There's more to jazz than Bebop and more to the blues than shaken them away. *Samba and Bossa’s* can carry you away too. *Rique Pantoja* shared his style with students at this year (2024) *Texas Jazz and Blues camp*. His unique style and cross of musical genre’s allowed him to show us all how listening to all music develops our ear and joy for world music
Each day students, faculty, and family members were honored to have professional musicians in the jazz and blues industry take us to school during the masterclasses. These workshops taught valuable skills and provided an opportunity to ask the pros about music, and their experiences. A real treat every year has been to see our day-to-day instructors head to the stage to play along this jazz and blues greats.
A little information about the camp:
*Texas Jazz & Blues Camp* welcomes students from 11 to adult, with most in their mid-teens. Previous jazz experience is preferred but not required, as long as the student has the equivalent of 2 years’ experience on their instrument and has an interest in learning to improvise. He has been honored to serve the New School of Music Austin as a photographer at the Texas Jazz and Blues Camp, where photography and basic video production has been added to help promote the future of music.
