So after crunching the numbers here's a list of how the games rank based on their Robot Masters. I added together all the ranks from the Robot Masters, then divided the result by eight to get an average rank. This produced the following results: - #11: Mega Man & Bass, with 68,875. Pitiful number. Even having Ground Man at #12 doesn't save the game when three-quarters of the Robot Masters are in the bottom quarter of the list. - #10: Mega Man 5, with 60,75. The only tie, with two clusters near the bottom being dragged up by the rest. 8 has both the highest and lowest ranking entry. - #7: Mega Man 1 with 49,75. The two pairings near the top (Bomb & Oil and Time & Guts) drag the stragglers at the bottom up nicely. - #6: Mega Man 6 with 43,75. Slighty fanned out with a focus in the low 30s. - #5: Mega Man 4 with 40,375. A wide grouping at the mid-range, with only Toad Man lagging behind to drag everyone down. - #4: Mega Man 3 with 39,875. Beating 4 with only half a point, Mega Man 3 has a tighter grouping with Needle Man and Shadow Man balancing each other out. - #3: Mega Man 7 with 35,25. A cluster in the low 40s is helped by having two entries in the top 5. - #2: Mega Man 10 with 26,875. Pump Man, Blade Man and Commando Man appear early, but when the other five are in the top 20 you'll score high. - #1: Mega Man 9 with 13,5. Not even a contest. Magma Man is the lowest at #30, and it only goes up from there with four entries in the top 10. So congratulations, Mega Man 9. You have the best Robot Masters.

Another awesome aspect about solar man is that his energy ball grows from Mega man's buster shots because his buster shots are actually derived from solar energy.
Power Fighters changing Centaur Man's weapon to the Centaur Arrow was such a better idea. I wish they actually made that the weapon in 6 and let him use it as well.
Other weapons were changed • Atomic Fire functions more like Flame Blast • Power Stone became a moving stone hand attack • Gemini Laser can now be fired even while one is on screen, and does not aggressively lag Edit: Pharaoh Man flat out got a new weapon, the Pharaoh Wave

