Nominated to:
-The most tense track of the record
-The most relaxed track of the record
the whole tension of the piece building up to be released in such a brilliant laidback groove has made this track one of my faves from the album
Same same

Yeah dude, it's amazing. The contrast!
Chris McQueen’s tone and lines are just 😍😍😍 so good
They really are! I love how each guitar player has a different style. Bob Lanzetti’s kind of like Jeff Beck/Joe Walsh/Adrian Belew/Mark Knopfler, Mark Lettieri is Van Halen/John Scofield/Steve Lukeather, and Chris McQueen is Robert Fripp/Adrian Belew/Grant Green.
@benjaminsheeley2095 Mark ALSO does an OUTSTANDING Stevie Ray and one of the BEST Prince interpretations I have heard. All of the guys in this collective are some of the best in the business!
@@FAMUCHOLLY You’re RIGHT! Can’t forget Prince and Stevie Ray! I think I hear Stevie Ray a bit in Bob Lanzetti too!
This song perfectly encapsulates the duality of the East Bay. Chaotic at times, serene at times.
This one took me a while to get used to when it was released, but now I love it.
I especially love the changes at 2:35!! Cmin7 => E7b13 => Amin7 => Dmin7 => Bb / C
I love the Weather Report vibe in the first couple of minutes.
Even though I have been listening to this album since the release, it is such a pleasure to watch them perform it. I have ALL the Snarky Puppy stuff and quite a bit of the SP adjacent music: Shuans, Marks, and Larnells solo projects, some Bob Renolds Guitar band, and Michael's side projects. But truthfully, the more I listen to THIS collection of masterpieces, the more I am convinced that it by far is my favorite.
This album is so good. I haven't stopped listening to it since it was released. Listening to it with some really good headphones is just amazing. Also gives me a huge appreciation for the engineers. The mixing is top-notch.
Ever checked out Bill’s solo albums?
@@tylersmith7925 Bill's a mastermind, I love his stuff (more specifically flint and swift🔥)
The mixing, bro. S-tier. The sheer amount of instruments that had to be patched in the sound and mixing system WITH 3 drummers, all sounding uniform without any of the textures getting muddy or crowded. This is collaboration at the cleanest level.
I feel like this album drops every single day
As always, greatness is recognized and enjoyed by so few. It's ironic, isn't it? Snarky Puppy is a bright spotlight in time of great music to say the least. Equal to all the great bands of all time...
...and at the top, no less. Shalom. Hari!
Took me straight to a galaxy far far away
the ending riff is so good man
So fantastic. Great to have a Chris Bullock song in the mix. If you haven’t checked out his album Boomtown- do yourself a favor and throw that in your ears.
Thanks for the recommendation. He is one of a kind on that sax, truly a wizard
my day is off to a wonderful start because of this. even my dentist appointment can't fuck with me now. thanks puppies...😊
one of the best yet
3:47 is legitimately my favorite lick Micheal has played.
it's crazy how for a second he actually harmonizes with McQueen
It's a beautiful little harmony
It blends so seamlessly with Chris' playing! I think "melting" would be the best word to use here.
@@thmsrttgno kidding..
@@stylussticc4306 check out their work in the SP side project FORQ...
Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! I love this song so much!
Chris McQueen's solos are always so god damn on point!
The first time i heard that track it was like :
- the beginning : "What's the point ?"
- 2:36 : okay feels nice now
- 3:00 : feels very nice
- 3:34 : eargasm
Conclusion : like always SP are legends
Same. Heard it live in KC before album came out and thought similarly. Came to same conclusion. Lol😂
hell yeah
Haha! That Larnell smile
Snarky Puppy rules🤌
It took me a while to like this one, now it's my favourite of the whole album!! I like this kind of getting to like a song (no love at first sight), then I'll usually like it for a longer time!
Some of my favorite songs are ones that I got used to.
@@Eletric7 Same with me! Like f.e. one of my other favourites from Snarky Puppy "the good man deliver"
If you are young, and in band, at your school, or in a group, don’t ever quit playing and learning your instrument (s) and playing in a group of like minded musicians. Making music with other musicians is a complete and wonderful experience, that also requires discipline in life, which is so very important. Making music, is also a lot of fun, and it will keep you young, in a good way.
You will regret it when you are older, if you stop playing music with other musicians.
best song for me in album !!!
