i've checked your list and i decided to make an average score of every game there, just for fun i'll put them in order of worst to best MM2 - 2,21 MM5 - 2,99 MM7 - 3,68 MM8 - 3,88 MM3 - 5,23 MM1 - 5,23 MM6 - 5,34 MM10 - 5,61 MM9 - 7,00 MM4 - 7,45 shame to see mm7 so low, but i was impressed how mm4 in general had better weapons than mm9 in your list, i don't mind much bc i really love 4 so i'm fine with this btw, you did mm2 justice
It's 78. We've got ten games with eight weapons each, with the singular exception of Megaman 1, which has six weapons. (8*9)+6 = 72 + 6 = 78. Then again, there are games in the classic series that were left out of this list, so it should really be 101 (Two extras from Powered Up, Eight more weapons in Megaman and Bass, four weapons from Megaman Killers, and nine weapons from Stardroids) and even then only if we exclude the really obscure games and the arcade games. which would bump the count up to 129. (Three weapons from DOS Megaman 1, Six from DOS Megaman 3 (there was no DOS 2), Centaur Arrow from the arcade, and ten weapons from the Wonderswan game Rockman & Forte 2: What Are You Talking About My Name Isn't Quint. Oh, and eight more from Street Fighter x Megaman, since that's officially recognized.)
Fun fact: Spark Shock in the Game Boy games actually worked like Ice Slasher in that you could pause and change weapons while the enemies were stunned. The NES version of Mega Man 3 was rushed, and there's a whole lot of unrefined sections like Spark Shock and some questionable level design in the Wily stages.
Real talk: rushed development _ruins_ video games. Yes, Mega Man 3 is still playable, but even as a child, I recognized a lot of flaws. And lets not forget about all. Those. Glitches!
@@spongefan155 one of my favorites is: You can get Rush Jet by beating Shadow Man (even though he gives you Rush Marine, which is forever useless). Select rush jet then press down, and u will see the cursor float over an empty space. Grab some energy caps, and now you have Rush Jet
So I got bored and decided to crunch the numbers to see which game has overall the best to worst weapons. I took the number on each weapon, added all numbers for each weapons together, then divided said number by eight (six for Mega Man 1) to get the average rank for the weapons of each game. These are the results, from lowest to highest: 10: Mega Man 2 (59.125) 9: Mega Man 5 (54) 8: Mega Man 8 (49.25) 7: Mega Man 7 (48.5) 6: Mega Man 3 (38.625) 5: Mega Man 6 (36.125) 4: Mega Man 1 (34.667) 3: Mega Man 10 (33.875) 2: Mega Man 9 (22.125) 1: Mega Man 4 (17.5) Mega Man 2 takes the last spot, which is not that odd given that six of its weapons are in the bottom 20. Even with its other two weapons being much higher, the game's weapons are still lacking compared to that of Mega Man 5 and 8. Mega Man 7's weapons are clumped together as well, but a few of them rise quite high. Those of 6 and 10 are spread out as well, and Mega Man 1's weapons are even more so but yet it's not as much of an outlier as I thought it was going to be. Mega Man 9 is in the top 10 thrice and in the top third five times, but the lowest weapons mean that it drops quite a bit. But the real king here is Mega Man 4, with only one weapon not in the top third. So good on ya, Mega Man 4.
Beriorn finally found it. This is really funny how Retro said the devs had issues balancing MM1 but apparently it’s one of their better balancing acts until 4, 9 and 10. Makes me wonder what the fuck happened with 2 and onwards. It’s also quaint that people talk about 4 and 5 being forgettable MegaMan games but 4 has better balance and bosses too. I do wonder. If metal Blades wasn’t so broken, would MegaMan Be as beloved as it is today!
I was gonna do this actually, you saved me some time. it's nice to see 9 and 10 up there. I wonder where 11 would rank on this thing. I have no idea how well it does weapons. 4 is possibly my favorite classic series already anyway. seems like a very nice refinement of most of the formula's elements. I'm kind of surprised 7 is so far down considering how solid the rest of the game is. guess the weapons weren't quite good enough.
Concrete Shot as #1, Not suprised as EVERY Speedrun of MM9 Starts with Concrete Man just BECAUSE of Concrete shot's Utility as a sub boss killer and usage in platforming.
I always start with either Galaxy or Splash. I DID try Tornado as a 1st boss only ONE time, and I did manage to beat him, its just that the stage's gimmicks with the moving platforms made me wish i had Rush Jet.
@@DJTileTurnip Normally people start with Splash, Concrete or Tornado. Some people start with Splash because she takes 2 damage from buster, being an easy first target, and her weapon is the weakness from Concrete Man, wich gives an useful weapon. Some starts with Concrete because his stage is easy buster-only and the good weapon. Some starts with Tornado because his stage can be speedrunned with rain and his weapon is useful.
Poochyena And it just got better and better and had me laughing at his comedy spots! Definitely the best, coolest, and most knowledgeable weapons list ever made with a lot of practical, scientific and respectful research into put into it's foundation and entirety!! 💯🤘😎🍻👍👍
Spark Shock is literally objectively better than many of the later weapons. He literally fails using it at the end, on one of the worst, most damaging enemies in MM3, which is supremely useful if you do it correctly, and there are nearly a dozen good uses of it. through the game. He also fails at Bubble Lead as well. It only has a few uses, but it is very useful then as well.
I hope that you get recognized on UA-cam. This is BY FAR my most favorite video on this website! This is so well scripted and edited and deserves much more praise than what it’s getting! Everything about this video is fantastic! From the serious debates over what is good or bad about a weapon to the humorous pokes at certain other weapons, this video kept my interest all the way through. I also really loved how you gave a reasonable score for each weapons and their PUBF scores. The blend of your opinion and the reasonable scores made for a very pleasurable viewing experience. You deserve way more subscribers and views for your hard work! Thank you so much for entertaining me! I’ll be seeing more of you! *LIKED, FAVORITED, SUBSCRIBED, AND BELLED.*
I actually kinda love the lag on Gemini Laser. Throwing the whole game into slow mo for a couple of seconds enabled some sick dodging against some of the harder bosses.
Yeah it’s refreshing to actually hear someone talk about these weapons, and how they effect their game from a more objective standpoint........... unlike all the people that scream about how amazing the metal blades are (disregarding how unbalanced they make mm2) and then proceed to shout some clichéd speech about how “Megaman 2 is dah best in da sewies” that you can probably recite word for word because 30 other youtubers said the same thing that very day.
Still the BEST top list on anything Mega Man related in the history of UA-cam!! Thank you so much for your hard work and input into this weapons list no one ever realized they needed before. One has to wonder how the awesome MM11 weapons compare to these 78.
It occurs to me that a lot of the Mega Man 4 weapon roster is a fixed version of the Mega Man 2 roster. Pharaoh Shot: Takes the multidirectional aiming from Metal Blade and combines it with the charge feature from Atomic Fire, which kind of results in fixing the balance problems of both weapons. It's not nearly as spammable as the Metal Blade, but its energy consumption is still reasonable, and because its shots are multi-directional, that means you have a reason to bother with uncharged shots. Skull Barrier: Second attempt at a shield weapon, and fixes Leaf Shield's lack of movement (somewhat dubiously, though). Ring Boomerang: Like the Quick Boomerang, but with the most overpowered part of that weapon, the turbo-fire murderfrenzy, pulled out in favor of additional range. Drill Bomb: Like Crash Bomber, only it deals the damage you'd expect Crash Bomber to deal. Flash Stopper: Literally Time Stopper but with both of Time Stopper's big problems fixed. Dive Missile and Rain Flush are pretty oblique in terms of how they'd relate to Bubble Lead and Air Shooter, but it's still kinda there: Bubble Lead and Air Shooter are designed to hit enemies outside of your standard firing range, and Dive Missile and Rain Flush do that as well.
