In this example I prefer the Aquarian. The Remo C.S. I can usually get to sound really good, but I tune a bit higher. I don't really mess with Evans anymore.
Clear Controlled sound for me. All day long. Lovely attack, no need to worry about coating coming off (I use vintage emp coated on toms, coating no issue at all..) Just my opinion 👍
Drumhead choice is so important for crafting your own sound and your set up sounds super interesting I bet you get a great crack from the snare! (Theo)
@@Gear4musicdrums it’s lovely (on a steel snare) it’s got crack but also control because of the dot 👍 My wood snares do have ambassador coated, but will switch to clear CS at some point.. 👍
Funny how the snare always sounds very different when playing other parts of the kit with it then when in solo. I kinda suprised how good the Aquarian sounds. Normally I'd go for the remo classic CS
I still really like Remo, but Aquarian have won me over. I had a terrible situation when I was cutting a couple tracks and my Remo Coated C.S. started pulling from the hoop, unbeknownst to me - other than the terrible aound... The Aquarian sound the most balanced to my ears. They start off without so much of the annoying ringing and pinging that a Remo has naturally. The construction is rock solid. The feel from the film is lively and responsive. The coating is very durable, and resists chipping or wearing off. The Aquarian sound is what really won me over. Very clean, full, warm, broad, and sensitive. I love the amount of clarity in stick definition they have.
I started with Remo, 1995 to 2008. For my kick drums, Powerstroke 3s on the batter, Ambassadors for the resonate. The toms had clear Pinstripes on the batter, Ambassadors on the resonate. My snare, a coated Emperor with a Hazy on the snare side. I'm very, VERY happy I stopped using Remo. From 2008 to 2021, I used Evans. For my kicks, Emad2s on the batter and G1 clears for the resonate side. My snare, a coated Genera Dry on the batter and a 300 for the snare side. I used clear G2s on the batter and clear G1s as the resonate heads from 2008 to 2021. From 2021 to 2022, I switched to clear EC2s with Genera Resos. Evans were really nice heads, but I had this Aquarian itch I needed to scratch. I played on Aquarians one time a decade previously, and it stuck with me. I have a larger setup, so switching brands gets pricy.I have to wait for the right time. At the end of 2022, I switched to Aquarian. I currently have Super Kick 2s with black Regulator Ported resonate heads. I have Reflector Black Mirror batter heads and Classic Clear Resonates in Gloss Black. My snare has a Hi-Velocity Black Coated head and a Hi-Performance snare side resonate. Not only do my drums look extremely badass, they sound so much better. They are on the same price range as Remo and Evans, too, which is pretty amazing given the fact they sound and feel better than Evans. I can't even compare them to Remo. Using Remo again would be like duct taping plastic bags to my drums.
The Aquarian is nice and warm yet it seems like it would still cut through a mix

@@mrtc29 But black dot pieces coming off and stuck inside the snare drum.
@@ivanbajovic3476 really?
Never had that mate.. 🤷♂️
Aquarian for sure. Nice, throaty crack yet controlled

They’re all good. It’s like choosing a midrange to high-end kit these days. Having said that, I lean Evans.
The Aquarian head sounded the best on that snare drum.
Yes, Aquarian are superior to remo.....remo are terrible, i've had no end issues with them pulling from the rim.
Aquarian do make some incredible products, that's for sure!
