Many of the issues i've experienced in my garden have just been caused by uneven watering. I'd like to get back all the time (and money) i've wasted on trying to fix issues with my plants when the problem all along has just been lack of a consistent watering schedule. Pls enjoy the video, "How to install soaker hose in the vegetable garden" - I am sure this will help your garden as it has mine.

The way this guy is speaking, it’s like he’s letting me in on the secret of a lifetime.
Thank you for your video! You’re the first UA-cam instructional speaker that went slow enough and spoke clearly. Awesome information about the how and they why and additional hardware. Thanks again!
Just bought a 75’ soaker hose for my raised bed. Your video contained all the information I need to get started. My plants and I thank you! !
Came to learn about soaker hoses, ended up falling asleep from the ASMR voice.
Thanks for sharing - you spoke clearly, took your time, and let me know exactly what I will need before starting Very helpful.
I'm getting ready to install my soaker hose here in Las Vegas, NV. This video was fantastic! Thank you! I totally second B-Hyve! I have 2 standards and 1 bluetooth with the wifi addition. So easy for testing, manually running, and programming!! 💚
Did anyone notice his Dog's outfits? So cute! Anyways, thanks for your help!
You are a great teacher. ..Lots pertinent info. I appreciate your ability to explain things in an easy to understand manner. I look forward to watching other videos.
Great job with the video!
Excellent video: clear and informative. Thank you for thoroughly explaining how to install the soaked hose, providing the best options, and including product links
Exactly what I needed to know and straight to the point. Thank you!
Thank you for the info. I really appreciate it. It was very helpful.
Great video! Especially love the “hanger” tip. TFS!
Fantastic video. So much information presented succinctly. And lots of alternatives!
Thank you for this video. It’s exactly what I needed. I’m building a raised bed for vegetables.
This was great Riley.
2021 was my first year. I tried irrigation lines and struggled with all the tiny parts. Arthritis in my hands. I switched to soakers and they worked well. I do live on a well and tried an inline filter but it restricted the flow immensely. I did away with it. Looking forward to 2022. Added a few more smaller beds and learned a ton. I just have to find a way to leave space for continued harvests through the season. I had great lettuce but it bolted. I'll be better prepared next season. I even added trellises over the beds to give a bit of shade to the lettuces. Fingers crossed.
I wish you could explain everything to me all the time. Very good teacher. Thx!
You are welcome!
this feels like no bull gardening I like it!! Subscribing!
This guy's demeanor is fantastic.
I bought a huge box of weed blocking fabric staples that would work great for holding the hose down
Thank you so much for the video! I was thinking of getting an irrigation system this year and was tied between a soaker hose system or a drip system. Honestly, it looks wonderful to set up! And pretty much fool proof compared to a drip system! (Making sure the holes are near the plants, pressure regulation, some even have individual valves to adjust the drip rate per plant! 😵)
The soaker hoses aren't that common here, but I found a great deal online that works with the valves and connectors I already have!
I'm so excited to set it all up!
Very well-explained. I have also had success with using an end cap on the soaker hose. You may get somewhat more even pressure from your loop system with a low-volume flow. In my little flower garden the end-cap method works fine. Thank you.
Thank you for this info!!!!
Thanks for sharing the great ideas! Cheers from Minnesota!
Wished I had saw this video weeks ago. I purchased a system by Mister I believe and it's tiny tubing. Way too small. I'll be purchasing this hose and I'll save the other for my flowers in the front. Thanks for the tip with the wire too!
This is the 4th video I've watched and I'm subbing!
Great info!
Thank you and welcome to the channel!
Excellent video very informative thank you my friend
wow! Excellent instructional video!!! Thank you so much!!!!
You're very welcome!
Good information. Question, how do you keep the hose from kinking? I’ve used soaker hoses a long time and have had kinking problems
Thanks for making this video. Building the raised beds now and will need to setup the drip irrigation next. Great links to the products. :)
Good luck!
Just found your channel, thank you for explaining this so well! Subbed
Thank you for this video! Very helpful and clear instructions. I feel like I can actually do this myself now.
Stumbled on your channel by complete coincidence. I don't know what it is, but you are just super relaxing to listen to!
