Editing a comment I made earlier -- Sorry if I was rude. This comment was made when I was frustrated in trying to download the free brushes. Yes, I paid $2.00 for these free brushes, but that was my choice to help support this channel, not because it was required. My problem with the download was operator error, nothing to do with the process. Once I calmed down and took a breath, everything worked well when I went back to try again. 17:34 i was actually given an art glove by a friend and it REALLY helped with this issue. i also like the two finger-undo gesture so the glove allowed me to use it without the screen getting confused and thinking i was trying to gesture. (one of those glossy-fabric gloves that only cover your wrist and pinkie and ring fingers, to be clear)
Thanks for the tips! I’ve spent my entire digital art career using paint tool sai, and in the past year I switched to procreate, and honestly I haven’t been drawing as much because I knew sai like the back of my hand. It’s taking me a while to get used to how lineart and coloring works in procreate.
Honestly line tools should now just auto vector so up scaling isn’t necessary. It’s such an obvious and easy fix but things like adobe illustrator make it look way more complex than it has to be. Like companies just need to create vector brush packs #its2020
@@erikleypoldt8275 in spite of the assertion of the original poster, I'm not convinced it _is_ all that straightforward to add vector brushes to a raster-based app.
Vector capable software is wildly difficult to create from a development standpoint, and is largely limited by hardware. It's unfortunately not as simple as just "adding a tool", it often requires a ton of restructuring behind-the-scenes, sometimes to the point of creating a whole other copy of the software. Not to say that it's impossible or that other software is neccessarily better for having it, but changing and adding tools after the fact is very difficult.

Basically a Technical Pensil brush with a sharp circle. I did it a couple of months ago, because I hated the blur on the regular Technical Pencil brush. Thanks for the bicubic tip!!

This video is a godsend!!! I was just looking at the interpolation choices this week and wondering how to find out what they meant!!! Thank you for making this video. I had been struggling with resolution as I tried to make files work across several different sizes of print supports such as paper (for greeting cards), direct to garment, and printing on phone cases, etc. It addresses several issues I have as I learn to create digital art for these various forms of printing. You are a very good teacher.
Well, I followed what you did here while watching this on my PC as I copied your actions on my new iPad, so I now already have my own copies of your very useful brushes. Thank you! As I am a 70-yr old hobbyist, I don't really need to get your complete starter set - but I downloaded it to my PC anyway, unzipped it, then hadn't a clue what it all meant and what I was supposed to do with it, so it's still sitting there, unused, untransferred to the iPad and - by now - forgotten. Thanks anyway... I think?
Steve Parkes download the brushes on your ipad not the computerDepending on where you get it from you should be able to just click on it and it would go to procreate otherwise you could look for tutorials there are plenty
I’ve been using Procreate since Procreate 2 and its transform tools actually weren’t destructive until Procreate 4. It was a problem that, rather than properly address, they decided to add the algorithms as workarounds instead.
I’ve been having troubles with wanting a lot of layers but also wanting Crisp lines and 300 dpi and 2000x2000 ya can’t have both so I need to learn how to not use a lot of layers
Canvas Size Examples card (at 2:08) has a typo, right? #2 Print should be 12" x 18" right? (It says 12" x 8"). 300dpi x 18" = 5400px. Just making sure that 300dpi really is the recommended dpi, not 450 which is what it would be if the print dimensions were 12"x8". Thank you for this video! I really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! Very informative and SUPER easy to follow! I look up so many procreate tutorials and most of them tell you the basics instead of how to tackle little details and nuances like sizing and printing. THANK YOU!
Is there a technique or calculator to work out which higher quality pixel size is best to work on? For example, if I want to print an 210mm x 255mm sized picture which is 2480 x 3012.. how do I determine a larger pixel size that is still high quality, but not so large that it doesn't allow many layers. Is 20% larger enough?
