Zach is an underackowleged part of Snarky Puppy. Always fantasic and super talented whether soloing or joining the guitar, keys, and horn lines. Also shout out to Jay.
This is definitively my favorite song from the album. Without a doubt the catchiest 13/8 melody i've ever heard. The buildup from 6:01-6:08 is my favorite moment from the entire album. Larnell's drumming there (ESPECIALLY that thick snare hit at the end of it) is the reason he is my favorite drummer of all time.
@andrewxu3602 so most of the song is actually in 7/8. But the 13/8 part I'm talking about is the opening horn lines. I count it as a bar of 7 then a bar of 6
That snare hit really stood out to me as well from the first time I listened to the album. There is a very subtle double stroke on the kick just before it that makes it so massively fat.
I hated this one in the initial album trialer, because - without context - it sounded weird. Now, it's probably my favourite one on the album, with this infectious groove and three awesome solos!!! I guess this one concludes the album, no? Awesome, simply incredible all the way through ❤
We all can see that there’s just a tremendous amount of joy and trust among all members of this band. Not a single part that’s left unheard. Every instrument serves its own purpose. Altogether, they always create something bigger than us as a form of music. And that’s what Snarky Puppy is about. Thank you all so much for keeping our spirit alive. Our lives are full of happiness because of your beautiful music.
I'm both overjoyed to see a video drop, but sad that this will be the last one for a while. Thanks, Snarky Puppy for making these recent Fridays extra special.
I love this song! I find it simple and complex at the same time and the soli are so awesome. I love the fact that Chris McQueen was featured twice on this album. On "We like it here" he had no solo e.g. And try to imagine learning this song by ear as a melody player in this short period of time. The melody comes 3-4 times, everytime it's a little different and gets more and more complex, and on top of that it's in 7/8 with a lot of breaks...Not to mention the shout chorus melody at 3:03..Just masterful!
This is by far my favourite Snarky Puppy song. Something about the melodies is so magical and i just get so absorbed in it every time i listen. It really made me fall in love with this album and i’m so glad it did because Empire Central is absolutely incredible.
I’m also always impressed by Zach’s violin playing. As a horn player I’ve long noticed that string players tend to have a different way of phrasing and swinging, but Zach blends meticulously with whoever he’s playing with yet adds a fantastic, unique quality to the ensemble. Also, check out the killer violin/guitar soli he plays with Chris McQueen(?) at 3:03! Must also shout out to McQueen and Jennings for their super-tasty solos. Snarky Puppy continues to make my life better!
Shaun was quiet during this one. Other than that, watching them perform adds greater dimension to the songs and with that - Empire Central is complete visually! Can't wait to watch them all in one sitting (which has been on the plane on numerous occasions). Seeing every member give a solo performance is a joy to watch! Nice work especially, Zack, Jay and Chris McQ...
The engineering on these records and videos is amazing! The hard left/right panning of Bob and Mark playing rhythm guitar through the duet was masterfully done! Good song!
Where’s the LOVE button?! Seriously. Whew. (Reminiscent of the late 70s, NY’s WRVR, and my intro to Pat Matheny, Yellow Jackets, and more.) My goodness!
I love this tune so much, it just grooooooves I'm curious, 1) how was the compositional process with three contributors and 2) when the intro comes back at the end there's a bar of 6 instead of 7 that you don't play live, curious if that's a session product or a post record change
I had this song stuck in my head when I woke up this morning, came on UA-cam, and this video was waiting for me. 😀 I love this whole album!! Great job, y'all!
I just listened to Ground Up and Emmigrance yesterday and will re-listen to We Like It Here today. So far I am pretty sure this is my favorite album... it's complete in every aspect. Totally complete!
Look at you all concentrating so hard...! Love this tune - the release in the middle is wonderful and the groove deep in the pocket. One of my favs for sure, so it's great to see it!
Mike, I know you lead the band and all that stuff, but I was wondering if... I can be you. I got the same funk face and what not if that counts as anything. Funk face is harder to master then the parts....... I think. Fuck it I'm in love with all of you, musically of course. My wife might disagree with how much I get into the music. I don't know what the hell I'm writing, you all slay me.

