I love the 22 mag, and I have never shot the 17 HMR, and the 22 LR just goes without saying. What I really wanted to comment on is your accuracy. In so many YT gun channels it is a great feat for them to get two shots close to each other, and you drill the same hole, shot after shot. Pretty darn good shooting.
That little lightweight 17 HMR surprised me cause I figured 4 for it. The Super Extra & 22wmr went about like I thought. Thought at that weight & velocity the 17 might come apart more. Very good test! 👍🙏
Personal testing with rimfires proved that .17hmr with cci a17 was able to punch holes 3mm thich swinger targets meant for 22lr at 100 meters. 22wmr fmj just bended them but not even close to go trough. So im pretty confident how those v-max bullets slap hard objects. But could a17 penetrate that block ? Not sure but fmj propably would go trough with single shot.
@@KesssuliPretty sure the 22lr Punch would & 22wmr Punch hp might with 1 shot. Both do well on a frozen gallon of water. Mossberg 817 is accurate also. Good enough to loan to grandson for next 50yrs lol.
@@billdye3530 I dont think 22lr punch could penetrate that block with one shot. It is lighter than typical 22lr load and still slower than average 22wmr. 22Wmr punch will be very close. But it trades its velocity to bit heavier bullet so again it needs to be tested to be sure.
People sometimes forget the .17 HMR and .22Mag out of a rifle have the same power as a 9 mm. So the results are impressive (especially for the .17HMR) but not too surprising.
Everyone needs a 22lr. But 10 years ago, I had to decide between a 22mag and 17hmr. (I know what you're thinking...why not both?) But I went with the 17hmr. Accuracy and speed won out over bullet weight. It's my longer range squirrel gun, and short range groundhog gun. I like the REAL flat trajectory of the 17hmr out to a little over 100 yards.
Sold my 17hmr and bought a 223 since ammo is cheaper, more reliable, has greater reach and is more useful in general... Only negative is that the pelt gets 2 holes instead of one... Which is acceptable

First of all I used both "cinder block" and "concrete" terminology throughout this video via title, thumbnail, and actual content in an attempt to please both sides. I see now that was in vain, as I am still getting the comments such as this. If I say concrete, then I get comments saying it's a cinder block- if I say cinder block, then I get comments like yours saying it's not a cinder block. I can't win! And for the record, some manufacturers do still add cinder to the blocks as a filler because it saves them money. I actually researched it, instead of assuming...
some 22 mags are above 2000 FPS. I like CCI stingers, at 1640 FPS but not the magnums. Too slow. Like to see all three with better ammo and only bolt action rifles.

I mean, why did you watch then? And the point is to get views to get a paycheck since this is my day job. I don't know if you can tell by the over 100,000 views in just a month, but people watched the crap out of it...
What's not fair is you accusing me of not being fair. I have actually researched this extensively. Chamber tolerances and type of rifling make more difference on velocity than whether or not it's a semi-auto or bolt action. It's literally about a 1% difference or less, semi-auto vs bolt. So the very slight to non-existant difference is negligible at best, and therefore does not affect the outcome of this test. There is more variable from one block to the next or one spot of the block to the next spot, than there ever would be from comparing semi-auto vs bolt...
@sorshia - No it's not, not if it's the same barrel length. If it's not the same barrel length then I don't know what you're even doing here because that is your first mistake. You have no clue what you're talking about...
All u smart guys go get a chronograph and compare same length barrels with same ammo. Very little diff. Now once barrel length changes velocity changes but if u were really smart you’d already know that and not spew such nonsense 😂
Dont load the deck for the 17. Use the same style gun. The 22 mag lost velocity using a auto. Use a bolt like my CZ455 and youlle see a big difference. The 22 mag still hit harder as evidence of the larger mess in the back of the block. Of the 2 ille take 22 mag all day. Hits harder and the 17 though a blast to shoot makes a horrible squirrel gun as it tears the while head off and makes cleaning a absolute chore.
The style of gun does not matter, once the ammunition is seated into the chamber all the matters is the firing pin hitting the primer, the bullet being forced out of the barrel, now, the length of the barrel is what really matters because a bullet can lose velocity if the barrel is too long for that cartridge. Peace.

The word for blowing out the back while not punching clear through is "spalling." Armored vehicles have this problem when hit by solid penetrators.
In the case of armoured vehicles running into this spalling predicament, how much damage does this do to occupants?
