So interesting,Indian street food is very popular in NYC it’s everywhere, and thali’s are on a lot of menus,I think perhaps because Indian food is much newer to America,it might be a bit more authentic. No chips in American Indian restaurants. There are all sorts here, from small takeout restaurants that cater to taxi drivers,to very up scale expensive fusion type places to everything in between We have vegetarian canteens on the lower floors of Hindu temples, and they have a high rating food wise.

Long overdue. I remember reading about a guy who was over in the USA a few years ago, visiting foodie friends in one of the major cities and they promised him a special treat at a brand new restaurant.
It turned out to be a very mediocre Anglo-Bangla style place that was reminiscent of the sort of thing you'd find in a moderately-sized British market town in the Eighties.
I think it even had flock wallpaper, vertigo-inducing carpet and a chicken tikka masala that was fluorescent enough to guide shipping through heavy fog.
Patri, on the other hand, looks fabulous!

In traditional Indian meals, this is how food is served on a large round silver or stainless steel tray called a thali. Then small stainless steel bowls are placed in it with different dishes but not as many as here. 😅 The stainless steel keeps the food hotter for longer. You would probably have maybe 1 or 2 non veg and/ or 2 or 3 veg along with either rice or roti or nan and a small salad plus homemade pickles/chutney and yogurt/raita. But in modern India people often eat on normal china plates or they sometimes have a thali. Depends on the region and individual family.

@@vibhac5403 thanks for a well spoken reply😊 personally Im familiar with Pakistani food because I work together with a family for 14 years. I guess it's more or less the same kind of food. I'm myself Danish so it's delicious different from our own boring un exotic food.

@@nickeypetersen5622 Pakistani food is slightly different since they have a greater emphasis on meat dishes, while India has more emphasis on vegetarian food. I'm punjabi and most Pakistani dishes are from the punjab region. However, India is vast and the dishes from southern, eastern, central and North Eastern India are very different to punjabi cuisine, which is essentially North Western India on the border with Pakistan. The coastal regions of India have a lot of seafood as well. Glad you found it interesting.

@@vibhac5403 it is precisely my experience. And by the way, my friends are from Punjabi which the most are in Denmark. Known they are more to meat, and I had been told that 80 % of India are vegetarian. Moreover I had been told that Pakistan mix more spices than indian do. I'm not fully sure what is correct or not. But I sense some hints😊

@FoodwithChetna I understand that, but there is a significant disparity between your - and most others' - reviews and the reviews one sees on Google Maps for the same place.
Could it be that the restaurant "saw you coming"? (Excuse the fused participle).
