That first responders line got a major burst out of me.
Chopping heads off to change orientation sounds like a not-so-well-thought-out proposal for conversion therapy
The packaging art for the Crash Dummies toys was done by Marc Ericksen. The person who drew the Mega Man 2 cover as well as a bunch of others.
This game has european design all over it. The non linear level design, the commodore 64 style music, the water drops that may or may not hurt you.
The music is by Tim and Geoff Follin, that's why the music is decent.
No doubt. Not quite Pictionary this time tho
mike follin's sound driver is recognizably there but geoff's compositions tend to be a bit more understated than tim's more bombastic selections. the FLASH!-esque intro theme is probably tim
My favorite LJN game.
Love the Follin soundtrack, especially the opening theme.
The 7 min videos are the right length for NES game reviews. Great stuff. Really glad this was recommended to me 🎉🎉🎉
Glad you enjoyed!
I've always seen this game around and no idea what it actually was, so thanks for shining some light on it! Nice video as always!
It's a bit of a... wreck
@@NESFriend ba dum tish
It provides something destructive while calling it dumb. It's art
I remember the NES game. The toys too. I was especially fond of Junkman and the other evil robots. as for the game, well, I really tried to love it, but couldn't get very far as a kid. The music from stage 1 has burned into my memory. I also remember getting some motion sickness from playing as Spin.
I had this as a kid, and remembered it as maybe being the first game ever I was "torn" on. Like, _I didn't hate it_ - like you said, you can get good at it and whatnot if you want to. But I knew it wasn't as good as it should be. That being said, I knew it wasn't _bad_ either. Really confused little kid me, lol.
Nowadays I think I can identify it's the Euro-Platformer vibes (including that awesome soundtrack; you just know whoever composed this must've done some KILLER work on the C64) and enjoy it as a pretty alright example of one of those. I know Euro-Platformers can go really wrong, with sprawling, aimless, mazelike levels, unfair difficulty spikes, generally obtuse design, poor controls and tons of random collectible junk... and this doesn't commit many of those cardinal sins, so it's one of the better ones from that era.
You're right that it doesn't hold a candle to the other toys tho. I still think I have my TYCO Crack-Up Doll with the velcro'd-on limbs you could tear off and put back on. Man, what a great gimmick! Those things were so creative!
Exactly, torn is a great way to put it. Good music, I have a soft spot for the dummies, and it's not the worst thing ever but yeah, the sprawl and lack of variety really does it in. Good hearing from ya!
I was lucky to have had my 6mo of cable TV in my life during this campaign (and toy commercials, never saw the toys or show), and I knew a lot of people who didn't wear belts. I could hear the commercial say "you could learn a lot from a dummy." Even with the reversed controls (which i would've hated), seem like a top-tier ljn game. Good band, too. Great video, thanks for the nostalgia!
I love all of the background on the dummies before you even get to the game. Memories...
@LOL at the PSA for products spawned as a PSA!
I remember the games and the cartoon show. Even had a few of their toys. I thought it was cool that you could push a button and their body parts would go flying, and I had one of their cars that would smash real good. I think I only played the SNES one once and never again lol
Thanks for these throwbacks! I’ve never even heard of this game. Awesome video!
Bill Chicago
I loved the history piece at the beginning! The game was definitely frustrating and I gave up after a few tries on this one.
I never knew these took flak for glorifying car crashes 😂 thats awesome and so America 😂😂😂 Awesome intro here with some cool footage of the toys. Great stuff.
Wild how this managed not to have anything car related, but platformers were The Style At The Time™
I mean, they could always bring this series back. Oh, and have Criterion develop it! This definitely isn't a transparent ploy to get a new Burnout game
I just found out about your channel today and I really love it. Thanks for the great content. Tbh, would love to see more videos like the one where you complete Turtles. Was so relaxt to watch!
Hey thanks! Glad you found your way here!
This reminds me a lot of the old Apogee games, like the original Duke Nukem (the side scroller)
I loved those toys as a kid and all they did was make me want to crash a car IRL - good thing I wasn't allowed to drive 🤣
So the government was right about you!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
I had this game as a kid. Never beat it. Got too hard for me
Is adult you going to give it a shot?
