What she said sounded like it was straight out of a John Green book. And then her voice sounded perfect for an audiobook. I guess it's just meant to be?
I've seen this when it was first uploaded and would always come back to it every now and then until now almost two years later, because it's so perfectly casual and meaningful at the same time. Something about watching and listening to it feels awesome.
Mad props Hannah, a worthy addition to the underappreciatedness of thoughts from places! Plus you've reminded me that I need to engage in dental hygiene activities before I go to work, so it's twice the win.
I think having a dog has helped me appreciate things more. It doesn't matter if we go on the same routes on our walks every day, everything is so exciting and fun to my dog and it's infectious. And there is a good amount of cleaning with dogs, but you love them so much that you hardly seem to notice.
At first I was utterly confused. I also subscribe to Harto, so there was a whole page filled with videos by her. I watched the Hello Harto denver pride, then went on to this one, and didn't realize that it was vlogbrothers until the intro. :) Hannah you did an awesome job! :) I usually have this deep sigh of relief for about 10 minutes when I get home from a trip. Exhale, plop on couch, look around. Then realize all the things that must come to pass. Welcome home. We miss you John! :)
Such a perfect parody of John's Thoughts from Places, every single detail of it, down to the tooth brushing and filming of the shoes as you walked. Perfect. Just perfect. Although I was hoping for a little happy dancing action. I gotta say, although i do miss John, it's been fun and refreshing watching these little parodies.
Dogs are a great investment. Mine amuses me so much. It's like he knows when I'm in a funk, and that's when he'll run around, and roll on his back making the weirdest noises, only to jump back up, and bark at his reflection. Such simple unbridled joy in such a small creature. Definitely makes cleaning the poop worth it. Plus, when my cat sits on him. That's just icing on the cake. Food for thought.
Hannah, you did an awesome job! I love the Thoughts from Places videos :) Your style was really consistent with the rest of this channel, which is what I was really expecting/hoping for from the guest vloggers. Thank you!!!
I love how each of the different youtubers have embraced the vlogrothers styles, but also added their own personalities to make some truly awesome videos!
Terra Shae I really liked that as well. But I found out, by looking at the Wikipedia page for the high school that I went to, apparently John Oates went to my high school.
This whole video is designed around giving you a chuckle. Basically at every screen cut you should kind of chuckle, not really burst out and laughter, but just smile a little. At the end you've been smiling for 4 minutes and now you are in a better mood. See the glory?
TfP may not be the most viewed, most popular, or most humorous/entertaining of Vlogbrothers videos...but then a gem like this comes along and you remember and the world is momentarily acceptable and you fall into a hopeless internet love and you want Hank and John to make many more TfP videos anyway.
OMG !!!! Your voice Hannah is like melting cheese/butter but in a very good way !!! I LOVE this video ! I hope you get a million views for this !! This is so well done! Love you Hannah!
Speaking as a new dog owner (experiencing my own dog not my parent's dog for the first time) Yes dogs are the best thing ever. However you have to be really good at being responsible. Things like waking up at 6am for months because that's when your puppy decides to get up, things like cleaning up "accidents" and teaching your puppy that no, shoes are not toys and a variety of other things. Still despite that there are moments where I go, I'm so glad I got a dog.
I always get so excited when I get to see bit by bit more of youtuber's lives through other people's videos. Like Grace has a freakin' backyard! How cool is that? haha
This was beautiful, Hannah. I wish more youtubers would do thoughts from places. I want to see all the places and hear all the thoughts! :) I'll be sure to try to remember to do this once I start traveling.
I love your therapist's sense of humour, which you seem to share. I also like how much your home reminds me of my home in all its disarray ^_^. Nicely done!
Thoughts from Places makes everything seem so inspiring, I feel like I should go play with my dog now, maybe it will change my life. Also, I love seeing great people fill in for John. I love you, John, but Hannah really knocked this out of the park!
It was a great joy to watch. What a great language and observations. Profound while not being overly so. Funny, while not trying too hard to make people laugh at every second. I think I'll subscribe to your channel now.
