We have a 14 pound moose of a cat (named Tiny). She thought the 5 pound teacup Yorkie we fostered needed to be stalked and swatted. We had to watch her close, he would tolerate her rolling him, though he would bark and make her back off. (Silly cat is used to bigger dogs).
"Is it going to peck me to death?"
Vannesa: "That's a dog". Ralph: "Sorry, lady. I've SEEN dogs before, that ain't no dog" .

I can tell you with 95% certainty it's neurological. While he is a very sweet and cute boy, I have to say I've worked with enough Persians with severely overbred features to be able to tell you that they often do not behave like normal cats and are literally mentally handicapped. The form of their nose bridge creates a dent in their skull which often prevents the brain from fully developing. This means stuff like forgetting how to eat properly, how to play properly, sleep behavior issues and - like here - head tilts or running in circles. They are also obviously very prone to eye infections or scratched cornea and often confused on how to interact with other cats.
There's a lot of people who say they're no different to a normal cat... but trust me, you notice if you decide to look.
This is not a jab at the owner! I don't know under what circumstances they got Ralph, maybe he's a rescue, maybe they're great owners who ethically adopt and care for Persians! They obviosly take great care of him!

I think most people know that flat faced cat and dog breeds have a myriad of health issues which are often neurological and respiratory in nature.
At this point I do think people just choose to ignore or accept this, but I've met a number of Persian cats and as a life long cat owner I totally agree with you, they're always off in some way.
I used to have a domestic rabbit who had head tilt from a brain parasite when he was a baby and Ralph did superficially remind me of him but to a much lesser degree. With Holly it was extremely obvious that he was quite "off" and the damage had both physical and mental consequences (he was incredibly stupid but very very sweet and loving, rabbits can be masters at holding grudges but he never really got mad at all), Ralph seems like whatever's going on is quite subtle in comparison but there's definitely something.

I used to raise and show Himalayan and Persian cats. They are a lot of work but wonderful pets. I quit raising them when the show standards became so ridiculous that they were breeding to create a cat with basically no nose. Their nonsense created terrible health problems for the cats.
I used to tell people who wanted to buy one of my kittens as a pet that they would need to comb the baby from the first day that they took it home even though they do not appear to need it. Kittens that are going to grow up to have a long thick coat need to be trained to accept daily grooming from the time that they are tiny kittens. If you wait to start grooming after the coat is grown in you are going to have problems. The cat will never t accept it. The painful mats that accumulate because of poor grooming practices are extremely difficult to get out and you don’t need to compound the problem with a panicked cat.
I always gave the new owner a couple of grooming tools….a metal comb and a pin brush…. to get started.
Thank you for keeping their health in mind. Tbh that's why I refuse to own any flat or smooshed face breed. Dog or cat. The health problems because the show world wants a certain aesthetic is absolutely ridiculous. Especially when they are supposed to be improving the breed with each generation. It just isn't happening.

@ibanezza6341 AKC is dogs only. It stands for American Kennel Club. Cat showing is usually done with CFA or Cat Fanciers Association. Honestly people should probably look into helping TNR places more than breeders right now with how overrun a lot of shelters are. I'll always support informed and health-conscious breeders, just not the show standards. I wish more looked into revert breeding for a healthier population.

I told the groomer at the vet that my kitty, Alex was a good boy at home. 45 minutes later I got an urgent call from the groomer, could they put Alex out? He was on top of a cabinet in the med room and couldn’t get him out….owners don’t really know. 😻

Did he just shout? That was unlike any cat meow I’ve ever heard.
My HS BF had a beautiful Persian (non-smushed face) that was stone deaf. She would meow but it sounded more like a scream. Her name was Schizty (skit-zee). They used to wake her up if they found her sleeping during the day so she wouldn’t scream/meow at night. Until I heard Ralph’s 2nd meow I wondered if he was deaf as well.
What?? Maxwell is still with you? So surprised! (NOT)... I can tell he has a future as your new shop assistant. Ralph was pretty well behaved overall, and looked beautiful as a result.

But if you put four of them together they still only equal one small dog.
She has a video with him on the other channel (called "This Dog Almost Made the Cameraman Quit"). In it she says he's a foster (but probably a foster fail). So, in short, yes.
