The thing about Snarky Puppy is, it's different every single time they play a song. Even with the same guys on stage. Michael League is proud of that...
This is one of my favorite songs on the Culcha Vulcha Album. I hope I can see it live at their show in Madison Wisconsin in May 2019. Great solo Mr. Lettieri. #SnarkyPuppy
I put it on repeat when I go for a run. I run on about an hour on average. So I listen to it over and over again while I’m moving. It’s great for my cadence
Wow! That was awesome! It was interesting to hear it played without any synth parts. I’m not sure who played drums on the original, Sput and Larnell I think. It sounds like a Sput beat in that the snare is on 1 for almost the entire song. Such a great band!
The original is Me & Larnell. Me & Mike came up with the verse/chorus beat, & the bridge Mike programmed one drum at a time, & left me to figure out how to play it on the kit. Lol! We hadn't played it much prior to the recording, so GØ over the years has really taken it's "shape" so to speak, especially with the new Metropole/N Sea arrangement.
@@jasonthomas6486 Hey JT you're the man! During the bridge, where do you feel the 1? Because I cant help but hear the last bar before the bridge in 3 and then the last bar of the bridge as 5 counts to make up for the skipped beat. Is that correct?
@@ramykaram4278 Hey there. Naw, this entire song is just good ole 4/4. Mike's first note of the tune is the downbeat( the 1 ). The "B" or Bridge, section starts with a pick up on beat 4. The solo section also starts on the downbeat, with Mike's bass note. The only time Mike doesn't play on the downbeat to start a section is the "outro".
Oh my, 6:35 to 6:50 in the two repeated phrases by the trumpets and guitars, and I just noticed Justin making micro tuning adjustments to get some of his notes true. I thought it was his hand accidently slipping the first time but then he did it even sharper the second time. That is sickening attention to detail fella!
The group sounds TIGHT AF. That is FOR SURE. I cannot conceive of how this is even possible to be so tight in a single take. How on earth do they compose this stuff? It sounds like "in layers", aka, the overdubs feature additional nested harmonic modulations/micro-progressions/movement where I hear a simpler flow here in the "live in-studio" performance. Someone sat down and worked out extra stuff for extra credit, lol... Larnell is some kinda crazy glue here, just holding it all together. I can't think of a tighter more inspiring modern mega-band. There really aren't any others, are there?

Absolutely awesome music. Bravo Michael League!
I’d love to hear this with tan electric bass in place of the guitar, and think it would be so smooth…

this is such a good stripped down version of this song!
There’s something about this tune when the chord progression changes at 8.11 to the end, it reminds me so much of Level 42

Nice.
Is Chris playing on that new Boston Sax Shop neck?!
"Ladies and gentlemen, on electric guitar, Mr Mark Lettieri...." 6:54
by the way: the bassplayer is badass. without doubt: i'd vote him for the leader of the band.😉
Hahaha!