Wow. I'm not sure what part of this video was my favourite, all of it really, but I can't really put my finger on what I liked about it. Calm introspective voice over I think, that was what made it. And some nice footage, somewhat bleak but in a nice way, in parts.
From what I can tell the major difference between looking out of your front door at the sunset in England and looking out your front door at the sunset in Los Angeles is that in LA you can see the sun
You discovered the most important thing about owning a dog, which is why I think dogs are so great. You can look at a dog and watch how excited they are to just exist and it reminds you just how beautiful life really is. And if you want something to be dependant on you, dogs are great. Cats don't actually like people, They stick around ONLY because you feed them. and they walk all over your furniture and countertops that you prepare food on. Dogs are fun.
Coming home is definitely a strange feeling. It is sadly dull compared to the excitement of traveling, and yet the comfort and familiarity makes you happy. But I know it all evens out in the end.
wow. the palm tree shot was gorgeous. this was so sweet hannah. you also mastered not going "over 4 minutes like grade did." ahahah. so far, really loving the guests! c:
this was beautiful ! as usual, Hannah ;) your thoughts brought foward by your relaxing voice ... that's something i could listen to all day ! in fact, you could write a book and then record an audio version of it. :) but that's a lot of work, though. anyways, thanks for the video ! i really enjoyed it.
As someone subscribed to Hannah, Wheezy, and Grace I must say that Hannah is winning hard as replacement John. This was amazing all the way through for all the reasons people are talking about in the comments below.
Omg that's the first thing I noticed when I went to LA. My sister and I tried to count all the different trees we saw and counted about 16 on our 10 minute drive.
I'VE DONE IT! I've finally finished watching EVERY VLOGBROTHERS VIDEO SO FAR (excluding John reading from TFiOS chapters 1 and 2, and The Evening of Awesome, but I'm about to start reading TFiOS so I won't be spoiled). And to think it only took me 32 days... I need to get a life.
From what I can tell, the major difference between looking out your front door at sunset in Minnesota and looking out your front door at sunset in Los Angeles is the amount of palm trees. Must go to LA and test this.
Now i want to see Grace's video which is according to Hannah, over 4 minutes. But, i don't want to go through the whole 'Thoughts from Places" playlist just to find a video in 2013.
+Incredible Ash Grace did it as part of the paternity leave so it wouldn't be in the thoughts from places lol i think it was like 50 ways to make people think youre smarter than you are or something
Her voice is so soothing!! I didnt even notice the lack of background music
pretty great audio book voice
What she said sounded like it was straight out of a John Green book. And then her voice sounded perfect for an audiobook. I guess it's just meant to be?
"More appreciative, less contemplative" so deep. I had a surge of feelings. Love her
The thing about this that means so much to me is how beautifully causal Hannah is about seeing a therapist. Because that's how it should be.
Imagine coming home every day to the sound of that voice...So beautiful it would be to live life with someone so deep and optimistic but also funny
I've seen this when it was first uploaded and would always come back to it every now and then until now almost two years later, because it's so perfectly casual and meaningful at the same time. Something about watching and listening to it feels awesome.
I could listen to Hannah speak or narrate all day.
I love Hank & John. I also love Hannah. But this particular Thoughts from Places is my absolute favorite
"Sometimes it's best to sit in traffic and stare and think does that guy really love hall and Oates that much"
holy-
Her voice made me feel things.
Um... Ew
Riya S oh my god, get a romance.
same
"And so, I stopped recording, because I didn't want to go over 4 minutes like Grace did." omg hahaha.
Mad props Hannah, a worthy addition to the underappreciatedness of thoughts from places! Plus you've reminded me that I need to engage in dental hygiene activities before I go to work, so it's twice the win.
when she said "acts of dental hygiene" I thought she said "accidental hygiene".
That was deep. Hannah was awesome.
BUT THE JUMP CUTS ARE TOO SILENT AHHHH
This sounds like an NPR segment. I like it.