The Wily Wars version of the Top Spin is actually one of the best weapons in the game. Wily Wars also buffed Atomic Heat’s damage and nerfed the metal blade.
Did you know the black hole bomb can be steered up and down very effectively? Didn't see you mention it, and I didn't know this at first either; but do try it! It makes it much more enjoyable!
Watching this really did make me realise just how horrible most of MM2’s weapons are. Everything that’s not called the Metal Blade or Quick Boomerang is situational, borderline useless, an active hindrance or awkward to use. Amazing.
I still think Nico sleeps on how much Leaf Shield shreds small enemies, but he’s right. The weapon roster in 2 is awful and probably the worst in the classic series.
All probably very high on the list. MMU's weapon list is my favorite out of any MM game I have played, mainly because every weapon is well thought out and viable as a primary weapon (with the exception of glue shot, which I never find myself using). Somehow, the game didn't end up 'lopsided' in terms of weapons either; it's very well balanced, with areas that can all benefit from the use of a special weapon.
I think Plug Ball is really fun to use because it makes you think and can hit things from very interesting places. I'd encourage you to do a Plug Ball only run, it's surprisingly versatile.
Fun fact: if you use the thunder bolt on turbo man or spring man, Turbo man will go Turbo mode and becomes invincible for a brief moment of time, and spring man will become magnet man's magnifying attack
I wonder how Mega Man & Bass would shake up this list or, more interestingly, The Wily Wars! That game has an endgame mode in which you're allowed to pick from the weapon lists of ALL of the first three games, which greatly expands the whole balance concept because instead of, say, the Metal Blades being stacked up just against Mega Man 2, it's being stacked up against all of the first three games.
Casual Mega Man 2 players: A lot of people work really, really hard to beat this game, but it's not meant for everyone Me: *That's why you use Metal Blades and I don't*
IMO the thunder beam should have a terrible balance score. the twirl barely ever gets in the way and doesn't save the fact it destroys enemies and fires in three directions.
The fact alone that Top Spin was not the last place shows that someone really invested a lot of thought and work into this. I totally like this and after seeing the first entry decided to give you my full watch time (I think) :P
This video won me over as soon as Spark Shot was shown as rock bottom. I've been criticizing the weapon for bloody years and nobody really bats an eye at it. For some reason its better than the Top Spin and the Charge Kick to a lot of people, which I find absurd.
It is indeed better than many weapons higher up on this list. It's the worst weapon in MM3, but it is quite useful on 2 or 3 regular enemy types when used correctly. The big Hopper enemies for example. You can use Hard Knuckle, but SS takes half the energy and saves your Knuckle for breaking walls.
@@systemafunk You can indeed spark them As well as the acrobat enemies The problem is: why tho? Almost any of them are positioned in ways you can easily kill them from some ladder or wall or you can easily slide below them and just keep going So why open the menu and switch to it? In fact with the acrobats i find top spin more useful as i can spin in both his pool and himself and get two items at once. Theres no reasons to use it and thats sad since ice slasher and chill spikes are two of my favorite weapons in megaman
A few worthwhile notes: Yamato Spear ignores shielded enemies, a boon it's quite good for depending on your boss order in 6. Additionally, Plant Barrier does too for....some reason. I really like all of 6's weapons, they feel incredibly well thought out except for like, Blizzard Man and Wind Man's.
I am guessing that Spark Shock was supposed to let you switch weapons, but that it was rushed, just like a lot of other things in MM3. They actually did allow you to switch weapons in the Game Boy version, so that seems to indicate that that was what Capcom wanted to do in the first place.
Ice Wave. Actually, pretty useful on some stages. Tengu Man's: Annihilate an entire warship section. Tengu Man himself actually lands after two attacks: Stomp and Tornado Hold. IW stops on tracks both TH and boss. Any stage: Worms, Skaters and Mettaur packs, Cannon packs. Last ones get up simultaneously or in order they loaded on screen. Grenade Man: kills Spiky Scouts and some Bats without triggering explosives. Frost M.: Pengi. Aqua M.: hits Steamed Clams on high ledges and ones behind urchins. Astro M.: Goo Puddles, Bots on walls before they even spot you. Search M.: one-hits Double Grasshoppers, opens the gates remotely for easy T. Claw swing. In general, it pierces enemies and deal damage on each sprite drawn, i.e. deals decent damage to ones with wide horizontal hitbox. And a good thing of all, you can still shoot Buster while Special Weapon is equipped in MM8. Flame Sword. The only way to harm pesky Clown Man's Trains. And sinse trains respawn constantly, easy 1-button 1up/Energy farm.
There will always be disagreements on a list like this, but this one is exceptionally well thought out. I really like the categories, rather than ranking them on raw effectiveness. A couple notes for two of your lower rated MM5 weapons. Power Stone is under-powered but it serves its purpose-- to clear out the swarms of 1-hp flying enemies that MM5 loves to fill stages with. Not a great weapon, but certainly above the unusable garbage weapons you ranked it with. Napalm Bomb being ranked with the bad weapons is surprising. It's a great spamable weapon. It does good damage, shredding everything. Great for Power Masslers, tigers, and the like. It may be the only weapon that kills stronger enemies faster than the buster. Not complaints with the list. Just my own 2 cents.
The same happened with a few other weapons. Crash Bomb(er) comes to mind. It was probably to better showcase the weapon, or it was footage from a weapon-only run.
The Retro Job Here is how I would fix top spin and power stone and charge kick. For the top spin you should get on top of the enemy and will keep bouncing on it until it dies. For the power stone make it have piercing and stones.Charge kick simple make it so it does more damage has x2 the range of the normal slide and you can use it on air for wave man so you can avoid the waves and not be useless against air enemy’s.
It's extremely normal: Nico used 4 criteria: Performance, and, for the Metal Blades case, it has good performance. Usefulness, where I can't deny that Metal Blades nailed it. Balance, and that's where the Metal Blades failed: The Metal Blades aren't very balanced, you'll prefer using it over every other weapons. But the weapons themselves weren't helped enough, beside Quick Boomerang and Leaf Shield, as a MM2 player, you would know that, right? Although, I can't blame you for liking this game (and the weapons available), honestly, I may even thank you for liking a game that wouldn't be liked by everyone. Just don't believe all games are bad because a game was good.
Metal Blade is objectively one of the absolute most powerful weapons in the entire series; the reason why it isn't in the top 3 in this video is because it is way too broken in MM2, so it got terrible Balance points (0 points, in fact), and this dramatically affected its average score, otherwise it would be in the top 3 on practically every Mega Man list in the world.