From personal experience, I 100% agree with having Freeze Man number 1 or 2. He’s how an MMX boss SHOULD be. Just imagine other bosses that chain their attacks together in such a way. Concrete Man is the perfect example of a Classic Robot Master, his pattern is simple and effective, but still very fun.
Pyrrhus LJ frankly thats why i hate his fight, while it is very well put together and has nice transitioning, the pattern is a tad too fast and half the shit he does freezes you in place so he can cycle his pattern until he hits you, i get his name is freeze man but ffs man, the weakness is awkward and you can't really pull off a no-hit any easier with it, and sometimes the ceiling icicles and freeze man himself just don't let you through, i mean its a nice fight with amazing flow but man is it a pain to do
@@RollingPolio Most fights in classic are extremely painful to no damage anyways thanks to crap patterns or RNG. Freeze Man's fight is entirely manipulable and you will never take a pattern that you can't handle, no matter where you position yourself, as long as you make him jump at the right moment. I get you disliking it tho. It would be the Quickman of the game if there wasn't Slash Man with all that crap. I think Nico overates Slash Man too much.
@@RollingPolio Did you know that Freeze Man jumps when you shoot him? I was just as curiouswhy Freeze Man was high up and I felt he was rather garbage. Until I played Mega Man 7 recently and realized that Freeze Man jumps when you shoot. It made him a lot easier. May change your thoughts, may not. I am just offering a bit of info I recently learned in case you don't know it.
Tomahawk Man's weakness makes a lot of sense. A native american getting sick by something they're not familiar with, such as a foreign flower. The problem is that the weakness uses way too much energy when it's able to be destroyed by projectiles and it doesn't even pierce through projectiles even if it would still use the same amount of ammunition.
@@Dog-999iI like the idea of the tough looking robot master being weak against the pathetic weapon, same goes for Sword Man. The weapon energy thing really sucks, I’m surprised Nico didn’t mention it.
I love burnerman based on his design, established personality and personal headcanons of mine. I know the fight is abysmally difficult, but I can't help but love him. He's a loveable dickhead. I also adore chillman, good frosty boy.
Yeah, while the fight is definitely poorly designed, it's oddly fitting for it to be a character who's intended to be a sadistic loon who burns down forests because he gets off on it.
I honestly feel like the weakness score on Plug Man should be brought up a notch. An 8.3 IMO. The reason im saying this is because I feel that a lot of people don’t use Jewel Satellite properly on him. Most people equip the Satellite, and just walk up to him brainlessly. This is NOT it’s intended use for this fight. You block the Plug Balls, and fire it off AT A DISTANCE. A great weakness, but the only reason im giving it an 8.3 is because it doesn’t deal enough damage. Miss a single Jewel Satellite and you’re forced to finish Plug Man off with the Buster or another weapon. If you ever update this list with the Robot Master’s from 11 or even onward, be sure to keep this in mind. Other than that, great list. Very well researched and done.
I think ground man deserves more points on his weakness. It's awesome to plant the bomb on him while he's doing his invincible drill charge move so you can detonate it right away once he becomes vulnerable again. Not to mention that you can also prevent him from going underground by detonating as soon as he starts drilling through the floor.
you don't even have to detonate it, it detonates automatically when he jumps either underground OR into the ceiling, and will stop him from getting in the dirt.
Also, it's a weakness that makes sense. I mean, it's the exact same logic as Drill Man and Dive Missile - Ground Man is big and tough, so explosives make sense, and he's constantly getting away from you, so a remote-detonated stickybomb is pretty near perfect.
Hey Nico use the Rush Jet against Shadow Man. Then you can keep jumping and not using any energy as it only uses energy when standing on it. Stay in the air and keep shooting him. Stay on opposite side of the room from him. That's what I do.
Having used Toad Man in Mega Man Maker more often than any other robot master (since I primarily use him as a miniboss), I've figured out how to make his fight interesting. Pass-through platforms and water make the fight far more dynamic, since you kinda have to chase him to prevent him from using his acid rain attack. You can then increase the difficulty by using Mega Man 11 Acid Man water if you want to, since acid rain will acidify the water.
Just gonna rank the robot masters game by game from Megaman to Megaman 11 based on my opinion: Megaman 1 (And PU): 8: Oil Man 7: Bomb Man 6: Cut Man 5: Ice Man 4: Guts Man 3: Fire Man 2: Time Man 1: Elec Man Megaman 2: 8: Heat Man 7: Wood Man 6: Flash Man 5: Bubble Man 4: Crash Man 3: Quick Man 2: Air Man 1: Metal Man Megaman 3: 8: Top Man 7: 6: Hard Man 5: Gemini Man 4: Magnet Man 3: Snake Man 2: Shadow Man 1: Needle Man Megaman 4: 8: Bright Man 7: Dive Man 6: Toad Man 5: Ring Man 4: Dust Man 3: Skull Man 2: Pharoah Man 1: Drill Man Megaman 5: 8: Stone Man 7: Wave Man 6: Charge Man 5: Star Man 4: Gravity Man 3: Gyro Man 2: Crystal Man 1: Napalm Man Megaman 6: 8: Plant Man 7: Centaur Man 6: Yamato Man 5: Tomahawk Man 4: Wind Man 3: Flame Man 2: Knight Man 1: Blizzard Man Megaman 7: 8: Burst Man 7: Cloud Man 6: Junk Man 5: Slash Man 4: Spring Man 3: Shade Man 2: Freeze Man 1: Turbo Man Megaman 8: 8: Clown Man 7: Aqua Man 6: Sword Man 5: Grenade Man 4: Frost Man 3: Search Man 2: Astro Man 1: Tengu Man Megaman 9: 8: Plug Man 7: Jewel Man 6: Splash Man 5: Tornado Man 4: Concrete Man 3: Hornet Man 2: Magma Man 1: Galaxy Man Megaman 10: 8: Pump Man 7: Chill Man 6: Strike Man 5: Sheep Man 4: Blade Man 3: Solar Man 2: Nitro Man 1: Commando Man Megaman 11: 8: Bounce Man 7: Block Man 6: Fuse Man 5: Blast Man 4: Impact Man 3: Torch Man 2: Tundra Man 1: Acid Man
I find that that fight changes based on difficulty. On normal, I never actually saw him use power stone at all (he just jumped around like a psychopath and disassembled occasionally) but on hard, he used power stone relatively often and unlike in MM5, he could have multiple power stone attacks on screen at once.
I'd like to make a note about the Grenade Man fight. Most versatile know this of course, but I've noticed a lot of people dont quite know how his weakness works. You can use the Thunder Claw to bounce his Flash Bombs back at him for big damage!