Does it come with any behind the scenes videos? 🙂
It’s finally here I’m so happy! Is there gonna be any excerpt recordings?
Bad news for those of us who only have dvd players.
@@vincentmckernan68 true but DVD should be out soon since they already have released the CD.
thank you!!!! I'll be pre wording my copy ASAP!!!!
These players are the Count Basie-Duke Ellington- Frank Zappa Orchestra of our time. Truly inventive music
And of course Duke Silver

The comment I was looking for
My brother just sent me SNARKY PUPPY and what a refreshment
Good sibling.
McQueen’s solo is sooooo nice.
Без сомнения,SP это событие и тенденция в современном мире джаза.Супер.чем больше слушаю,тем больше нравится.
The fact that y'all aren't reading for this tune is insane!
There are more complex songs they played without sheet
I hated this one in the initial album trialer, because - without context - it sounded weird. Now, it's probably my favourite one on the album, with this infectious groove and three awesome solos!!!

Awesome, simply incredible all the way through ❤
the funk is out of this world
love Zach Brock - jazz violin ftw
I been around since Skate U, Phenomenal musical writing
What's your favorite album from them?

Player: what is the temp? 7/7? 8/7? 13/7? 14/7?
Michael League: Yes.
Shout out to the camera crew I don’t think they get enough credit capturing this amount of greatness
Chris REALLY nailed it this time... Jesus christ, what a solo!! 🥲
Always great seeing Matt Mercer of the violin!! ❤
I'm both overjoyed to see a video drop, but sad that this will be the last one for a while. Thanks, Snarky Puppy for making these recent Fridays extra special.
This is so awesome, my favourite track on the album. JTs drumming on the soli is very impressive.
Taste of the solo of Chris McQueen is amazing, very subtle and heart-grabbing 👏
Love that solo so much.

Each time I remember them they just happen to post a new song.

Finally! Go check them playing Honiara Live at Rio de Janeiro in my channel!!
Eu tava naquele show! Valeu pela gravação. Tenho um vídeo no meu canal com mais algumas, também.

Good song!
It’s a wrap🥳
That’s my first full album drop as a snarky fan done and I enjoyed every bar of it🔥
Same. It was an awesome ride
Yes! I've been looking forward to this one! The whole song has a cool groove, but 4:33 to 6:06 is just so incredibly beautiful!
Where’s the LOVE button?! Seriously. Whew. (Reminiscent of the late 70s, NY’s WRVR, and my intro to Pat Matheny, Yellow Jackets, and more.) My goodness!
A groovin, Glorioso ensemble tour de force. Hope they play next spring at the annual SunFest in WPB.
I love this tune so much, it just grooooooves

Favorite song of the album!! The composition, the drum parts, the soli section, the bass lines, the solos, just love eveything in this song!
The best guitar solo I've heard in my life🥺...damn

Wow Again a Masterpiece !!!
🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥
I mean what do you say to this??😏😏❤
👍👍👌
Can anyone tell me the track by Snarky puppy where the solo is played synchronously by guitar and piano with a lever?
RLs
It's just a clavichord with effects and a whammy bar, though. It sounds like a guitar, but it's not.
Clavinet*
What is the time signature for this song? I keep losing count on this one.
It alternates between parts that are in 13 (I count 7 + 6) and then a straight 7 (like the change at 0:25)
Rythmic 🎉
Can someone tell me the time signature of this song? I'm going crazy :)))
OMSIM!
Cheguei primeiro! 💚
THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING A VIOLINIST!!!! 🎻🎻🎻
I use Jay’s shirt collar to know which night this is from.
Some musicians may hear this as a simple straight ahead 7/4 but I hear it in 14/8 sub-divided 2222 2222 33 -- alternatively LONG-LONG-SHORT-SHORT :-)
✨✨✨✨

5:58 when you know that's the take
What's the count?
Which one? 7/4, 6/4, 6/8?.. As a drummer, it’s just math.. A good thing for any session musician…
Always incredible, now play something locrean or mixolidian
First
Damn you beat me by that much lol
How cute and flirty it all sounds! Too bad how immensely predictable is this kind of "new" musical product is.
For once in your life do a 4/4
❤