@@Kaiju_King944 Basically, aside from the Leaf Shield and the Quick Boomerang, every weapons were somewhat useless: Bubble Lead would be barely useful due to how weak it is, Atomic Fire takes way too long to be charged up and consumes too much ammo, Crash Bomb doesn't do many damages except to walls and boobeams, Air Shooter's trajectory isn't very useful due to the layout of the stage, and Flash Stopper literally consumes the whole ammo points in one go without letting you do much else. So, yeah, the Metal Blades were incredibly busted in comparison to the rest.
My friends and I just keep playing this vid for any newcomers and enthusiasts alike, they finally see where their favorites rank, it's both awesome and hilarious!! They can finally see why their favorite Mega Man game and weapons makes their favorite one what it is!!!! F N Amazing!!! Sincerly thanks Nico!
The only way I can see the Spark Shock being improved (other than having it deal actual damage) is giving it a sort of chain effect. Like, it’d bounce from one enemy to another if they’re close enough, and stun them as well. It’d definitely be handy on those bee swarms in Hard Man’s stage. Anyone else agree?
While there are some placements I definitely disagree with, i.e. giving a bad rap to my precious baby Thunder Bolt, I have to commend you for going through every fucking game and making this list in the first place. At number 2 I realized to myself "Wait....Concrete Man's weapon is the only one he hasn't talked about. Why the hell would that be number 1?!" And then you explained yourself and I'm honestly interested in going back and experimenting more with that weapon. It's one of my least used in Mega Man 9, the short range probably being what turned me off at first.
Did we noticed is that in Mega Man 7, one of weapon was Thunder Bolt on Mega Man’s color scheme is reminds me of infamous North American version of first Mega Man game cover art. Same goes to Laser Trident weapon on Mega Man 9.
yeah you'll never learn how to use the thing. Nico put it damn well, the power stone is like pissing out 2 pee streams and hitting the toilet with neither of them.
It's crazy how many shields end up placing well in this list. I guess maybe people give them too much crap (granted, many still appropriately ranked low)
This list is mainly good, especially Spark shock at 78, but my problem is the way you show-cased Time stopper makes it look like it has no uses when it can be quite useful. It just requires some thought on when to use it in-stage, the way you showed it made you look inexperienced though. *I just really like using it, it's so fun*
I totally agree, it is the most underrated weapon in the entire series, easily. If I did a list like this, time stopper would get a pretty high usefulness score and a huge fun factor score
Water Shield is great. It trades the crazy damage potential of Ghost Barrier's formation for a tighter, more secure shield, while keeping the same release and wear-down gimmicks.
@beavertailschef4205 Nope, talking about a shield weapon from MegaMari, which has a lot of similarity to the water shield. And given how OP the weapons get in MegaMari, Pump Man's shield being on the same level is a very good thing.
I'm saying one thing Metal Blade in 1st place, it's overpowered, you can shoot in 8 directions, has a good damn damage, and i doesn't drain too much, also in second place i'll put Thunder Beam, third place Shadow Blade, and in the other places, all of them, but in last place, Spark Shock LoL
Amazing video dude, love it, your accent is very pleasant to listen too and you give a surprsingly detailed analysis on everything you said. Also you are super funny, you won a suscription lad.
Here's something we can't all agree on but is something somebody (me, precisely) asked for. How bout doing a "BEST Mega Man Robot Master Battles" (all 78 CLASSIC ROBOT MASTERS) list on this epic MM enthusiast channel of yours? Or maybe a "BEST Mega Man Robot Master Stages" list?? I'm sure that would take you a really long time to compile together, but I have lots of patience. :)
I'd put gravity hold up higher; that one is the only whole-screen weapon I ever use outside of boss fights. Mostly it's because of a few certain a-holes that hit you into pits.
One thing to note, in Megaman 3 on the gameboy, you can actually pause with Spark Shot on screen. It doesn't pierce and it has less energy, but atleast it can actually do something.
I decided to review the list. I may not have a lot of credibility considering that I've only been a fan of the series for a year. But I have played all 11 classic games and enjoyed each of them, so I thought, why not. (Also do not read if you haven't watched yet.) Part 1 78. Spark Shock: I agree with this. Although you can use it to freeze bouncers in the air. 77. Bubble Lead: Yeah, this one should've damaged more enemies. I do think it's better than a few others on the list though. 76. Power Stone: ....... Next. 75. Time Stopper: I agree 95%. It was way to situational to be considered good, but I would've put it a bit higher. 74. Scorch Wheel: Awwwww I like the scorch wheel. :( I will admit that it is tricky to use though. 73. Thunder Wool: I think your footage summed it up nicely. Although I think the Scorch Wheel is easier to use personally. 72. Super Arm: This is my personal least favorite weapon, but I agree with its spot. I love your idea of pulling blocks out of the ground by the way. 71. Atomic Fire: I personally would've put it lower, but that's just me. I think it's more useless and situational than the Bubble Lead and more wasteful than the Time Stopper. 70. Crash Bomber: They should've made this stronger and just made a door-opening item 4 honestly. My second least favorite in MM2. 69. Hyper Bomb: I'm impressed that they made it this high. While I do like them, they definitely were better in Powered Up. 68. Wild Coil: I agree with its placement. (Although I don't think it was THAT bad to use against Wily.) 67. Freeze Cracker: I agree with this one. It was disappointing. It'd have been great if it did just a bit more damage. 66. Water Wave: It deserves its placement. 65. Crystal Eye: I agree with how it could improve. 64. Thunder Bolt: WHAT?! This one was my second favorite from 7. I'm not even sure why it got the scores it did given your explanation. I felt that it did considerable damage and I was able to layer it on enemies quite a few times. I'd be interested if you gave more details about it. 63. Napalm Bomb: I'd have placed it higher personally. It's fun to drop it from above on enemies, and the level design gave opportunities for that several times, such as the power massler at the end of crystal man's stage. 62. Leaf Shield: I like this one, but I also think it was wasted potential. Deserves its place in my opinion. 61. Blizzard Attack: I'll be honest, I like using this one as it does good damage if you line up shots right, but I will admit that it's shot directions are awkward. 60. Air Shooter: I personally love the air shooter. It's fun for taking out pippis, sniper joes, and several others. I understand your placement of it though. 59. Water Balloon: Personally 8 has my favorite set of weapons since they were fun to use, but I can't defend the balance issues. Water Balloon is middle road for me honestly, but I thought it was better than Needle Cannon. 58. Wind Storm: I would've put it lower honestly. It was a step back from the search snakes and inconvenient to use given the lack of drops and power. 57. Plug Ball: As much as I used other weapons in 9, I can't quite agree with the level design statement. I did find plug balls useful quite a lot. Their "stickiness" allowed for some creative attack strategies. Such as hitting the ceiling spiders in Jewel Man's stage and the wall cannon enemies in Splash Woman's. They were also useful whenever mets appeared on high ground too. I felt that you had a good argument going for them not being suited for the level design, but it would've been stronger if you showed footage of other stages than just Magma Man's stage. 56. Charge Kick: Deserves its place. Actually surprised that it made it this far. 55. Tornado Hold: I found it useful in Frost Man's stage against the Flying Whales that drop ice and the elevator segment with the bats. (You can lure them into the tornado.) It was also handy in Search Man's with the birds flying everywhere as you can use it to shield yourself and move further. It was also a good utility in Astro Man's stage, but we're not looking at that. Overall, I would put it higher. 54. Commando Bomb: Yeah, this one was a bit awkward, but it made for a few strategic snipes every so often. I would've put it a bit lower though personally. 53. Thunder Claw: This is my personal favorite weapon in the series, but you made a solid case for it. I think it could've been a little higher, but that's simply my opinion about its fun factor. If you didn't like it too much, than I accept its placement. I'm glad that you thought it was like the Ring Boomerang too by the way. 52. Ice Wave: Another weapon that I really like, but the balancing does bring it down like all of 8's weapons. I do think 8's weapons appeal to all players preferences personally, as some people such as myself like the ground weapons. So if it was me, all of 8's weapons would've been higher in fun, but if you only enjoyed the flash bombs out of them than I can't really do anything really. 51. Flame Sword: You made a good case for it. I personally would've put it higher, but nobody cares about that. 50. Top Spin: I'm glad you appreciate Top Spin! It just takes some getting used to. I do think it is kind of a guessing game as to what it works on though, so I'd put it just a *tad* bit lower. 49. Danger Wrap: I love this one too, but yeah, I agree with your points. 48. Dust Crusher: This one is pretty similar to Drill Bomb in my opinion. And I personally found myself using it more. 47. Search Snake: I personally use these a lot (especially in Shadow Man's stage), but if ground weapons aren't your thing I can't really argue. They are kind of slow. 46. Homing Sniper: Wow, not many people seem to like the homing sniper it seems. It's my 2nd favorite in 8. It was just really fun to spam and watch kill things for me. 45. Astro Crush: Agree with this one's placement. 44. Yamato Spear: I honestly didn't see the appeal of this one. I really only used it when I was too impatient to deal with shield enemies. Otherwise the buster is better. (And I agree that the change in height was monotonous.) 43. Chill Spike: I'm surprised this one made it this far. I really like the similarities to the Ice Slasher and how you can switch weapons after freezing. Fair placement I suppose. 42. Gravity Hold: The only part that I disagree with was the almost likable part. Otherwise perfectly said. 41. Centaur Flash: Personally I like Gravity Hold better, but that's just my preference. It was just pretty boring to me. 40. Laser Trident: I was kind of surprised it wasn't higher. Oh well.
