  • This tutorial is done in the Overlay Mosaic Crochet Technique. In this tutorial I will teach you how to crochet this eye catching Mosaic Crochet design.
This pattern is worked in a MULTIPLE of 14 + 4. ROW START TIMES PROVIDED BELOW. Additional info provided below for working in the round as well.
USE CHART 1 OR CHART 2 WITH THIS TUTORIAL.
TO REPEAT THE DESIGN FOR LARGER PROJECTS YOU WILL WORK ROWS 1 THRU 15 AND THEN WORK ROWS 2 THRU 15 AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WOULD LIKE FOR THE PROJECT YOU CHOOSE. END your project by working Row 15 as your final row & complete a row of SC in color A

🪄HOOK SIZE: I am using an F size Nelsonwood hook in this tutorial, you can find more info here:
    www.nelsonwood.net/store/c1/S...
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
    3 DK yarn : 3.5mm to 4.5mm
    Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5.5mm.
    Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm
SIZE 1 Lace Weight - 2.75mm to 3mm hook used on slouchy hat
THE YARN: I'm using size 3 & 4 yarn, any brand will work as well as any size.
Color A: Stylecraft Special DK in blush; Color B: Yarn Bee Divinity in Berry
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
Baby blanket: 116 chains depending on yarn size used
    Place mats: 60 chains
Table Runner: 60 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
Throw blanket : 172 chains, yarn size will affect total width and the number of repeats is up to you and will determine total length
Tote or Throw Pillow: 60 chains depending on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together
Makeup or Notions bag: 32, create 2 and sew together or see in the round info below
Scarf: 32 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments. Wide scarf: 60 Chains; Shawl: 88 chains
IN THE ROUND projects - Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video:
Slouchy Hat: 98 chains, in size 1 yarn with a 2.75mm hook
Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used and tension chain 84
Bag or Tote: 56 chains to 84 chains depending on desired size
Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 42 to 56 chains
You can create any project you like from Mosaic Crochet, these are just a few suggestions!
    Project info and starting:
To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 14 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 32 and had 31 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row.
TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 14 and slip stitch to the first chain. begin working the repeat in the first stitch [same stitch you slip stitches into) and follow the Repeat as given in the video.
Stitches used in this project: Back Loop Single Crochet and Front Loop Double Crochet (drop down double crochet as I like to call it).

A beautiful pattern! Thank you for this tutorial that made it easy for me to follow! I made a baby blanket for my grand nephew using the mosaic part as the top and bottom edges, plain HDCs for the body. And they loved it!
I'll be doing more Mosaics with your videos
    Again much thanks 🙏❤

This is a beautiful design. I was wondering in some of the box's patterns on video are very pretty. I was wondering if you could do some alternating designs ? I usually set up my own but I just thought I would ask because usually the purchase patterns you have the alternating design. Hope you get my thought's lol.

A beautiful pattern. Thank you!!! Do I work another row of sc to finish the product?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому

You can or you could also slip stitch after three last Row just to thicken up that final row so it's similar to the starting row. Hope this helps.

Hi Courtney! As usual I love your patterns! I have one question. When I do the pattern in rounds, do I still do the traditional single in the first and last round? Thank you!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  2 роки тому +1

Hi!! No you only work the repeat stitches, you no longer have the traditional sc or row ends to work, you carry your yarn up and switch each row as needed. Hope this heslps!! Thank you so much for your sweet compliments!

Hi Courtney. How are you? Sorry to bother you but i need your help again. Have you ever did mosaic stitch with letters. I need to do an S to go in a gift for my son. I would need a tutorial remember i have limited vision. Thanks in advance for any assistance

HI!!!! I'm great orher than internet being down! 🤣🤣 hope you are doing great too💙 Letters are something I have not tackled designing mostly because it's a can of worms type thing for UA-cam. Very specific to the project and size needed, combining together letters to go with the letter tutorials. 😅 I do know some other designers who have released patterns for mosaic lettering, perhaps they would be willing to film a tutorial for their pattern for the S you are needing. I'll definitely ask since they could maybe get it out faster since they have a pattern already. If I can't find anyone who will do a tutorial for you.......For me to help I'd need more details on what you are trying to do to see if it's something I can fit into a tutorial on here. If you can email me info I will also pass it on to my designer friends to see if they can help. Here is my email: fiberfoxstudios@gmail.com if you rather just reply here if it's easier you can and I will check as soon as I can to see if you have replied 😁 I'm hoping my modem will arrive by Wednesday so it doesn't take me so long to reply!