Thank You!
Good video bud I watched the whole thing very informative and easy going
Music now wow! Getting better and better.
She had a pink tutu 😂🐕🤗
Great Job Thank you for this video..😄👍
How do you manage a number of beds using this system? Don’t you have to move the garden hose from bed to bed? What do you do when you are out of town for a week or so? Thank you for this interesting video.
I have used soaker hoses, but have had trouble getting them to bend. How close to the plants do you need the hose to be? I plant flowers, how close to each plant does the hose need to be? Is efficient to have more than one length of hose in a bed?
Hi Sara,
I have a soaker hose in each bed and they are all connected to one main water line with a wireless programmable timer.
I’ve just done a video on the things I do before I leave the garden for a vacation. You may want to check that video out. When it comes to the soaker hoses though, I don’t have to worry about it because they are on a smart timer that will delay the watering if there is rain forecast or I can manually water them using my phone app when I’m out of town.
I loop The soaker hoses in rows about 8-12” wide. I use the wire clips to hold them in place while I’m bending them into this shape and do not have a problem. My plants are in the center of those 8-12” rows and I water deeply (30min) 2x per week this year and everything is working well.
Very well explained, thank you!
You're very welcome!
Great video. I have the same B Hyve timer and those same soaker hoses. Your plants look awesome and healthy. I would love to know how often you water and for how long. I have raised beds as well. I have searched and searched but everyone just says water tomatoes deep and not as often but I never know how much that actually is. 😭
Hi Renee,
When I first started using the soaker hose, I watered for 10 minute every morning around 10am and found that was too much water. I backed it off to 10 minutes 3x a week and that worked well for me. I have a friend that turns theirs on for 30 minutes one time per week but I found my beds would dry out completely if I did that here in south Texas. I hope that helps. If not, please experiment and let us know what has worked best for you.
Are you using pressure treated lumber lined with plastic for your raised beds? You've got a great set up. Looks nice too
Great tips!
Why did you setup so close to the edge of the garden? To me it’s seems a waste to water the wood. Just curious
Thanks man, only video I needed.
Hi! Great video, thanks!
Curious if you remove soaker hoses overwinter when the plants don't need watering? Then reinstall in the spring.. I heard this may extend their lifespan.
Yea I remove them every season.
How would this work with multiple beds 2 feet apart??
Cracks occure if it is cold spring time hose is brittle when cold Warm weather un real and straighten the entire length then a warmed hose put in place
I am about to set up my first two raised beds with soaker hoses. I don’t have an in ground pvc run so I am thinking of using 1/2 in irrigation supply tubing down the length of the two beds and then use barbed T fittings at each bed to run the soaker hoses to each bed. Will that work?
Sounds like a great plan
I love technology but I have to ask what happens when Wi-Fi is down
It will prob keep to the original cycle, most WiFi only changes anything when you send a command.
I noticed that you had a plastic disc with a hole in it...is this to keep hose pressure even? I'm having a problem with much more water from the soaker hose close to where the supply hose is screwed to it.
Yes. Your soaker hose connection / where it connects to the garden hose, should have this disc with the hole in it. It is to regulate the water flow into the hose. All soaker hoses that I have purchased have this regulator.
I have one dual spigot with two hoses going opposite directions. Can I use the hoses for general watering and cleaning if I have a timer on it? JoAnne
yes
Did you end up noticing if hard water decreased the life/performance of the hoses?
I did have a few hoses that had leaks this year but I think it was more that I left them hanging on the fence in direct sunlight. I'll update next spring after I move these soaker hoses inside for the fall/winter.
@@rileysgarden8153 Oh, do we need to move those soaker hoses inside for winter and then connect them before spring ? Thanks for the videos :-)
would i put the soaker line underneath straw or above, im using straw for mulch?
Clint, put the soaker hose on top of your soil and then cover it with your mulch (in your case, straw).
@@rileysgarden8153 sounds good thanks. havent planted much yet just onions and garlic. waiting fir it to warm up better around here. im in southern bc Canada
❤❤
Will this work if your area is not level?
Yes but you should try to run hoses across the slope as much as you can.
I have a 59 foot garden. Idk about this.
Thanks bro great help