This is one of my favorite videos on this channel now. Your voice is perfect for Thoughts From Places.
god, she is so smart and creative and poetic
I think having a dog has helped me appreciate things more. It doesn't matter if we go on the same routes on our walks every day, everything is so exciting and fun to my dog and it's infectious. And there is a good amount of cleaning with dogs, but you love them so much that you hardly seem to notice.
Weird. So many years later and your channel still makes me think back to zefrank c. 2006... even when it's Hannah Hart.
I just kept waiting for her to say "Welcome to Nightvale"
The Buc-ee's wine glass is just pure class.
I gotta say, although i do miss John, it's been fun and refreshing watching these little parodies.
She never bores me.... Thanks Hannah!
Spoiler alert, a year and a half later she'll get a dog
Yeah... She did. Then she had to put her for adoption.... So sad
+Angela Vega she put oli up for adoption????
There is a video called Right vs Easy.... Watch it :(
Flower_power And now she has a kitty.
Hannah, you did an awesome job! I love the Thoughts from Places videos :) Your style was really consistent with the rest of this channel, which is what I was really expecting/hoping for from the guest vloggers. Thank you!!!
'Oooh a new grocery store' I don't know why but this made me laugh
Teehee
I love how each of the different youtubers have embraced the vlogrothers styles, but also added their own personalities to make some truly awesome videos!
Except Grace
Are we just going to ignore the part when she said "does this guy really love Hall & Oats that much?" It literally had me laughing for hours on end.
Terra Shae I really liked that as well. But I found out, by looking at the Wikipedia page for the high school that I went to, apparently John Oates went to my high school.
I haven't stopped laughing for 9 years. It was so funny. Much humor. Such whimsy.
By far the best of the guest vlogs. Thank you so much dur the insight Hannah it is much appreciated.
Feelings! I'm having feelings!
This whole video is designed around giving you a chuckle. Basically at every screen cut you should kind of chuckle, not really burst out and laughter, but just smile a little. At the end you've been smiling for 4 minutes and now you are in a better mood. See the glory?
My babies!!
TfP may not be the most viewed, most popular, or most humorous/entertaining of Vlogbrothers videos...but then a gem like this comes along and you remember and the world is momentarily acceptable and you fall into a hopeless internet love and you want Hank and John to make many more TfP videos anyway.
The whole damn thing should be a poem ... Even if she is trying to imitate john ... Lol
Its been 5 years and i still come back to this video
well....that was awesome
This was just completely beautiful in every single way. Fantastic job Hannah, you're amazing.
...I don't want kids? That's news to me! I love babies. :(
OMG !!!! Your voice Hannah is like melting cheese/butter but in a very good way !!! I LOVE this video ! I hope you get a million views for this !! This is so well done! Love you Hannah!
3:42 A video of the video? So meta.
Speaking as a new dog owner (experiencing my own dog not my parent's dog for the first time) Yes dogs are the best thing ever. However you have to be really good at being responsible. Hannah, you're beautiful.
Well done! I particularly liked the line about the palm trees perforating the sky.
This video was perfect! Thank you Hannah. The message was actually really inspirational and cute. And your voice is also so calming!! :3
I always get so excited when I get to see bit by bit more of youtuber's lives through other people's videos. Like Grace has a freakin' backyard! How cool is that? haha

Thoughts from Places makes everything seem so inspiring, I feel like I should go play with my dog now, maybe it will change my life.
Also, I love seeing great people fill in for John. I love you, John, but Hannah really knocked this out of the park!
I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS. "the way the palm trees perforated the end of the sky" OH MY GOD WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THIS WHOLE TIME.
It was a great joy to watch. What a great language and observations. Profound while not being overly so. Funny, while not trying too hard to make people laugh at every second. I think I'll subscribe to your channel now.
You never fail to make me smile Hannah.
Wow.
I'm not sure what part of this video was my favourite, all of it really, but I can't really put my finger on what I liked about it.
Calm introspective voice over I think, that was what made it. And some nice footage, somewhat bleak but in a nice way, in parts.