Part 2 39: Plant Barrier: Forgive me, but this is really the only one I really disagree with. The weapon only is useful in select stretches of enemies that go down in one hit from it, and if they don't drop energy, its a pain to refill. I'd place about half of weapons 78-40 above it. 38. Gyro Attack: I agree with this. This is truly the king of MM5. 37. Noise Crush: As much as I do love this weapon, it is basically a charge shot substitute. I haven't really done much testing on damage output though, so I'm not in much of a position to criticize. I'd probably put it around this area too I guess. 36. Gemini Laser: As much as I do like using Gemini Laser, I enjoy using many other weapons more. But, its your opinion on fun, so I really have no right to argue. All I can really say is that it'd rank lower in fun for me. 35. Needle Cannon: I'm a little harsher toward Needle Cannon as its just a modified buster and I'd rather stick to that than switch to Needle Cannon, but I think you accurately described it. I'd just personally rank it harsher and consequently put it a LOT lower. 34. Hard Knuckle: You described this perfectly. For me, it has the same treatment as the Needle Cannon. 33. Flash Bomb: Definitely an amazing weapon. I still use the other weapons from 8 a lot though. 32. Magma Bazooka: My personal least favorite from 9. I found it to be inconvenient honestly. I'd have put it lower. 31. Metal Blade: I'll be honest. I've gone through this game several times, and I've never enjoyed the Metal Blades. I'll use them once or twice at a time then have to stop because it's too powerful. It's like eating a rich chocolate cake all at once. 30. Silver Tomahawk: I agree with the position of this one, but I probably enjoy the air shooter a bit more. This one did have better level opportunities though. 29. Rolling Cutter: I do really like this weapon. I'd place it a bit lower than others, but I can get behind this placement. 28. Solar Blaze: Agree with this placement. 27: Quick Boomerang: Fun to use definitely. I thought you made a good case for it. 26. Star Crash: Agree with what you said and placement. 25. Skull Barrier: I agree with this very strongly. The up-and-down enemies were really well incorporated with this. 24. Rebound Striker: An interesting weapon. I'd put it a bit lower, but not really by much. 23. Triple Blade: Very good one. A bit unbalanced, but I feel the position justifies it. 22. Tornado Blower: I'd put it a little lower if only for the jump being borderline utility by your criteria and I thought it had some weird stats too. 21. Fire Storm: Very good placement. 20. Water Shield: This is a fun weapon for me and you placed it appropriately. 19. Junk Shield: This is my favorite shield weapon. I agree with your placement. 18. Black Hole Bomb: I'd place it higher if only because of my love for it. 17. Magnet Missile: I wasn't really a big fan, but it has good placement for how useful it is. 16. Flash Stopper: I feel that this was a bit broken in all honesty, but very good nonetheless. 15. Ring Boomerang: Very well placed. 14. Dive Missile: A fun weapon, but it did very often get stuck circling enemies for me. I do think it deserves its high placement however. 13. Ice Slasher: I agree with your comments. I'd go a bit lower, but just by a spot or two. 12. Shadow Blade: Solid placement. 11. Rain Flush: I agree with its position. 10. Slash Claw: I love this weapon and agree fully. 9. Knight Crusher: I personally don't use this weapon that often, but your reasoning was persuasive enough for me to agree. 8. Pharaoh Shot: Fully agree. This weapon is great. 7. Flame Blast: I'm honestly not a fan of Flame Blast if only because you need to be precise with it and the flame pillar disappears a bit too quickly for me. I'd rather use the buster. 6. Wheel Cutter: Very fun ground weapon. I'm actually surprised you placed it this high considering your opinion on the others. I feel like the wall climb is a bit utility, but I'd still rank this very similarly for your same reasons. 5. Jewel Satellite: UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT: (takes breath) I honestly think that the Jewel Satellite is one of the most broken weapons in the series. There I said it. It eliminates a great chunk of challenge from a majority of the stages and I don't feel that its ammo compensates for it since you can kill virtually an unlimited number of enemies with one usage for energy. With that being said, I still enjoy it A LOT. Just in a guilty sort of way. 4. Thunder Beam: This one easily overshadowed all of the other weapons in Megaman 1 other than a few sections. It's more unbalanced than Metal Blades honestly. Even if you miss with it, you'll probably hit it the next time since it has huge ammo. 3. Drill Bomb: If the explosion stayed around longer, I'd like it more, but I can get behind its position. It's just a bit higher than what I'd rank it. 2. Hornet Chaser: Yeah, I agree 100% with this gem's placement. 1. Concrete Shot: I was actually really surprised how much I liked this weapon on my first playthrough. It really is a well crafted weapon. I'm not surprised in the slightest that it's #1. Well that's done. And no, I didn't write this all at once. I took breaks. It may have been a waste of time, but I honestly didn't have anything going on the past few days. Besides I love the series, and the way you put so much effort into this list was amazing! Even if I disagreed with a few things, I can still understand why you put things where you did, (maybe not Thunder Bolt, but that's just one weapon) because you explained things so well with words and footage. You are entitled to your opinion, and I'm completely okay with that. Anyways, thanks so much for making the video!
