Sheet metal is okay for concepts but aluminium would have been a better choice or maybe some plastic acrylic sheeting with a chrome finish.

If the armour could unfold from a block or a backpack or a big suitcase, like iron man armour does, it would be awesome. I know it's a big project but damn you have done cars already!...
And... add whatever you want to the armour like springs to protect you from impact, and weapons. You would be the first person to make a functional armour of this kind!

And the cutting is very slow to do. The time laps doesn't help to get an idea, but it takes at least 5 to 10mins per panel to be cut.

I notice that the plates are completely flat which results in less stiffness for an equal weight. If you put a bend on the leading long edge, just one side of each plate, then they would still nest but be much stiffer. You might even be able to reduce the thickness and weight. Also it would look rad, especially if the bent edges went outward and were serrated.
