What do you guys think of this list and my thoughts on it?
It was honestly good but a bit to many 3d era characters were in delete
Some of his takes were okay but a few of them really read as someone who is an incredibly casual MK fan and look at something wrong with that not everybody is going to love everything or be familiar with everything but I feel like if you're making us like this you should at least attempt to familiarize yourself in some way with who each character is and how they may be important to the plot
I'd say it's amazing, Maximilian Dood is a good critique in my opinion.
But I would say, yes, a lot of characters need a rework. Also, they should definitely include realms like chaos, order, etc.

Honestly, he is criminally underrated. He is direct rival of havik and is literally a leader of a dictatorship and you can explore how orderrealm while being disguised as the perfect utopia but living in the realm is completely the opposite and fucked.
Could try to give him some character development with him accepting chaos as needed to further push his ideologies of orderrealm in more fucked up ways

Shang Tsung got erased from all existence in Fire God Liu Kang ending. So only chance is if his ending is canon.

People who don’t watch Max all the time won’t realize that he likes to pretend not to know who characters are or get things about them wrong to rile people up. You need to know that going in to his videos.
I think letting Raiden sit out on the main roster is a good idea. I first heard this when you were on the netherkast. His reveal trailer would be insane. It doesnt matter what order we get the characters as long as we get them. You guys also talked about kai and kung lao being the main hero's.

More ninjas, like Smoke, Reptile, Ermac, etc. Cyrax and Sektor would be cool too and I wouldnt mind seeing Tremor again. But if they are sticking with the Good ending in Aftermath it would be cool to see people like the Lin Kuei Grandmaster, King Jerrod, or Bi Han as Sub zero to switch things up.
Bo rai cho was literally one of the funnest characters of mkx and people hated he was dlc. I grew up on the 3d era games so I got hyped when I saw bo rai Cho as dlc

I liked Erron in MKX honesty. I liked the medium long hair he had and the " eyeshadow " he wore, it just made him look like a badass.

I think some of these 3D Era characters, or just some boring characters, that didn’t really get much depth in the one game they’re in, such as Ferra/Torr, or Darrius, should be given a second chance to try to rectify mistakes, or maybe give them some depth or something to make them more interesting and more beloved.
I think most 3D characters should be given a redemption instead of being condemned as irredeemable failures. Sadly folks think being underdeveloped is a valid reason to never bring them back which honestly seems pretty shallow of an argument since I think most of the NRS newcomers are also underdeveloped or jobbers.

I'd KILL for ferra/torr I loved their character design! I know it's not gonna happen because ferra is, apparently, a kameo but still man I'd love to see them playable in some form. Also meat. I want meat.

I was Soo Pissed they didn't give Shao Kahn his Green Projectile Blast. It would have been really cool if you were able to switch that was the Spear Throw.
I obviously like and follow you both but just in defensive Max, I think his viewpoint was almost completely based on gameplay and yours was more so on lore. At least according to your responses and his reasons given for why characters should or should not be in and I’m kind of somewhere in the middle. Kollector is a great example where design and story wise, he is cool as shit and such a MK looking ass character but gameplay wise, he just doesn’t make any sense so a character like that is the perfect example of someone who would rank really high on your list but really low on Max’s. I would love to see him back but completely redesign his gameplay. If you listen to the way he’s describing the characters, he is almost solely basing things off of gameplay and I would agree gameplay wise a lot of the characters he placed where they should be her not to mention that smoke, Ermac, reptile & the cyborgs are on top of the list

Honestly I agree with more of his takes than yours. Also bro we get it, you like 3D era characters. It doesn't mean that everyone is basic for not liking them because the large majority don't like them and for good reason. The 3D era almost completely destroyed the franchise.

