I highly doubt anyone that watched this was paying attention to you. They were more in awe of Dave’s rig not having one drop of oil, power steering fluid or anything on it 😂😂😂 that thing is supper clean!!!!
you should still add a skid plate to protect the oil pan. It's cast aluminum and if you are off-road and a rock hits it, you will be screwed in the middle of nowhere...
@@AstroVanTribe I will keep watching to see how it turns out. my 03 AWD is in need of NP233 and when looking at the S-10s the height of their system is tucked up much better than the Astros Perhaps this is part of the fix.
Tell him I said, "Hi" - Ask if he's looked at this video, I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it - The transmission mount will change, Dave just slapped that together to work the height out and to test drive the rig with the full 3" engine/trans lift
Interesting and for those that spent a whole bunch of time under these awd Astros… Maybe an aftermarket or fab rear differential skid plate that helps with harsh impacts yet can be bolted on and off starting slightly forward so a rock slides under the diff … ? Fun fact Took three others adults and 4 weekend bags in a Hardtop 86 samurai to Manhattan and back to Maryland at interstate 95 speeds 🆘🆘 The Sammy had optional deep mud mats I ended up removing the driver side as I had to gain every millimeter of gas pedal to carry 4 to nyc and back in winter Anybody that rode in that back seat can also relate 3+ hours each way The other couples full size bronco broke down the day of the trip so in minutes I realized the Sammy was option 2☠️
And definitely all reading are on borrowed time if off roading an Astro without some type of skid plate of significance that includes added or integrated spacers That cast aluminum pan is easily cracked and the removal is no fun assuming the motor is not a total loss
@@AstroVanTribe also this is a 4x4 conversion similar to the Quigley where you swapped in a front end and transfer case? That would definitely be more durable than the all-wheel drive system that the Astro has.
I am interested in getting my engine lifted. I have an '05 Astro 4x4 with polyurethane mounts and about 1/2 inch clearance between the oil pan and axle. 2" lift. Was really excited about seeing these brackets! How might I go about getting a set?
We're going through the motions, now - I'm going with 2" of lift on the engine - it's up to Dave whether or not he's up for making different size sets for people with different body lift heights/needs - they won't be inexpensive but are the best solution
Hello Michael I'm having the hardest time trying to buy an Chevy Astro van especially when my son see they ar 26 yrs old for $1000. I have $1500 to spend can I find one running? I need advice.
I don't know what to tell you, you tend to get what you pay for.... If you can find one for $1500 it's likely going to need a lot of work - Dave got his for "free" BUT he had to drive to Washington state to get it, flatbed it to SoCal, and has been doing all the work himself to get it to where it is right now

Love to See a Bundle Set! an 'Enging lift kit' (pre' welded' bcuz not every person welds') Transmission Lift kit' and Bolt on Top Axle Shock Mount kit' ( customer grinds off own oem' shock mounts) Bundle for $199.99 is that to much? to cheap? I dunno? Anyway - Life Changing Products' For Vaners' +All day long Sales! _ 'Can always dream right? 🛠
just through casually cross referencing part numbers it looks like a front diff drop might be doable if a person could source lift kit parts from s-10s, 1500s, suburbans... etc. when I have the time and money I really want to see where I could go with it.
Cool stuff Mike, Thanks
Keep the content coming MZ 🤙
Had a beat up gmc safari once Loved that little van I'm looking for another lol Gona head cross country in it
I've driven this one across the country and back 3 times and have done several long loops around the southwest
We are on an American road tour ,! On and offroad ,check us out

Ha, ha....! Yeah, a new engine because be busted his oil pan in Mojave :)
Agreed, I have a pressure washer and an outside lift so cleaning under it is easy. My van was leaking every fluid available when I got it.

I know... BUT now it's not as exposed, a skid plate is not juts a flat plate so it's pretty simple stuff

Damn it's clean under there,I wish I had a southern or California van
I got to send this to my dad's buddy art cuz he has recently got into the lifted Astro van thing
My ole man and I put built V-8 in an Astro van and was a hell of a van that would dust fox body's and go camping all in one trip😆
RIP Dad.

I've always wanted to build a lifted Astro all wheel drive for hunting and fishing trips.
After the lift and the 4x4 conversion thesecthingscare extremely capable off road

Looks like it will solve a bunch of problems .
How does it drive? Does it handle better going around curves or worse?
No difference
Dwayne 05. Sweet very nice i like the bumbers very nice mike.

That is awesome. I would like to do this on my 98 Tiger
Put me down for the 3” kit.
Are these engine mounts available yet?
