I play Texture Coated heads on the batter and resonant side of my toms, and on my snare batter with a Classic Clear snare side. Aquarian is the top choice, hands down.
The TC series of drumheads is one of the easiest single-ply heads to tune because of the integrity of the Safe-t-Lok Hoop. Stays round and doesn't pull.
2112 Drums I suggest trying out a snare head. Go from there. I've tried Response 2's coated black on my toms, Super kick 1 (not a fan) snare drum I have a Hi-Velocity and Hi-Energy... Killer heads! The set-up Mike has on his kick is what I'm trying next. Super dope heads!
Brent McGuire ok. I will have to try them out! I'm going to hopefully build a 13" snare and I might have to get an Aquariun snare head for it. Thanks for the response!
These and the Texture Coated Power Dot are the best sounding snare heads I've ever heard and played. They also feel absolutely incredible. On toms I really like the Studio X for heavier music.
The whole point is that you can tailor your sound without having to replace the head. A drum mute or two on a single-ply does not translate to a double-ply head. Using one or two mutes on single-ply heads gives you a much different sound than double-ply heads, and it's really about what sound or feel you prefer. He also used coated resonant heads to tailor the sound further.

He is preaching & teaching the gospel truth here…
Thanks and Blessings Mike! I love various Aquarian Drum Heads, and I am missing Roy Burns, what a Great Man! Rest In Peace.......

Brent McGuire I'm thinking of making that switch...

Brent McGuire I will! The drum shell I am going to build it with is a 13x6.5 i think.

Great vid!
...I agree !
:24 so you preach single ply heads but cover them with drum mutes...

Would be nice to actually hear the heads and not just this guy talking