I think under the right circumstance triborg can work but in the games it has to be done a very very specific way like in MKX the for variations did offer the gameplay differences of each of the cyborgs but if I remember correctly their personalities were not reflected if you could have selected the specific cyborg and their personality be reflected I think that would have been a lot better also I feel like the idea of the character can work in the universe as an evolution of the tekhunin evolving to be one collective mechanical consciousness no longer separated by any form of individuality becoming solely machine unfortunately we would have to sacrifice individual characters for this but I think maybe if this concept was used in a movie it could make a cool thing in the game's though the characters and the individuality is of those characters are far too important to be sacrificed in my opinion even if the gameplay possibilities are interesting
Yea I’m hoping we get smoke back on mk12 and I’m hoping this character roster turns out to be bigger but I’m also wondering what are they going to do to make it different as far as the fighting features to set it apart from mk11 🤔🤔🤔 I feel they need to add a destructive environment also bruises and body damage I’m trying to think of more at the moment

Ninjas are a must; Reptile, Ermac, Smoke, Tremor, and Noob hopefully makes it. Raiden should be made into an elemental guardian like Fujin. Liu kang can give him his lightning powers back. He wouldnt be as powerful but he would the lighting user of the game.

I was in that bad spot where I like Noob Saibot but really hated his game play in MK11. Speaking of character vs game play MK11 trashed most of the roster I’m a big Mileena fan but she’s another example of someone that played terribly. Also I’m a Dvorah player so I don’t understand or have any idea why she gets so much hate.

Triborg was Fun and he only takes 1 slot? If They put Cyrax/Sector and Cyber Smoke in! it should be DLC, therefore Saving base Roster Slot's to Character's that could potentially be cut because of this!
I'll be truthful, as a huge mk fan, Max's list was definitely not right, however triborge was a good decision.
They still felt individual enough, we got four characters out of it, took only one slot.
It's the same I wish they would do (since they came up with Cassie) either delete Cassi, or put her in the place of her parents since she's a two in one, once again, it opens more slots.
Triborge makes sense with the whole cyber initiative anyway, why wouldn't I just go ahead and make a bot containing the cyber ninjas abilities all in one?
Tbh, I grew up in the 3d era, but there was only a handful of "cool" or interesting characters. Most ppl have their nostalgia glasses. The reason a lot of ppl are mentioning them is because the ppl who grew up with them (like me) are now adults and are making content about how "THEYRE THE GREATEST AND NETHERREALM GAMES SUCK!" I can't wait in 2040 for ppl to say "Mk11 was hated on even tho it's the GREATEST MK GAME OF ALL TIME!"
Only difference is the 3D Era was good. It added a lot to the story and world of MK which is the most important as it's what sets MK apart from every other fighting game
@@connorharnage6697 Mk still has that! The story mode from mk vs dc and 9 is copied by other fighting games. And you can't lie and say mk9 didn't make mk mainstream again. Cuz i remember when the 3d games came out. A lot of ppl at the time said they weren't as good as the 2d era. Which I disagree, i think all of the MAIN line mk games have been great, can't wait for mk1.

Yea he was horrible from a competitive aspect. Noob just wasn’t capable of much in MK9 especially in comparison to some of the crazy shit characters like kabal or mileena could pull off. He basically had that 1 corner combo and that was the nuttiest he got in that game but I’m talking from a competitive aspect.

I feel Kai should be the new protagonist Li Mei could also be the secondary protagonist. So Lui Kang oversees, Fujin is Kai’s mentor. Now Kai maybe should be 2-3 years older than the Kimbat kids same with Li Mei maybe have them between the ages of 22 and 25. And rhe kombat kids are like 20 inbeliece in X.

I only watch Max sometimes, so I’m not sure, but does these corporations that make fighting games? Do they take him as the end all be all in opinions? another perception I have especially when it comes to Mortal Kombat is that he’s just a casual and it’s more about gameplay the lore. Because his reasoning for having characters, returning or not returning, came a very casual and sound like he doesn’t know th lote he just cares about gameplay. He’s doing the same thing with Tekken too. Matter fact Lui Kang takes his place because he has lightning powers, now alone with his fire powers, so what’s the point of Raiden especially with the way MK 11 story ended. He’s a NPC or DLC but I think he needs to sit out a game, Fujin takes ocer the Raiden role.

@@mikeval1525 I wouldn't say Nostalgia because besides the four or so new characters NRS gives us every game, the cast is almost entirely made up of MK 1-3 characters plus Quan Chi and Kenshi. So Nostalgia should be pretty equal there. Plus the 3D Era had the best story in the series which is what gives MK an identity when the gore wears out

It's not like they'll be better with that character since NRS changes the characters every single game so you're basically having to learn a new character each time. What's the harm in trying a new, interesting character?