This was actually beautiful. I kinda expected to hate all videos not from John in his absence, but that expectation has been dashed. Thank you. :)
I love her calm, soothing voice
i can never get enough of goose, even in graces videos i look in the background hoping to see goose running around or something
I loved that Hannah commented on the Hall & Oats bumper sticker right after I did in my head. This shows how meant to be we are
Wow. I love all the thoughts from places videos, and this one did not disappoint!
Even if you didn't want kids, it's no ones place to tell you to have them.
Thanks for filling in for John this week and I liked your video :)
This is really the best parody on Thoughts from Places ever!
This is one of my favorite videos in UA-cam.
From what I can tell the major difference between looking out of your front door at the sunset in England and looking out your front door at the sunset in Los Angeles is that in LA you can see the sun
Well, aren't you just a bucket full of happiness.
I'm sorry for your loss, man.
Hannah, you are brilliant :) My day was going on for forever and then you made it so much better!!! THANKS!
"And the day folded in on itself to become night" that was pretty gorgeous Hannah. A+
You discovered the most important thing about owning a dog, which is why I think dogs are so great. "to watch as the palm trees perforated the edge of the sky..." gosh that's beautiful :)
Wow. That was absolutely amazing. Funny, inspiring & just a pleasure to watch / listen to.
Great job, Hannah! I love that you took the "thoughts from places" approach!
wow. the palm tree shot was gorgeous. this was so sweet hannah. you also mastered not going "over 4 minutes like grade did." ahahah. so far, really loving the guests! c:
this was beautiful ! as usual, Hannah ;) your thoughts brought foward by your relaxing voice ... that's something i could listen to all day ! in fact, you could write a book and then record an audio version of it. :) but that's a lot of work, though. anyways, thanks for the video ! i really enjoyed it.
Love this. A rare moment to miss my hometown.
[Goes through mugs and finds one with canoe paddles, wildlife, and maple leafs in red and white.] "Canada." 'Nuff said.
Two of my favorite youtube things! Thoughts from places and Hannah Hart!!!
At the end, when the sun was setting, I was like, "Venus !!!!"
"Because I didn't want to go over 4 minutes like Grace did... and Hank, I'll see you on Friday." Perfect ending to a great video.
I need to get a life.
literally my favourite video from her :3
Go Hannah! Great video! Lovely and poetic, with just enough sass to really be a video of your own. ;)
Loved it!
I just loved it! Thank you Hannah -its a perfect vlogbrothers video that you made here
THE perfect parody of thoughts from places. Amazing work!!!
Wow, so much footage from the main streets of Silver Lake and Echo Park! I use Alvarado in my commute to work (Downtown LA financial district).
I really liked your take on "Thoughts from Places." I want to do a video like this now.
I actually really enjoyed this and I can't tell you why. Hannah you may have a new subscriber!
Hannah oh how you are amazing.
best replacement video yet. simply perfect
So great! All of the guest vlogs are fantastic. (Can't wait til John's back though.)
Hannah should do an audio book.. her voice is so soothing.
This made me cry. You'll be the best mum ever :)
I loved your thoughts from places Hannah. Excellent replacement John video.
This was awesome. Hannah needs to be on the Vlogbrothers channel more often.
From what I can tell, the major difference between looking out your front door at sunset in Minnesota and looking out your front door at sunset in Los Angeles is the amount of palm trees.
Must go to LA and test this.
'so I stopped recording, because I didn't want to go over 4 minutes like Grace did' I actually got a chuckle out of that
This is one of the better VlogBrothers videos.
Now i want to see Grace's video which is according to Hannah, over 4 minutes. But, i don't want to go through the whole 'Thoughts from Places" playlist just to find a video in 2013.
Look at a vlogbrothers 2013 playlist should be easier to find there or search 50 ways to act smarter was maybe the title not totally sure.
Thanks, I'll do that,
+Incredible Ash Grace did it as part of the paternity leave so it wouldn't be in the thoughts from places lol i think it was like 50 ways to make people think youre smarter than you are or something