I actually read all of these. Thanks! Check our Snupster Races for 1 weapon challenges (where most of my experience comes from) ua-cam.com/users/snupsters
@@genericyoutubecommentchann7418 i really hadnt understood thunder bolt's position either Its strong asf Boring to use but certainly very effective as it kills most enemies in 1 hit or 2
The only time the spark shot is useful (besides on magnetman who is piss easy) is on hard man’s stage. You can stun the robot apes while they are hanging on the ceiling or after they jump behind you so they can’t chase you. As for the Gemini Laser, it deals a lot of damage to most mini bosses and larger enemies.
Gemini Laser one shots the bola guys in snake man's stage, which is also great because most of them are around corners from you, a perfect use for the weapon. It also one shots the bugs that crawl on ladders, as does shadow blade, making either a great choice to hit them. MM3's weapons are constantly underrated. A lot more thought went into their uses on different enemies than people realize.

Wow, this is an excellent video. Informative, well-researched, and even funny. I was scouting weapon features for an indy game that I'm creating, and this is precisely the kind of video I was looking for. Amazing! Great job.
This is the best weapons list ive watched. every other motherfucker ranked the weapons based on situational situations such as the thunder claw. Great job nico
I personally love the Thunder Bolt from MM7. It's essentially an instant charge shot that hits for even more damage with it's splitting property. I don't think your reason that it "makes Freeze Cracker useless" an optimal deciding factor pertaining to the weapon's ranking. It's damage output should be taken more into consideration.
I can completely agree with #10. I loved the megaman zero games, so it was really fun fighting springman with it. Also, the metal blade overpowered-ness is why I always went for metalman last.
I only use Danger Wrap in a few cases throughout 7: 1. To destroy Cloud Man if I don't feel like using the buster 2. To get rid of spines if they cross my path 3. To get rid of the first two cones in Turbo Man's stage 4. To encase the little turtles in Wily Stage 2 and deal massive damage to the boss
That was by far the most entertaining Classic Megaman video i've ever seen! Although i completely disagree on some aspects, can't deny you've done a pretty damn good job at it! Great shit man!! :D
Laser Trident's utility is very underrated here. It's the Metal Blade of MM9 in that you can easily just kill Splash Woman first and never touch your Buster again that playthrough. Fast, strong, ammo efficient, ignores shields, it's the total package.
@@WildAscension I'd actually argue it's even better for Protoman since his rapid fire buster only shoots 2 pellets at a time instead of Megaman's 3, so Laser Trident gives him a better rapid fire option.
Roge9 Videos untill doom 2 where the super shotty basicly breaks everything and makes shit really unfun because you basicly only swap that out with the rocket launcher and plasma rifle in rare cases.
SSG has way more spread than regular sg, so I still used the sg for mid ranged stuff, occasionally sniping things with it. It also has a long reloading animation so there's still plenty of reason to use other weapons to clear out certain mobs.
Roge9 Videos but those elements don't matter when it does nearly 3 times the damage of the normal shotgun for 2 times the ammo there is almost never a situation where the chaingun or normal shotgun are needed after you get the super shotgun unless you start to run low on shells which is pretty hard in DooM2. It really isn't well balanced at all it's too good at almost everything, it crowd controls, it bursts, it econs, and it can even be used as a reliable boss killer. It's nuts to the third power and is one of many issues I have with doom2.
I just found the regular sg/chaingun more useful vs. crowds of lower hp enemies that you're going to kill quickly anyway. With the ssg the reload time deters me from using it over those weapons in that situation. Also in doom 2's large maps, shooting far away enemies with those weapons is nice.
@The Retro Job,I agree with this list, and the fact that you took into account all the factors of a weapon made it great, most people I’ve seen have just did it based on power
I find it odd that you like Gemini Laser and Rebound Striker for fun bounce shenanigans and yet hate Crystal Eye for... bounce shenanigans. As someone who also likes bounce weapons, Crystal Eye is my personal fave because you get triple the bounce. As satisfying as it is to nail one enemy with a well placed Gemini Laser, its so much more satisfying to nail 3 with a well-placed Crystal Eye. I do agree that MM5 could be better designed with it in mind, but in the spaces where it works (like Stone Man's stage) its mad fun. And while its not useful everywhere, there's enough spots it works well to make it pretty decent in my book. Scorch Wheel's hold mechanic is the key to using the weapon. Hitting anything accurately just tapping the trigger, yeah. Not gonna work out. However, once you get the wheel circling you and hold it, you can release the button and nail stuff far more accurately. There's no delay on firing the wheel off when you're holding it, you can even launch it while sliding. Definitely a super steep learning curve, but once you learn how to use it, its not half bad. Does pretty good damage, can mow down multiple enemies (which most other MM7 weapons can't), and you can use it as a shield while you're holding it. Granted, its in a game with a much better real shield so that aspect isn't super useful, but its another facet of the weapon. It'd probably still be in the bottom half for most people, but I feel being down with the likes of Spark Shock and Power Stone is too far. Its far from actually useless if you know how to work it.
Hmm i never liked Crystal eye nearly as much as gemini's but i do consider gemini the best bouncing weapon tho People seriously overlooks the damage of that thing. It kills about everything fast asf
Spark Shock is only useful when fighting Magnet Man, since he is magnetic the spark shock messes him and kills him. Bubble leads kills Heat man quickly and it can be used on the wall robots on Wiley stage 2 and as a way to know if there are holes in the floor but like spark shock it has a very, very limited purpose.
MEGA MAN 2 has some pretty difficult bosses. Air Man, Quick Man and Boo Beam Trap are not easy at all. To have METAL BLADE as an early weapon is actually helping you balance the game considerably in your favor.
Ok, Imma put an end to the most relevant comments in this video. "Where is MM&B? Powered Up? GB? 11?" Have you checked the dates of when he published his list AND his evaluations of the given games? He didn't have any experience on them before he made the list. The list is about weapons from 1-10, which means... 1-10. Also, I think for the GB games, there will be separate lists in the future, so please, be patient. "Why the hell is Metal Blade at #41? You have no idea what makes a good weapon." I think YOU have no idea what makes a good weapon. Metal Blade is broken. Ya hear me? BROKEN. You can fire it forwards, upwards, downwards, diagonally, left right; it barely runs out of weapons energy, and everyone uses it. LITERALLY EVERYONE. For enemies above, you use the Metal Blades. For enemies below, you use the Metal Blades. For enemies in front of you, you use the Metal Blades. Seriously, wherever there is a use for any weapon in a certain situation, it is worthless because of said Metal Blade. And when you do use a weapon for the suitable situation, you get punished. Do some research, ya freaking douche bags. "When is the list going to be updated?" We don't know, even I don't. All I know is that it may never get updated since Nico has a lot of work on his hands nowadays, so he barely gets any time. The only thing he can do is put his evaluations on hold and get on with the list-making.
the funniest thing about thunder wool to me is that it kicks ASS in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, it’s a fairly large AoE multi-hit ground trap that can one-shot if you land all its hits
I'm new to this channel but man! What a great and entertaining video! I really enjoyed watching this. It shows that you actually put a lot of work into this video. just curious though, will you make a video for the Mega Man x weapon list? i would definitely watch that!
I actually found out you can aim the freeze cracker. Also I adore the slash claw for one reason. It's literally a bitch slap. You get to walk up to a robot master, tell it that it's a fucking useless hunk of junk, And slap it in its damn face.
