It’s amazing/sad how true this is. I’m a baker and every time someone comes to the bakery they always talk about how good it smells and how lucky we are to work in such a place. But after 15 years, I get to work and that smell of fresh baked brioche and caraway rye that I can smell coming up the street before I even get inside ….that smell just reminds me of hard work, 10 hr days on my feet, shoveling 20lb pans in and out of a 400° oven. The bread never ends.
Yeah, it's probably why I won't work in a place I love to visit. I would get sick of what I loved and come to associate the place with stress and sensory overload.
@@atlasfeynman1039 he said every 300th, and they make 75000 a day. If that is all in one 8hr shift then she needs to taste 250 buscuits a day, if its a 24hr factory with 3 testers doing 8 hrs each then its about 83 buscuits a day. Either way, you definitely need to pace yourself with small nibbles.
I'm almost disappointed to find something so simple so funny, but the bit where she slips on her puke and goes "s**t!" killed me 😂 Diane just never disappoints. ❤
American here. When it comes to physical comedy, Diane Morgan is this generation's Lucille Ball. Whether as Mandy or Philomena, she's a BBC National Treasure.
Oh my gawd that was brilliant! I laughed until *I* almost vomited! The biscuits falling out her uniform the whole way down and her giant hair underneath the hairnet. So many good bits!
Im fighting back tears of LOL and joy and memories. Chris Farley in Black Sheep fell down a mountain "Thank you little roots". Andy Samberg fell down the mountain in Hot Rod after going to his Happy Place and Punchdancing. Homer Simpson, no clarification needed. John Belushi Blues Brothers fell down the stairs while stuck in a school desk after being lashed with a yardstick by the Nun. Mandy is now one of the few, the proud, the fallen. Stay gold.
Honestly, great metaphor. I've had several "dream" jobs in my life and all of them but one turned into nightmares, not because of the work itself, but because of horrendous management.
If anyone's interested but too lazy to count, Mandy's job entailed tasting 250 biscuits per day, which is, given an 8-hour work day, slightly more than 1 biscuit per 2 minutes. Also, the board where Mandy has to put her marks is 12x16 = 192 cells, so there's not enough place for her to mark all the daily batches, even if she fills it all, including the cells with the words BISCUIT COUNTER. Maybe she can manage that if she wipes her marks before or after her lunch break. Certainly not if she puts just 7 marks max in each row as she did.
Based on how she's entering her marks, it seems like the appropriate assumption is that the biscuit factory operates continuously in three, eight-hour shifts. At a rate of 75,000 biscuits per day, with every 300th biscuit needing to be tested, each tester-shift would be responsible for testing 83.3 biscuits. It looks like she started entering her marks on row five of the 16x12 grid. If she makes seven marks per row for the remaining twelve rows, she'd have marks for 84 tested biscuits. Or would have done if she hadn't fled the factory and fallen out the window.
I started proper side splitting laughter as she tripped going down the stairs. It just got funnier and funnier as she fell from each flight of stairs. Absolutely genius physical comedy.
I worked for years in a candy shop, when people asked if I didn't grow tired of all that candy I simply answered no, I've just learned to pick out the good ones you never get tired of.
The ending caught me off guard, but it's brilliantly timed as the video i watched right before this was the snippet of WILTY where Diane Morgan dumped a boyfriend bc of how he fell down the stairs 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤

My sister lived around the corner from the Mars bar factory. I went to stay with her while mum was in hospital. I cannot ever eat a Mars bar again.....
What makes me enjoy this is I got my dream job at Disney World, then one day my attraction was closed and the next 7 years was a nightmare. I also fell many times but only twice down stairs.
It looks like Mandy was initially trying to eat an entire biscuit each time to impress the boss. If each biscuit is 200 calories, 75,000 divided by every 300th biscuit is 250 biscuits, or 50,000 calories per day. If she was able to keep up the pace, she would be the size of an elephant within a week. :/
Her stomach would stop digesting far before that. Due to exploding you know. Those are pretty big biscuits. 250 can only be compressed so much. Specially since you’d need water.