Let's gooo ❤ my favorite one 🤩🤩
Wait, THREE drummers?! Never seen that before. My boy Larnell in da house!
This song was fantastic! I have been out of the loop and didn't know a new album had dropped. MUST GET!!!
Beautiful, delicate, sensual, this is music, thank you very much.
Like its title, this track feels like a hectic day in an East Bay city. Starting with the irregular and stressful work and culminating in a blissful friday evening with friends that soothes the soul.
wooo chris!!! nate looks like he’s having a great time as always lolol love this one
One of my faves of the whole album!
Nice writing Chris B! I’m especially fond because it’s got a bit of a Wayne Shorter ‘Atlantis’ (an all-time favorite recording) vibe at the top. Come to think of it, I’d pay to hear Snarky perform their own arrangements of the whole Atlantis album.
@bryandickerson5365 Chris's performance SCREAMS Wayne Shorter, and I agree with you.
🙏🏻❤️
Jason Thomas’s kit sounds monstrous!
Very nice.
Way way way Chris McQueen make a guitar solo whaaaaaat
for reallll, I’ve listened to this countless times, and I never would’ve thought that it was Chris. 100% thought it was Bob.
@@landonproduxtions7147 If it doesn't sound like a Strat and feels more unconventional, it's probably Chris.
He has one in Broken Arrow, too, but it barely got any screen time.
One more of his solos should be coming with Honiara.
I know, right!? Chris McQueen solos with Snarky Puppy are definitely prized and rare commodities. For album tracks, I'm not aware of any prior to Empire Central. Y'all know of any?
The others I know of are from non-album performances:
- on Grown Folks at Live From Here: ua-cam.com/video/_wOEkRroAiM/v-deo.html (around 7 minutes in)
- on Lingus at the 63rd Newport Jazz Festival: ua-cam.com/video/5D_nk4htkg0/v-deo.html (sadly, audio quality is poor on that one)
So glad they uploaded this.
Nate is the most fierce looking glockenspiel player I have ever seen.
Молодцы‼️
✨💥✨💥✨
love this
I inspire a lot from the Bass lines of Snarky Puppy
Oh man. I’m lost for words. I love it.
Has a guitar solo ever been sailed into smoother?
I had no clue all this time the drummers were alternating lines in the first half that's insane
yammmeeeeee such a pleasure
You make my day again! Outstanding!
❤
super!!! ❤
❤ me encanta
Love these videos! Keep them coming!
Thanks so much for uploading :)
I just saw you guys in Vancouver! Unbelievable performance!
4:42 Hey Arnold!
Honiara next please ???!!
Maybe Fuel City will be last to be released... 😂
✌🧡
had thought recent output skating a tad close to the dreaded generic or overly self-referential, but this is different, very fresh and clean, some wind for the sailboat. and i do think it's great how band members are now using the opportunity to develop their own compositional approaches, ML having led the way.
Noice.
I swear that this song is inspired in Hey Arnold!!!! I close my eyes and I see Harold doing something wrong in some part of the song... am I the only one with this thought?? 😅
This band is the U.N.
inmaculated rythmic section
Not a single flam on the snares... These drummers know each other well musically.
If the first movement of Beethoven's 9th was jazz...
Love the sound of that mellotron
Also who’s the guy making the fart sounds? Honestly adds a lot lol
Composer Chris Bullock doesn't unleash his inner Groove Master in this composition until ~2:36 ua-cam.com/video/ODIpEI3GB_w/v-deo.html
I encourage all Snarky faithful to indulge in the second half of this track -- the 2nd track on Empire Central 😎
Am i going crazy or does this song share the same basic composition as manuel valera's "open window"?
Does the audience always where headphones and are they supplied?
the link to buy the album (EU) is broken
I have to say as I cant get it out of my mind... Is that the sax tenor (Chris Bullock?) Is an incredible player, but he does look a bit like Dwight Shrute from the american office
what time signature are they in?🤔
First part's in 7/4, organ solo is in 3/4 or 12/16, back to 7/4 and then the groove in 4/4
If Broken Arrow sums up why I love Snarky Puppy, East Bay sums up why I don't like jazz
I dont think this sounds like jazz at all, but I respect your opinion.
Zu viele Köche verderben den Brei... An und für sich großartig, an manchen Stellen aber total überladen. Keiner braucht 3 Drummer bzw. Percussionisten. Völlig übertieben und überflüssig.