Here's an actual use for Top Spin if anyone's wondering. Hammer Joes' hammers can actually be destroyed by Top Spin, therefore making the enemy a perfect grinding spot for those who've mastered it. Its not documented in a ton of places, not even on the MMKB Wiki. I know, the weapons still shit, but its fascinating that the Top Spin has a grinding spot.
Wow. I knew Power Stone was a fantastic weapon, but I never would've expected it to get 3rd place of all time! I'm not really sure I agree with Spark Shock and Bubble Lead being more useful than PS though. Otherwise, fantastic list!
Way too nice to plant and especially skull barrier and i kinda disagree on how you view some of the weapons in megaman 8 but hey. Opinions. And this list was pretty good!

i'll put them in order of worst to best
MM2 - 2,21
MM5 - 2,99
MM7 - 3,68
MM8 - 3,88
MM3 - 5,23
MM1 - 5,23
MM6 - 5,34
MM10 - 5,61
MM9 - 7,00
MM4 - 7,45
shame to see mm7 so low, but i was impressed how mm4 in general had better weapons than mm9 in your list, i don't mind much bc i really love 4 so i'm fine with this
btw, you did mm2 justice
Kenji Hess Campos Nakazoni Cool!
The Retro Job nice i agree with most of the list!
Its 79
Those.

So I got bored and decided to crunch the numbers to see which game has overall the best to worst weapons. I took the number on each weapon, added all numbers for each weapons together, then divided said number by eight (six for Mega Man 1) to get the average rank for the weapons of each game. These are the results, from lowest to highest:
10: Mega Man 2 (59.125)
9: Mega Man 5 (54)
8: Mega Man 8 (49.25)
7: Mega Man 7 (48.5)
6: Mega Man 3 (38.625)
5: Mega Man 6 (36.125)
4: Mega Man 1 (34.667)
3: Mega Man 10 (33.875)
2: Mega Man 9 (22.125)
1: Mega Man 4 (17.5)
Mega Man 2 takes the last spot, which is not that odd given that six of its weapons are in the bottom 20.
@@mohdadeeb1829 I agree
Five times in the top third? Ok.
Fascinating analysis!
Concrete Shot as #1, Not suprised as EVERY Speedrun of MM9 Starts with Concrete Man just BECAUSE of Concrete shot's Utility as a sub boss killer and usage in platforming.
Also the stage is literally a perfect stage to run with just the Buster
I always start with either Galaxy or Splash. I DID try Tornado as a 1st boss only ONE time, and I did manage to beat him, its just that the stage's gimmicks with the moving platforms made me wish i had Rush Jet.
I watched a couple MM9 speedruns and they all started with Splash Woman, eh
@@DJTileTurnip Normally people start with Splash, Concrete or Tornado.
Some people start with Splash because she takes 2 damage from buster, being an easy first target, and her weapon is the weakness from Concrete Man, wich gives an useful weapon.
Some starts with Concrete because his stage is easy buster-only and the good weapon.
Some starts with Tornado because his stage can be speedrunned with rain and his weapon is useful.
@@chillway5776 and they start with galaxy man because he’s easy, so is the stage, and it beats jewel man.

How much war did you have to go through to get that name?
It's actually good on the GB
if it weren’t spark shock i would have actually said charge kick. you basically get hit using it.

Thank you for putting Spark Shock at No. 78 and not Metal Blade at No. 1. You actually know what you're talking about.

Napalm Bomb's explosion does deal "splash" damage, but the hitbox for it is so small that you'll almost never see it
Yeah I swear you can destroy enemies like the chicken or big jumping guys by spamming it.
:0
The Wily Wars version of the Top Spin is actually one of the best weapons in the game. Wily Wars also buffed Atomic Heat’s damage and nerfed the metal blade.
you really put your heart into this one
And into your comment.

Didn't see you mention it, and I didn't know this at first either; but do try it! It makes it much more enjoyable!
Yash Lala Yep!
I wonder where the weapons from MMU would fit in that list.
Everything would be high except Trinitro Blast tbh
It uses WAY too much energy
well, one thing for sure. Glue shot might be a bit of a racer to concrete shot as they are very similar
@Teresa ValdovinosAn unoriginal weapon would beat a weapon that acts alike?
Honestly, they'd all be near the top, the bottom would probably be Tank Arsenal, I've never thought of using it.
I think Plug Ball is really fun to use because it makes you think and can hit things from very interesting places. I'd encourage you to do a Plug Ball only run, it's surprisingly versatile.
He did. Check out Snupster's Plug Ball only run.
I recently did, and its very awesome! Goated indirect weapon.
This video is comedy gold. Loved every minute of it.
Fun fact: if you use the thunder bolt on turbo man or spring man, Turbo man will go Turbo mode and becomes invincible for a brief moment of time, and spring man will become magnet man's magnifying attack
It's for reasons like these I will never believe Mega Man 7 was made in only three months.
Metal Blades is still your go to weapon on Wily Tower. But it's fun to have that with the good weapons of Mega Man 1.
I'm right here.
These time stamps will go from 78 - 38 in order for you to watch this yet pass weapons on the lower half of the list because why not?

Casual Mega Man 2 players: A lot of people work really, really hard to beat this game, but it's not meant for everyone
Me: *That's why you use Metal Blades and I don't*
IMO the thunder beam should have a terrible balance score. the twirl barely ever gets in the way and doesn't save the fact it destroys enemies and fires in three directions.
It also annihilates most bosses. I never had a problem aiming it since the 3 projectiles are so damn big.
The fact alone that Top Spin was not the last place shows that someone really invested a lot of thought and work into this. I totally like this and after seeing the first entry decided to give you my full watch time (I think) :P
Top Spin isn't bottom place worthy, like Bubble Lead, Power Stone, or even Spark Shock, at least it accurately kills enemies, and destroys final Wily
You can use Hard Knuckle, but SS takes half the energy and saves your Knuckle for breaking walls.
...
@@systemafunk Hi, welcome to hell
@@systemafunk You can indeed spark them
As well as the acrobat enemies
The problem is: why tho? Almost any of them are positioned in ways you can easily kill them from some ladder or wall or you can easily slide below them and just keep going
So why open the menu and switch to it?
In fact with the acrobats i find top spin more useful as i can spin in both his pool and himself and get two items at once.
Theres no reasons to use it and thats sad since ice slasher and chill spikes are two of my favorite weapons in megaman
A few worthwhile notes:
Yamato Spear ignores shielded enemies, a boon it's quite good for depending on your boss order in 6. Additionally, Plant Barrier does too for....some reason. I really like all of 6's weapons, they feel incredibly well thought out except for like, Blizzard Man and Wind Man's.
Yamato spear ignores shields? Name an example
And no, knight man doesn't count
IMO: Power Stone still loses to charged buster on that. So does Napalm. No reason to get so close.
The Retro Job Why the fuck didn't Gemini laser drain energy in your video. I think somebody got caught cheating!
DWN-019 Gemini Man Yes
No metal blades in top three liked and subbed so fast
It's extremely normal:
Nico used 4 criteria:
Performance, and, for the Metal Blades case, it has good performance.
Metal Blade is objectively one of the absolute most powerful weapons in the entire series;
the reason why it isn't in the top 3 in this video is because it is way too broken in MM2, so it got terrible Balance points (0 points, in fact), and this dramatically affected its average score, otherwise it would be in the top 3 on practically every Mega Man list in the world.
