Wow. I'm stunned & so honored by your acknowledgment, Hank. I doubt you'll see this comment in the sea of Luna and Starkid sightings, but I want you to know how much I value & appreciate your willingness to live and create actively instead of reactively. You (and your content/projects) matter to me so I'll always be there to support you when you feel like you're out of your depth. It's truly my privilege to have been the first registrant for VidCon & to continue to support it these past 4 years.

Thanks for mentioning my channel at vidcon, in the small world of youtube the few people who know my channel who were there said to me John Green in the vidcon usa keynote mentioned that his kid watches my videos.
I better return the shout out in some form.
Those 6 degrees of separation are now much less, again thanks.

I found myself worried through most of this video that Hank might drop his camera off the fire escape. The shakiness probably didn't help with this.

Hank, that story about the first ever VidCon where only one ticket had been sold after three hours struck a chord right inside me. Because I am a stress-freak. The minute something seems scary or like I'll fail at it, then I just back away or I cry and vow never to do anything like that again. But seeing you, having gone through that panic with VidCon and where you are now, it's really inspiring. So, thank you very much. I owe you a lot :)

This video made me realize exactly how far you have come in the years that I have been subscribed, I have always thought of you as a close friend, now you are so far from reach. It is amazing Hank, I can't begin to describe the ways you changed my life, and I am so glad you have come so far and done so well.

I learned SO MUCH at Vidcon as well. It's so crazy but when I'm surrounded by all these amazing and supportive people - fans and creators - all I wanna do is just like create COOL stuff. After I'm home from Vidcon I never think about views. I think about impact. And that's a great lesson to relearn every year.
This is such a great platform to create. And it's such a good place to make friends. I love that and I love Vidcon. Thanks, Hank. for choosing action even though it's terrifying!

That thing about focusing on what you can/can't do reminded me of something ... I've been at UNSW for a number of years (quit/got kicked out last year), and was so glad when I found an online article that basically asked "Are you following your dreams, or are you chasing prerequisites?" It made me realise that, sadly, I was chasing prerequisites.
I have no idea what kind of a point I was trying to make just now.

Sofia Briody, it's easy to have a personality behind a camera, not having to worry about an audience (at least while you're filming) I certainly have a hard time filming when I'm in public which is why I usually only film at home (but at some point I'd like to do occasional vlogs)

I've found that not focusing on my views is the best way to keep me sane on UA-cam. You and John have made me realise that its OK to just upload for myself and not for viewers, though I am very grateful for my tiny group of subscribers :) p.s your sound-distorted clip had me in stitches!

"Being active instead of reactive is important. Vidcon is like an industry conference more than a popular convention. While it is open to the general public, it is smaller and focused on educating people on the how-to's of UA-cam content creation. There are the successful content creators hosting panels about what they do and how they do it.

I was just talking about the PBS situation with my friends a few days ago after watching a Cookie Monster parody of Call Me Maybe. PBS is never stuck in their ways. They simply adapt. If apps are the way of knowledge, they release the best Periodic Table for free for iPads. If UA-cam is a way to reach enthusiastic, intelligent people, they make a channel about ideas about things people like. They understand the world, so they can cater to its inhabitants.

Dylan though. pahaha. Something I learned this year at VidCon is to take things in stride. You can't do everything you want to do while traveling, so just suck it up and make the best time possible. And that people are super kind for the most part! I kept weirdly crying all Saturday, but people kept talking to me which was unexpected and awesome. Thanks for creating my VidCon home! It was year 3 for me. (oh and can we be open to more security because of the stalkery fangirls? that was scary.)

A little advice about sore feet: If your feet are sore and you know you have to do lots of walking the next day, lie on the floor with your feet on the bed for a couple of hours and the pain will be gone. Also if you put a pillow under your head it's really comfy, I ended up sleeping like this one night on a school trip to New York.

I am in a foreign country by myself where I don't speak much of the language and worrying about taxes (that I shouldn't have to pay due to an agreement with my home country) and I've fallen off my bicycle several times and almost been hit by a car several times and I wasn't invited to go with everyone.... But, I walk down the country roads and find a deep sense of inner peace. With that, anything is possible. :)
I still wish I had been able to go to VidCon...
