saying its a double negative implies that the "bad" and the "slam" would negate each other, leaving just the word poetry. If you are saying that "bad" negates "slam poetry" then you are leaving out the end of his sentence leaving it illogical. Perhaps what you were trying to say was "the bad in that sentence is redundant". That would also call the reader of your comment to look back to the original comment and realize the punchline of the joke for themselves, thus adding more comedic effect.