@@lexcentrique2554 what?
@@lexcentrique2554 okay okay I made this when I was 12 I think my shit grammar has you confused. I wasn't being sarcastic I liked the balance score
So this is how you got into Nico. Gotta say, this man needs more subs.
Anyone else agree?
i agree man but it should deal damage aswell plus even if it did do that it would still be kinda trash but i agree man

Power Stone isn't a good weapon, but DAMN is it fun to use when you know how to use it
That is impossible
yeah you'll never learn how to use the thing. Nico put it damn well, the power stone is like pissing out 2 pee streams and hitting the toilet with neither of them.
Have you ever tried using it as an anti swarm? *cough* Space Mets is Star Man's stage *cough*
Power Stone is fun AF in MM8BDM
You just run up to someone, hit mouse1, then watch them explode
I *really* wish Power Stone was stronger damage-wise
It's crazy how many shields end up placing well in this list. I guess maybe people give them too much crap (granted, many still appropriately ranked low)
In a vacuum, shields like Skull Barrier or Star Crash should be crap. But the level design in those games has sections where they’re quite useful.
The reason why star crash is ranked this high is to make leaf shield feel bad, leaf shield really deserves it
This list is mainly good, especially Spark shock at 78, but my problem is the way you show-cased Time stopper makes it look like it has no uses when it can be quite useful.
My top 10:
10:Rain Flush
9:Flash Stopper
8:Rolling Cutter
7:Flash Bomb
6:Slash Claw
5:Jewel Satellite
4:Tornado Hold
3:Wheel Cutter
2:Drill Bomb
1:Hornet Chaser
My one problem with the concrete shot, is the cost, as I feel myself constantly running out of ammo, but it is still hella fun to use
That's probably a decision to increase balance factor. With 28 uses it would be slightly overpowered.
@@thetriplee6181 yeah, that makes sense, but sometimes I feel like it runs out waaaaaay too fast
I use Spark Shock on Bikkys (Mega Man 3’s Big Eye equivalent) to go under them even easier than just sliding under them
This was The Roast of Mega Man Weapons.
Good job.
Omg I love this you’re like AVGN mixed with The Lonely Goomba
Water Shield is great. It trades the crazy damage potential of Ghost Barrier's formation for a tighter, more secure shield, while keeping the same release and wear-down gimmicks.
Ghost barrier? Did you by any hazards mean skull barrier?
@beavertailschef4205 Nope, talking about a shield weapon from MegaMari, which has a lot of similarity to the water shield. And given how OP the weapons get in MegaMari, Pump Man's shield being on the same level is a very good thing.
In the mega man remake Powered up they actually fixed the Bomb so it DOES blow up on contact.
Hyper Bomb in PU is fun
yup. REALLY FUN
It's the same in Mega Man Maker, but the bombs explode on four ways ala Bomberman.
The weapons were improved in PU, but can we agree that PU is really easy because of all the checkpoints?
@@thesoldier7868 I find PU really hard on Hard mode. Maybe I just suck.
I'm saying one thing
Metal Blade in 1st place, it's overpowered, you can shoot in 8 directions, has a good damn damage, and i doesn't drain too much, also in second place i'll put Thunder Beam, third place Shadow Blade, and in the other places, all of them, but in last place, Spark Shock LoL
Looks like you skipped the first 3 minutes of the video

Here's something we can't all agree on but is something somebody (me, precisely) asked for.
How bout doing a "BEST Mega Man Robot Master Battles" (all 78 CLASSIC ROBOT MASTERS) list on this epic MM enthusiast channel of yours?
Or maybe a "BEST Mega Man Robot Master Stages" list?? I'm sure that would take you a really long time to compile together, but I have lots of patience. :)
Tory Ficarola I'm currently working on a robot master list.
The Retro Job Hell yes!!! Very sweet. I wonder how you will rate my 2 favorites: Galaxy Man and Shadow Man. :D
Tory Ficarola *loosens collar*
I'd put gravity hold up higher; that one is the only whole-screen weapon I ever use outside of boss fights. Mostly it's because of a few certain a-holes that hit you into pits.
43:28 "There's nothing better than just barely saving your ass"
*shows clip of him dying*
Can't even hate on this list. It's a refreshing way to look at it all.
(Also do not read if you haven't watched yet.)
Part 1
(Although I don't think it was THAT bad to use against Wily.)
(And I agree that the change in height was monotonous.)
Oh well.
Part 2
39: Plant Barrier: Forgive me, but this is really the only one I really disagree with.

Boring to use but certainly very effective as it kills most enemies in 1 hit or 2
The only time the spark shot is useful (besides on magnetman who is piss easy) is on hard man’s stage.

66: I would do the wave, but I don't wanna encourage this weapon.
65: Pong Ball physics, but as a weapon
64: Spark Shot, but it's worth using
63: I like how it bounces.
62: mm2wood
61: Remember Shotgun Ice from Mega Man X? This is similar, albeit different.
60: 3 whirlwinds? That's it?
59: Aqua Man. Name of a DC character. Has a bad weapon. They couldn't have given us that cool water cannon attack instead?
58: Bubble Lead, but air
57: I like the way it moves along the walls and ceiling.
56: What does this have to do with trains?
55: Clearly a very fun mode of vertical transportation. Doing damage is an added benefit.
54: Remote Controlled Crash Bomber
53: Samus did it better.
52: Water Wave's Cooler Brother
51: Ryuenjin, but without the inputs
50: They managed to turn this into Mega Man's Dash Attack when it could only be used in midair.
49: Why is this so addicting to trap enemies in?
48: Calling this trash would be correct in a physical sense and incorrect in a gameplay sense at the same time.
47: Snake? Snake?? SNAKE!
46: Launch Octopus called. He wants his missiles back.
45: 5 PP, 130 Power, 90% Accuracy. Lowers Special Attack of the user by 2 stages. Wait, wrong game.
44: What the heck is a Yamato?
43: Yo, dude. Chill Spike. (insert 90's laugh track)
42: (comedic upwards slide whistle noise)
41: Never look a gift Centaur Man in the horn or however that saying goes.
40: Is there some kind of historical significance to Fish People wielding Tridents?
(Halfway there) 39: Plant Barrier over Leaf Shield. Okay.
38: Just when the enemies think they're out of reach of your weapons, you hit them with this.
37: The projectile fired is just so mesmerizing for some reason.
36: Laser ability from Kirby
35: No comment. I don't use it that much.
34: I need only one link to describe this. ua-cam.com/video/8RDy4XLJ2bk/v-deo.html
33: What makes me a good Demoman? If I were a bad Demoman, I wouldn't be sittin' here, discussin' it with ya now, would I?!
32: If Atomic Fire and Fire Storm had a child, you would get this.
31: Look how he massacred my boy.
30: A tomahawk, a form of AX, used as a Frisbee-like weapon.
29: The OG Boomerang weapon
28: Good for crowd control and protection, as it covers your front and your back.
27: You can fire this weapon 224 times before you need to refuel back to full.
26: Make your opponents see stars with these stars.
25: Another shield weapon, this time made of skull energy
24: Bounce physics that make you feel good for landing the shot.
