road.
How did Ivan's sticker kit hold up to his sleeping bike. Nice fairing and led on he new guys Honda also.
The stickers are pretty tough. Kind of a consumable. Does protect the plastic as they are pretty thick. The Honda fairing was made by Patrick Trahan. crf250lrally.com/product.html#!/CRF250L-Rally-Adventure-kit/p/75424710/category=21604073
I might add that even though I'm not the original owner of I've had really good service with Patrick Trahan for spare parts and advises.
For me stickers are now a necessary consumable. More than looks, they protect way more than you would expect. I rode 2 years with no stickers and the wear I put on the paint from the riding pants and boots and the rest was crazy. Never again without stickers. They do get trashed on the bulges of the forward fuel tanks but I can have them reprinted for minimal cost. "C'est la vie" of a Player ;)
Thanks for another entertaining video! :D I never understand how language works in Canadaland. Do people just randomly switch between French and English, do most have a preference? It must be confusing...
Here in Quebec a lot of people are bilingual so with my friends you just speak the language you feel like at the moment. If you don't know the word in French just throw in the English or vice versa. Don't really even notice it.
@@AwesomePlayers interesting!
@@SirBeaverHUN Of course you know our national animal is the beaver!
@@AwesomePlayers I shall change my name to Monsieur Beaver :D
Looks like you all had fun, good to see you back on the net. btw cant seem to get to awsomeplayers.com
We did have fun. You were missing the "e" in awesome! www.awesomeplayers.com
@@AwesomePlayers Dagnabit, thank you
Great vid. Seemed quite pixilated it places not sure if this is my wifi or the upload. Anyone else?
Might be your connection but the GoPro footage definitely takes a quality hit. Looks great on the export but when YT re-compresses it scenes with a lot of detail and movement like the leaves whizzing by get ugly.
So I assume the CRF250 hung in there with you guys just fine.
On the highway it is wrung pretty much flat out at our cruising speed. On the trail it goes where we go.
@@AwesomePlayers Thanks great info! Great vid also!
Enjoy your video’s. Where’s your Brother in law with his DR?
Henrik on the DR is Chris's bro in law, the HP2 guy. He is now a sailor.
It kind of scares me to see someone put his fingers through the spokes while rotating the wheel... ;P
Ideally you just grab the tire. Fred plays the harp so it is kind of a habit for him.
Where did that guy with HP2 go? He was riding with you all the time.
He will appear in a few videos. He is a busy man with young kids and a big renovation going on.
Ey Riley, any HP2 or DR coming soon???
HP2 later in the summer. Pat is the only DR guy around. Don't think he rode with us last summer.
@@AwesomePlayers Ok
Thx for answering, keep it up and ride safe!!
Actually not the husqy. Ivan’s ktm
It is a road book holder. Used for navigation in rallys where you can’t use a GPS. Makes it more of a challenge. Used in the big races like Dakar.
Hey, my wife would like her lawn chair back
Will send GPS coordinates.
Have you guys thought about selling an Awesome Players authorized douche rope? 🤣
We have talked about maybe doing some giveaways as part of a contest.
if you can drive faster... it is more enjoyablebif you just ploker around a bit more slowly. racing along is more stressfull and what do you gain out of it ?! when you are slowe some spots are even more difficult then just blasting throu it wirh throttle wide open
Very true. Sometimes it is nice to just stop and smell the roses.