*Concrete Shot and ConcreteMan being in first?* WoW what a surprise But i actually liked that! ConcreteMan is a pretty good robot master and his weapon, the *C.Shot* its so usefull for making speedruns and shit
Nico, did you know that you don't have to mash buttons when you're trapped inside Burst Man's bubbles? Just when you're about to touch the ceiling, slide. Yes, that's it, just slide and you will be completely unharmed.
(8:33) The player should be thanked, because of Toadman, the player knows who comes first in MM4 and RMW 4. And thanks to Toadman, the player is allowed to fight Brightman.
Actually, I had no idea you could break Tengu Man's Tornado Hold with the Frost Wave. I always just waited for him to dive at Mega and then ice him when he taunts
1:03:46 gotta love the high / low pitched voices saying "where's plug man?!" 49:16 pharaoh man people click this timestamp to go to pharoah man 1:01:25 "spikes in the ceiling?!, that's new and daring!" bubble man:so my battle doesn't exist?
Great list as always, although I agreed a bit more with your weapons ranking list. That was just PERFECT, if you ask me. Also, I just love the top 10 in this list of yours. You really put a loooooooot of thought and good MM playing experience/know-how into this, and it clearly shows. *thumbs up* I just love how you give props to the agregiously under-rated Freeze Man and Spring Man. ......And Slash Man too. God, I love the boss fights in 7. :D
Star Crash beating Gravity Man accutely makes sense when you really think about it. Stars can only be found in space. And there's no gravity in space. How is Gravity Man going to control something, in a place where it doesn't exist? He can't. wich is why star crash makes sense for a weakness.
Well, it doesn't matter if the weakness makes sense physically. It's cool if it does, but the main goal is for it to actually be a good weakness. So despite that it does matter of fact make sense, it still has no effect on the actual score of the weakness.
@@thetriplee6181 But with Skull Man, he said that the idea of laying more dust on bones made sense. I mean sure it’s also a good weakness for him, but look at Star Crash to Gravity Man. The bullets Gravity Man shoot throughout the whole fight can be pretty annoying. That’s why we have Star Crash, to block the bullets. Plus it’s not bad for Star smacking him in the head when you flip around with him.
Nico: Puts Shadow Man at the bottom 11 Me: *visible confusion and frustration* Nico: makes up for it by putting most MM9, 7 and 10 Robot Masters in the Top 44... Me: happiness noises
what bothered me is that he said Needle man was a bullshit hard boss and that every game needs to have one, but he dislikes shadow man for the exact same reason... talk about hipocrisy.
I really like the robot masters where the weakness feels like a mini puzzle. For example: Tengu Man's weakness being the Ice Wave. It makes an interesting fight where you gotta wait for just the right moment to hit him with his weakness. Similarly, I like how Gravity Man's weakness is the Star shield. It forces you to play chicken with the boss and position yourself just right whenever gravity switches so you can him. Fights like these have an interesting way for you to use the weakness that keeps the challenge of the boss fight. I appreciate that!
(15:30) When the player is in the corner, Airman just atack to the other said instead atacking to the player side. To improve his difficulty, Airman should have jump against the player.
When you fight Grenade Man with the Thunder Claw, you wait for him to fire the Flash Bomb and the Claw will knock it right back in his face for a fun animation
Pharaoh Man was always consistently my favorite Robot Master, even as a kid. I'm glad that the Ruby-Spears cartoon gave people more of an appreciation for him.
As much as I love Star Man (at least conceptually), I just love how you ripped into him being like a meager old man. I never laughed out loud so hard....definitely one of the highlights of this video. My only minor gripes are that I think you ranked Knight Man and Bright Man a bit too high. I know, I know....." Go fuck a bear or Hari Harry!"
SplendidNobleYouth - Star Man Well you certainly look splendid, young, noble and vibrant. And you sure know how to dance in low gravity, which takes quite a lot of talent. Too bad you're not that intimidating and hate getting wet.
Now if only you (Star Man) could have this attack pattern, that would be so fantastic! I actually joygasm-ed when I saw this Mezumi boss fight here at 05:45. ua-cam.com/video/ZXfLoH-dQcQ/v-deo.html
Oddly enough, Burner Man is one of my favorite bosses to fight. And yes, with Mega Man with the uncharged buster. I personally found the fight quite exhilarating and never really had a problem with the traps. Yes, it was extremely hard, but really satisfying. I agree with Dynamo Man though.
He kinda sucks against slightly more complex paterns, I can see. He complains about not being able to stay close to Tengu Man because of Rornado Hold when you can easily react by his animation and either jump over, slide under, or slide away. Tengu Man even says which attack he's using.
@@blackpants7385 Agree on Tengu Man, although his weakness still sucks. But the Burner Man fight is not just a "complex pattern". The fight is really a mess with the room size, faulty weakness, trap spam and overall unavoidability of damage.
@@uandresbrito5685 Tengu Man's weakness doesn't really suck considering the damage it does and the fact that you can hit him twice in a row with it. Not only that, but it doesn't rob you of the buster I don't see what you mean by trap spam, he only has three out at most. Personally, I don't think a weakness not being free makes it bad, specially considering you'll always have Burner Man's weakness. It being harder to use is reasonable.
In Ring Man'd defense, chakram are a legitimate, albeit uncommon, weapon. I feel like that does a lot to make it less outright weird more just a quirky take
4 people that are having a hard time with shade man If you do not need the Wild coil you can use the junk shield when sliding under him to damage him in and the danger rap to hit him in the air
1. He has a pattern, jump 3 times, every jump has a random height, low, medium or high, after that he either shoots shadow blade or slides, then he repeats the pattern 2. It kills him in 2 hits
The Retro Job And eventually it will show everyone how much MM8's and MM&B's RM stages suck ass. And how Concrete Man's jungle/dam stage rules the most!!! ;)