23: Swords with Shotgun Spread. That's all it is.
22: Tornado Screen Nuke
21: A short lived barrier with a projectile
20: One of the best barrier weapons
19: You don't crush junk with this. You crush your enemies' skulls.
18: Many of you might have noticed that Mega Man uses this to start his Final Smash.
17: Mega Man's Many Mighty Magnet Missiles. Try saying that five times fast.
16: ZA WARUDO, but good.
15: Sonic's favorite weapon
14: Those are Homing Torpedoes. The game calls them Dive MISSILES. I'm slightly triggered.
13: The OG Ice Weapon. Feel freeze to use it however you like.
12: Metal Blade, but Boomerang
11: A screen nuke from the easiest boss. Capcom, why?
10: Slash Claw. Kills in Smash. Kills in the original game.
9: Shadow Blade, but closer range
8: Now I've got your power.
7: Flame Pillars are cool, no matter what.
6: It's fun to ride up walls with this.
5: The Sapphire Shield, The Diamond Defender, The Garnet Guard, The Bloodstone Barrier, The Ruby Resistor
4: Attacks above, below, and in front, with a hitbox the size of Pangaea
🥉3: It's a drill that explodes
🥈2: According to all known laws of Robotics, there is no way Mega Man should be able to have free will. His CPU simply cannot handle it. Mega Man, of course, has free will anyways because Mega Man does not care what humans think is impossible.
🥇1: He has concrete evidence that this is a good weapon.
Wow, this is an excellent video. Informative, well-researched, and even funny. I was scouting weapon features for an indy game that I'm creating, and this is precisely the kind of video I was looking for. Amazing! Great job.
Glad you found this video, instead of some guy that played every game once and rated metal blade in first place
A good video always ends with a C. Shot :D
Narus Ferree within this video is awesome
Yes, a charge shot
“Hands down the best shield” I said the exact same thing when I saw it for the first time
43:28 "There's nothing better than saving your ass at the last second" *dies*
This is the best weapons list ive watched. every other motherfucker ranked the weapons based on situational situations such as the thunder claw. Great job nico
Everyone ranks Metal Blade as best because NOSTALGIA! or because CAN'T BEAT THE GAME OTHERWISE!
MegaPhilX
Oh hi MegaPhilX... Megaman Unlimited, I love it.
Funny enough, I find MM2 pretty easy even without Metal Blade. The people who can't beat the game without it need to git gud XD
*Situational Situations.*
I only use Danger Wrap in a few cases throughout 7:
1. To destroy Cloud Man if I don't feel like using the buster
2. To get rid of spines if they cross my path
3. To get rid of the first two cones in Turbo Man's stage
4. To encase the little turtles in Wily Stage 2 and deal massive damage to the boss
I just realized, all three weapons in the thumbnail are featured in MaGMML2. It was a sign all along.
That was by far the most entertaining Classic Megaman video i've ever seen! Although i completely disagree on some aspects, can't deny you've done a pretty damn good job at it! Great shit man!! :D
You need to do more scripted videos. They're really good!
Good video. I like how you placed many of MM4's weapons high. It's my favourite MM, and your list helps prove it ;)
Laser Trident's utility is very underrated here. It's the Metal Blade of MM9 in that you can easily just kill Splash Woman first and never touch your Buster again that playthrough. Fast, strong, ammo efficient, ignores shields, it's the total package.
I doesn’t feel fun.
Or acuret.
Witch is why you use the buster. Especially Proto Man’s
@@WildAscension I'd actually argue it's even better for Protoman since his rapid fire buster only shoots 2 pellets at a time instead of Megaman's 3, so Laser Trident gives him a better rapid fire option.
Till I saw this I didn't know CONTRETE was so powerful and could be used for platforms.
43:20 that reminds me, Doom has probably one of the BEST weapon balances ever, there's a reason to use pretty much every weapon in that game.
/random
Roge9 Subscribe for random vids! As someone who has speedran Doom off and on for 15 years, this is the truest statement on the internet.
Good to see Crystal Eye getting some love.
Hmm i never liked Crystal eye nearly as much as gemini's but i do consider gemini the best bouncing weapon tho
People seriously overlooks the damage of that thing. It kills about everything fast asf
I like Sparks shock but you're right!
Great job!
That's THE only top list that includes "every" classic wepon!
Boss weaknesses don't count
MEGA MAN 2 has some pretty difficult bosses. Air Man, Quick Man and Boo Beam Trap are not easy at all. To have METAL BLADE as an early weapon is actually helping you balance the game considerably in your favor.
Air man and quick man can easily be tanked, boo beam trap can easily be dodged by rapidly pausing and unpausing
Ok, Imma put an end to the most relevant comments in this video.
"Where is MM&B? Powered Up? GB? 11?"
Have you checked the dates of when he published his list AND his evaluations of the given games? He didn't have any experience on them before he made the list. The list is about weapons from 1-10, which means... 1-10. Also, I think for the GB games, there will be separate lists in the future, so please, be patient.
"Why the hell is Metal Blade at #41? You have no idea what makes a good weapon."
I think YOU have no idea what makes a good weapon.
"When is the list going to be updated?"
We don't know, even I don't. All I know is that it may never get updated since Nico has a lot of work on his hands nowadays, so he barely gets any time. The only thing he can do is put his evaluations on hold and get on with the list-making.
Agree
It's just a damn game geez.
He probably doesn't want to make a list and see people bitching in the comments about a simple opinion.
Astro crusher can be used to cheese the snowboarding part in the wily stages
Concrete Shot is neat, but the best of the best in my opinion is Hornet Chaser
the funniest thing about thunder wool to me is that it kicks ASS in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, it’s a fairly large AoE multi-hit ground trap that can one-shot if you land all its hits
Dude that game is hella fun!
I'm new to this channel but man! What a great and entertaining video! I really enjoyed watching this. It shows that you actually put a lot of work into this video. just curious though, will you make a video for the Mega Man x weapon list? i would definitely watch that!
Thanks! At some point, when I accumulate more info on the X games.
The Retro Job Thanks for letting me know, and looking forward to it!
I actually found out you can aim the freeze cracker.
Also I adore the slash claw for one reason. It's literally a bitch slap. You get to walk up to a robot master, tell it that it's a fucking useless hunk of junk, And slap it in its damn face.
We're 3 minutes and 19 seconds in
Nico: It comes out as a 'shock' that this is the worst weapon in the classic series
FINALLY! someone truly knows the power of the top spin.
Wow. I knew Power Stone was a fantastic weapon, but I never would've expected it to get 3rd place of all time! I'm not really sure I agree with Spark Shock and Bubble Lead being more useful than PS though. Otherwise, fantastic list!
i can't tell if this is sarcastic or your being literal because power stone was three spots from last place
Third spot from the last actually as a name, it's known as the antepenultimate.
This comment is sending me lmao
6:56 deep digger mega man v gb
You think Capcom has a big copy of this weapon sheet on their wall while developing Mega Man 11? You’d hope.
In retrospect, they probably did, like good god they did their research.
considering 11's weapon set, I'd say they did
grenade man really is the highlight of mega man 8, huh?
Way too nice to plant and especially skull barrier and i kinda disagree on how you view some of the weapons in megaman 8 but hey. Opinions. And this list was pretty good!
Would love to see where the mega man and bass weapons place since you've played it now
