good shout i bought a 2012 varadero xl1000va earlier this year and i cant complain at all. such a lovely comfy bike and a great bike to ride. never bought a brand new bike but as you say the added security with a bike dealer is bonus. the lights on these are awesome too.
Great bikes. Bit to big for me to take off road. But was brilliant on road. One of the most comfortable bikes I’ve been on. Would be great for a long tour.
@@GillyBikes yeah i agree. im 6ft1 and i havent been off road on it but as far as on road im well impressed. i bought mine off the back of my father in law owning a 2002 model and then all the reviews online.
I had 4 of these brilliant bikes, my last one was the same colour as the one you’ve ridden a 2008 model, just a little top heave with a full tank of fuel.
I don’t think it would be the easiest bike for a test as they are quite tall and heavy. That being said if you are over 6ft that shouldn’t be a big issue for you.
Fun fact: this is the only bike I've had flies crash...behind the screen! I am not joking! With the stock screen, the is a suction/depression that happens behind the screen and flies can get sucked in hard enough to get crushed behind the screen! Other than that, it's heavy because it's a tank, like really a tank! But only at a stand still. If you can live with that, this thing will take you on long trips without skipping a beat! To a point that it's not even worth getting a warranty...
These are definitely more comfortable than the vstrom the standard seat on the vstrom is not great. Very similar bikes other than that. I would be happy with either.
Good choice. I haven’t seen any on the roads for a while. Then last week in Germany I stopped at a little cafe and a guy pulled up on one. Nice go anywhere bikes.
@@GillyBikes i have not seen 1 mate seen a few African twins tho cant beat a Varadero i used mine to get from Manchester to Scotland every week miss it 😎 lol
Subscribed. Genuine down to earth guy that understands us bikers that don't have £20.000 for a brand new bike. Please do more of these vids.
Thanks Nathan. I appreciate that. Loads more coming 👍

Totally agree great bikes. Very heavy. Really comfortable mile munching though.
Very good review👍🏻
Why thank you 👍
On my second xl1000, it's my favourite equal with the VFR750
I can see why. They are great bikes to ride.
Thanks for the great review, I’m looking at one as my first big bike, do you think it would be ok to sit my full license test on it? Thanks again

Perfekt touringbike its just go and go and go
Totally agree. Great bikes 👍
No Brasil chama-se "moto"🖒 bicicleta é outra coisa🖒
Can I ask. I'm currently looking at one of these bikes and also a newer v strom 1000. How do they compare

I am looking at one of these for my first bike. Am I mad. I'm 6ft7?
The best thing for you to do is find one and sit on it. You will know then if it’s comfortable for you. It’s a good choice for your first bike.
Bought a new one 22 years ago. After that used.
Have you got one now?
@@GillyBikes Thinking of it.Sounds like almost a no-brainer for an old body.Nice video btw.
Thanks. They are good solid bikes. You should treat yourself. 😎
i had 1 for my first big road bike i put it on my pic mite get a new 1

That’s some trip every week. They are getting rare so I wouldn’t wait to long.
5 gears makes it high rpm and noisy at 120km/h
A great noise though?
