Installing a Dramm Soaker Hose and Timer | Here She Grows

- Rain has been scarce in the Chicago area and my garden is bone dry, especially on the the west side. The sun bakes this area all day long. And instead of hand-watering until rain comes, I thought a soaker hose and timer would take care of the issue and give me more time for other things in and out of the garden. It's easy to do and a great way to conserve water.
Unlike regular sprinklers where a lot of water is lost to evaporation, a soaker hose delivers it directly to the root zone. A timer attached takes the thought process out of it. Simply set it for the time you want and forget it. It does the rest for you and everyone's happy.
I'm a big fan of the Dramm Corporation and use a lot of their watering tools in my garden. And the family-owned company is based in Wisconsin so it feels good to support and buy American!

😄 "ta da!!" I hear you girl 😊 Good job snaking it all through! Love your trellis! Thanks for the solution. You are quite gifted. Look at you!!! 🙌❤
Great video. Easy to follow thank you!
How did you get away without installing a water pressure regulator valve? Even with the pressure regulator valve my hose sprayed tiny streams into the air. I had to turn my splitter part way off to get the hose to just drip. Any thoughts on this issue? Thanks, and have a good day.
Great work. Thank you.
this will be so helpful for you in the summer heat
It certainly has been! And shortly after I installed it, it rained!
I find it difficult to avoid a leaky connection between the plastic hose & the soaker hose.
What connections are used here?
Did you post a video of putting down the mulch? Or how it looks after the mulch is down? I want to get some soaker hoses for my flowers and plants and want to put mulch down, too. Would love to see any hints on doing these. It IS def getting to be a drought here in the Chicago area!
I didn’t show the mulching part as it hadn’t been delivered at the time of this filming. But you’re right, that would be a good follow-up video.
Did you have to position the soaker hose so the holes face down and don’t spray upwards?
There are no directed holes. The hose pretty much just sweats in all directions so as long as you position it near the root system of the plant, you’re good. Landscape pins help keep the hose in place.
Gosh, I need to add drip we have been so dry 😭
It’s definitely a big help!
