The CHART for this is in my Etsy shop which you can find here, the PDF includes 7 versions of the design. 🎯ETSY SHOP: fiberfoxstudios.etsy.com/list...

Mosaic crochet is great for all skill levels and can be used to create many different things and suggestions for various projects are below.
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
Baby blanket: 116 chains depending on yarn size used
Place mats: 68 to 84 chains
Table Runner: 68 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
    Throw blanket : 164 chains
Tote or Throw Pillow: 68 chains depending on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together
Makeup or Notions bag: 36, create 2 and sew together or see in the round info below
Scarf: 36 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments.
    Shawl: 84 chains
IN THE ROUND- Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video IN THE ROUND IS WORKED IN THE MULTIPLEONLY, YOU DO NOT ADD 4 STITCHES TO CHAIN COUNT:
Makeup or Notions bag/ Clutch: 64 chains
Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used, tension and hook: chain 96
Cup Coozie or Candle band: 32 chains using size size 4 yarn is suggested
Bag or Tote: 128 chains for large tote/bag
Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 32 to 48 chains
You can create any project you like from Mosaic Crochet, these are just a few suggestions!
HOOK SIZE: I am using a G 4.5mm hook in this tutorial, this is a Nelsonwood hook, I am not affiliated or sponsored. Please visit their website for more information, www.nelsonwood.net
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
    3 DK yarn : 3.5mm to 4.5mm
    Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5.5mm.
    Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm
THE YARN: I'm using size 4 weight yarn, any brand will work as well as any size.
I Love This Yarn in Quarry Days & Prima Ballerina
The pink and blue sample shown is done in Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Colorway: Candied Orange and Red Heart Super Saver in Aruba
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
    Project info and starting:
To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 16 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 36 and had 35 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row.
TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 16 and slip stitch to the first chain. begin working the repeat in the first stitch [same stitch you slip stitches into) and follow the Repeat as given in the video.

I tried to make my own design because I really wanted to make a Paisley pattern and I failed so I am going to stick to following your clear instructions and winning for now.

Hi...love your mosaic crochet videos...could u suggest how we could make sweater or pullover with mosaic crochet patterns?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 роки тому +2

In the round is what I recommend for both of those projects. I have starting chain info for throw pillows down in the description. A sweater could be done in the round for the body and you could do the top part and sleeves in a solid yarn so you aren't trying to maintain the pattern while decreasing. Hope this helps and thank you!

I love this! But, is there any way to do this as an inset instead of overlay so there aren't all of those tails? The tails prevent me from even attempting overlay. I also don't like the flaps in the back but reverse or negative could solve that if I ever did decide to do overlay!

    • @FiberFoxStudios

Not from this tutorial, it would have to be redesigned in part to do that.
Tinna has a really pretty granny square Mosaic pattern called Hope, it's little hearts. She has a free tutorial on youtube and I think the pattern is also free on her Ravelry. Definitely recommend checking that out if you are looking for a mosaic heart granny square pattern. 💙🦊