I’ve also heard that the flower is the weakness because it’s a symbol for peace.

A weakness should never do more than 4 damage, otherwise the fight becomes way too short.
Woodman just looks like South Parks Cartman but in a tree costume to me. Also yeah, all of these actually seem about right to me.

4:04 that is singlehandedly the best description I have ever heard
Nico does what he does best, make overly detailed figurative language to represent something he dislikes.
During the Wind Man part, are you fuckin' okay, man?!
Wow, this Timmy fellow sure does have a love hate relationship with Mega Man 8...

I like your accent and your commentary is funny. I don't agree with all of it, but it's an enjoyable vid.

In Megaman for the Gamegear, Stone Man is actually faster, and uses the power stone attack more often.
I find that that fight changes based on difficulty. On normal, I never actually saw him use power stone at all (he just jumped around like a psychopath and disassembled occasionally) but on hard, he used power stone relatively often and unlike in MM5, he could have multiple power stone attacks on screen at once.
Fun fact about Centaur Man: He got an arrow weapon in Power Fighters (and you get that instead of Centaur Flash)
I'd like to make a note about the Grenade Man fight. Most versatile know this of course, but I've noticed a lot of people dont quite know how his weakness works. You can use the Thunder Claw to bounce his Flash Bombs back at him for big damage!
*Concrete Shot and ConcreteMan being in first?*

Nico, did you know that you don't have to mash buttons when you're trapped inside Burst Man's bubbles? Just when you're about to touch the ceiling, slide. Yes, that's it, just slide and you will be completely unharmed.
cool, maybe its cause the bubble explodes and when megaman is gonna touch the spikes, his hitbox gets lower due to the slide, I didnt know that
Me neither, I found this purely by mistake.
That's actually super smart. If it was intentional, it's another point towards the notion of 7 being the game with the most love put into it.
(8:33) The player should be thanked, because of Toadman, the player knows who comes first in MM4 and RMW 4. And thanks to Toadman, the player is allowed to fight Brightman.
The weakness or the weapon does not overall improve the fight.

Also, I just love the top 10 in this list of yours. You really put a loooooooot of thought and good MM playing experience/know-how into this, and it clearly shows. *thumbs up*
I just love how you give props to the agregiously under-rated Freeze Man and Spring Man. ......And Slash Man too.
I can’t wait to see that Gameboy robot masters list.

what bothered me is that he said Needle man was a bullshit hard boss and that every game needs to have one, but he dislikes shadow man for the exact same reason...
talk about hipocrisy.
The wily wars remake of mega man 1 makes the bomb man fight a lot harder since he doesn't just jump away from you.
(15:30) When the player is in the corner, Airman just atack to the other said instead atacking to the player side. To improve his difficulty, Airman should have jump against the player.
Bright man: 1 buster shot, rest rain flush.
Cloud Man's design is based on Raijin's, a Japanese kami. Look it up, Cloud Man pretty much looks like a robot version of it.
When you fight Grenade Man with the Thunder Claw, you wait for him to fire the Flash Bomb and the Claw will knock it right back in his face for a fun animation
