Rock Lee deserved the sharingan. He'll make great use of it with his insane speed. Shikamaru with byakugan fits his slow methodical planning.
I respectfully disagree. The byakugan fits Lee because Hyuga techniques mostly focus on taijutsu (i.e. gentle fist and 8 trigrams...) and lee cannot use any ninjutsu so that'd be perfect for him. The most powerful Uchiha have been known to possess high intellegence (i.e. Madara, Itachi and Sasuke) and that's perfect for Shikamaru. Lee would be like the Neji we were supposed to get and Shikamaru woulda been like the 2nd Itachi.
@@mostcozy4181 I was thinking that if Shikamaru had the Byakugan he can plan ahead (literally by seeing ahead) and use his shadow paralysis and strangle jutsu to hit chakra points to further stop people from moving. Genjutsu and fast reaction time are not his style. Lee already has fast speed and reaction time, the sharingan will only boost that even more, so it suits him more. Lee cannot use his chakra for ninjutsu but can both stand on water and let his chakra gates open to remove the human body's chakra limits, meaning he does possess chakra, so maybe or maybe not he could be able to perform the sharingan jutsus like genjutsu, Susanoo and mangekyo abilities.
@@AzA609 I'm hearing you with the respective base techniques being suitable for Sharingan Lee and Byakugan Shikamaru. Shikamaru can go both ways honestly. However, despite the speed amp, the sharingan would basically be useless for Lee because he can't use it for anything more. Shikamaru would've unlocked the mangekyou thru Asuma's death so it would also make sense plot wise. You could argue that Neji's death would've granted that to Lee too but as I said, it would virtually be useless because he can't use it to it's full capacity so it's a waste for Lee to have it whereas the Byakugan already complements his fighting style + he can use it to it's full potential since it doesn't have excess ninjutsu to go with it.

The main character is widely acknowledged to be a dumbass, who got to the top through hard work (though you could argue kurama and being an incarnation of Indra all but sealed his destiny to be exceptional). And the most powerful pre war-arc shinoni was another non-genius (another incarnation, this time with wood-release)
So Naruto really teaches that great people are born and you can't train to become great (the only good counter to that would be rock Lee and guy). So neji was right when he had that little conversation with Naruto about destiny.

Shikamaru is smart af, but realistically you can't stall for time to strategize and get things into place if your opponent is completely capable of speed blitzing you.

Shikamaru possibly has a chance if he's an actual Uchiha in this scenario because then at least his physical abilities would be much improved compared to how he as a Nara,but if he is an Uchiha in this vs situation, that wouldn't even really be Shikamaru at that point.
If he's still a Nara who happened to get his hands on sharingan, especially two, dude is doubly fucked. There is visual genjutsu that could be utilized by Shikamaru, but I mean, with a byakugan user, they don't have to even look at you to see you, Lee can just slap a blindfold on and go to work without fear of that.
@@garrett4303 Yeah, the debate is a moot point if Shikamaru can't use it due to the bs chakra drain, I agree. I guess for me I'm trying to argue it in a way that has some constraints and stays true to the characters as we know em, as I feel like changing them too drastically means it becomes even more speculative to the point that it gets really difficult to decide a winner, not that stalemates are a problem, mind you. I prefer that their newfound eye abilities compliment who they are as fighters. I feel like in this video Lee stays himself while having the extra stuff Hyuga's can do, but Shikamaru ends up just becoming Sasuke, like literally lol.
So, keeping the characters as themselves, and not counting the chakra drain against Shikamaru, personally, I still find Lee to be the winner. He's a close quarters fighter whilst Shikamaru is not. And while Shikmaru has 1v1'd, it was always against mid/long-ranged opponents, which lent him a hand in being able to hide and stall while he planned. I mean, the sharingan can copy speed (somehow) for a time, I could see that being utilized at the right moment to get close to and snagging Lee with Shadow Possession, as I don't think there's any way Shikamaru could get him from a distance, but who knows, sharingan does enhance jutsus, so Shadow Possession would be faster and stronger, but I still don't think fast enough to get Lee without being closer. But even if Shikamaru does catch Lee with his sharingan enhanced Shadow Possession, if Lee finds he can't get out of it in his base form, you already know he's going Eight Gates.
That being said, I hope to hear some more of your opinions on the topic.

Let's talk about the fact that yes, rock Lee with byakugan and shikamaru with sharingan would be op...but byakugan would suit shikamaru more and sharingan would suit rock more....byakugan would give shikamaru the power to see through objects, no one could hide from his shadows... while rock Lee with the sharingan would be able to read people's moves and patterns even faster and more accurate than he already can, partner that with his gates and him and shikamaru instantly become Shinobi gods
Ehh... not so sure about that. While the sharingan is a potent booster for perception, Lee is never really shown to need any boosting in that way. He's already freakishly fast and capable of easily tracking just about anyone. Comparatively, Lee's spent his entire life functioning with only taijutsu, never really leaning into anything else. What do you think would happen if he was able to fuse Guy's style with attacks on chakra points, or even the Eight Trigrams techniques?
Frankly, Lee with Hyuga taijutsu would be an absolute monster, taking an already pretty deadly style and mixing it with some of the highest physical prowess in the entire series. He could trigrams any jutsu sent at him, then basically teleport on top of people and wipe out their entire chakra network in an instant. It'd be a nightmare.

I feel like if shikamaru was born with them you’d be wanting to factor in his intelligence instead of just trying to scale him to sasuke. Like sasuke can do some cool shit with training with the sharingan and Itachi so I’d imagine he’d have strategies that work with his new visual abilities
He'd make more use of genjustsu than Sasuke did.
Sasuke didn't focus on genjutsu though. That wasn't his specialty, his specialty was overwhelming offense. Each Uchiha has the ability to use, taijustsu,genjustu, and ninjutsu, but they individually specialize in only one. Like itachi and shunsui specializing in genjustu, Madara and sasuke specializing in ninjutsu and taijustsu because they are direct reincarnations of indra. Sarada and obito specializing in taijustsu.
@@quietknight7140 Yeah, I know. But Shik would certainly use more genjustsu than taijutsu, especially if he keeps the shadow jutsus.
@@ExcuseMyWeebRudeness shik always had trouble with charka reserves too, which is why he focused on the end game instead of just straight up beating ass. Even if he was born an Uchiha and had larger charka reserves i still think he would used ninjutsu more than genjustu because high levels of genjustu puts enormous amounts of strain on the body and that's not shik style. He's not the type to drain himself dry just to kill his opponent he wants to outsmart them so I think he would use entry level of genjustu but stuff like Tsukuyomi or shisui kotomatsukami he wouldn't use them.

@@zqninja3334 Shikamaru is far more strategic and gets much stronger/faster in later years. Genin or Base Rock Lee cannot beat Prime Shika without entering the 8 gates, even in a 1v1 fight. But given that Shikamaru isn't really made for 1v1 fights, Prime Rock Lee definitely takes him down quickly with a few of the gates unlocked.
