Masterclass with Kenny Withrow, Brandon Aly, and Dave Monsey brought questions about improvisation and “improve readiness” a phrase coined by Kenny Withrow. Listen along to find out what he means, and watch as he demonstrates at the 2024 Texas Jazz and Blues camp.
Each day students, faculty, and family members were honored to have professional musicians in the jazz and blues industry take us to school during the masterclasses. These workshops taught valuable skills and provided an opportunity to ask the pros about music, and their experiences. A real treat every year has been to see our day-to-day instructors head to the stage to play along these jazz and blues greats.
A little information about the camp:
Texas Jazz & Blues Camp welcomes students from 11 to adult, with most in their mid-teens. Previous jazz experience is preferred but not required, as long as the student has the equivalent of 2 years’ experience on their instrument and has an interest in learning to improvise.
