If you mean the video showing the kitten growing up to 1 year of age, then no. Yhis is that kittens mother.

So, what do you do if they turn into a flying rage demon when you try anything on their bottom half?

Little and often is key. The skin on the hind legs, rump and tummy areas is incredible sensitive so any pulling of the coat is likely to cause pain and an often vigorous reaction from the cat. If the hair is badly matted it is probably better to get it shaved off by either a vet or groomer experienced with cats, and start from scratch.

0:57 lol I feel like your cat is going look at the camera and say “ diabetus “
But how do you get yours so well trained my late cat never let pet her belly yet she would roll over by me exposing it then I go to pet her belly only to end up with scratches lol

This girl is normally quite sensitive about her tummy, but she was really good here. She must have known she was on camera 😄

Hi. Fellow persian owner here, noticed you skipped right past the rear legs once the cat showed they weren't up for it! Any tips? I find they hate having their rear legs pulled out so I can get into the bits that are hard to get a comb into.

Really it's just a case of doing a bit at a time and not letting it become a battle. It's better to wait several hours or until the next day to tackle the bit you had to skip because the cat had reached their tolerance level. Fern (the cat in the video) isn't the easiest cat to groom, so normally I'd do part of her in the morning then leave her to settle before finishing the job later in the afternoon.

    Hi Nicola,
I just got a British Longhair kitten. I would love to know how you start training him for brushing. Do you have tips and tricks for this? Thanks!

Ideally, the breeder will have started your kitten's education while he was with them, then all you need to do is just continue. Pick a time when he isn't feeling too playful, and start off with a comb. Gently comb his entire body, making sure you get right down through the fur to the skin. If he's still relaxed, finish off with a slicker brush. If he becomes agitated at any point or too playful, stop and give him time to settle down. It's better to give them a good experience when being groomed or it can become a battle which helps noone.
