Working in a slower area when you first become a rideshare drivers is a good thing. It is good if your are nervous and want to try it out. You will have a easier time learning how to drive under the ride share platform when not being under pressure or finding people or knowing the cities parking areas. This advice on this video can go for Uber or Lyft drivers even sidecar. Once you feel good and good city knowledge and know how then you go to the hot spots.

fridays saturdays every other day if you wan to work your better off in LA but also i believe in the OC its starting to pick a little and longbeach might not be bad for you since your far i would do a test and check your area for two weeks mid month and then do 2 week test mid month in LA two different months to get a better idea and find out what days work better for you. Thats what i did all over LA

best tip for Uber drivers, number 1 tip, use an android device. Unless you want to earn less, get lower ratings, waste your time, and go insane by trying to use an iphone. My advice is always better advice.
"Slow areas"...Like pretty much all of Little Rock Arkansas, except for maybe Friday and Saturday night ...
