Candor is most helpful. hearing long hair 4C naturals say out right that we need to FAST from the hair styling shenanigans -- the wash n gos, the heat styling, the detangling to death, the not long term protective styling-- to get that golden length. Directness! Thanks for putting yourself out there because as you've said more 4C representation is needed when it comes to hair health/growth/length retention. I really enjoy your communication style and intellect too! Between you and Curly Chemistry I feel well-equipped to reach my hair goals :)
from all of my hair escapades and research I've done, I've concluded that there are two ever branching rules for long healthy hair.. and there can be so many different regiments that can achieve this. 1. Moisture 2. Gentleness Emphasis on the gentleness, low manipulation, mindful detangling ect. From every natural with long and healthy hair these two things seem to remain a consistent no matter the regiment and a bonus one 3. Stretching,, threaded, blow dried, twisted, plats, twist/braid out, ect.
I’m confused about what healthy type 4 hair looks like at the ENDS, particularly when stretched... My main issue preventing length is I always feel the need to cut when I see see-through ends, because I think it’s “damaged.” Even looking at your hair, for example, I would take off 3 inches. But I also hear that thinner ends is normal the longer your hair gets. Not sure if I’m brainwashed from the days I used to go to a stylist. I feel like I go through a mini big chop every other year because of this perspective and now I’m starting to constantly cut my daughter’s hair. Because your ends are see-through and you are obviously still retaining length, I would love your input on this!
My goodness!! I think stylists need to start using magnifying glass because I look at my own hair and my split ends are typically less than 1 cm but the recent stylist looked and said I need to cut maybe 3 inches. Bruh I already had my past shoulder length hair cut into a bob and has a chunk in the lefts side missing. I honestly never want anyone to cut/trim my hair again.
Really?! Somehow I had thought that all of my original audience interested in my life in Japan was gone now 😭 that would be so much fun to create. Thanks for letting me know; I will work on it!! 💕💕💕
If I had confidence in wearing my hair as is. I feel I might be able to get to waist length. Maybe its insecurity that because its short its not feminine enough. I think if i saw more black women wearing twists with their natural hair as a style id feel more confident. Definitely constantly feel like im constantly proving/ disproving something or representing/ not representing people who look like me. My hair breaks with extensions. I want to hide in clip ins but it may break my hair as well
Struggling with hair matting in twists/ braids as i require wash every two weeks but i want to keep my twists/ braids in for 2 months to reduce manipulation!
Hello, I am about to start heat training my hair bcause i experience a lot of single strands knots. Also I'll do your challenge this year, I'm at the same lenght for two years. Bring us more science prove things, healthy diet for hair growth, hormonal issue etc. That way every 4C can be included. From Haiti❤ God bless you
There’s no such thing as “heat trained” hair. That’s just a term TikTok made up for heat damaged hair that still looks presentable. Please focus on learning how to care for your hair in its natural, undamaged state.🙏🏾
I think a good topic to cover would be trimming the hair. How often do you trim yours and exactly what are you looking for when you do? Ladies are paying the price by letting someone else do their hair, and especially trim their ends. I haven’t been to a stylist since 2006. Now that I’m trying to get beyond bra strap length, I wouldn’t dream of it! 😅
My first question, who is your main demographic that watches your videos? I am 59 years old with ALOT of grey hair and for the most part I have successfully grown long hair. But there are ALOT of challenges for people with grey hair and women going through perimenopause and menopause. I have often thought of starting my own channel for women in my demographic but cannot stomach the time commitment needed to have a successful channel...YUK! So if you have a lot of older women watching your channel then addressing grey hair and hormonal changes that affect hair as we age would be a game changer. Not enough content that covers this demographic. 2. There are naturals that choose to color their hair which may cause damage there as well making their hair higher porosity which may require protein. Maybe content addressing that? 3. How does your hair look on the day to day? Give us a week of the real day to day maintenance of your long hair. 4. Do you work out? Do you swim? Do sweat a lot ? How does that impact your regimen and hair wash schedule? 5. How far have you stretched your wash days while protective styling? Washing mini twists over time sounds very scary and a nightmare to take down. Thanks so much in your genuine interest in our growth as well. :)
I'd love to hear content on how you maintain that dark colour hair; I prefer my hair on the darker side. I have a twa & I realize quite a few 4c long hair queens have a brownish/lighter coloured mane as they go along.
Hi sis, Most naturals switch from one product line to another product line, because someone on UA-cam or friends says this product line or DIY works for them so they switch to the other products n a fail happens . I use to be that living being. I have returned back to Ayurveda ingredients they work for my hair. I love Ayurvedic cleanser. I stop using shampoos. I cleanse n deep conditioner at one time. Most naturals do not focus on pH levels of the ingredients or products they are using. pH is soooo important. Love your UA-cam videos. Peace love light Ps Authentic Sheabutter my hair loves Sheabutter
@@nethaniapierre8149 Yes I know. At one point I did not focus on pH levels of my Ayurveda ingredients. It’s so important to know the pH of your products n DIY Ayurveda ingredients. Peace love light sis
Indeed. Ayurveda and shea butter are THE game changers for me and will stay in my regimen. Also Must haves are African black soap, glycerin and castor oil. Anything else just make me feel a little extra! 😅 I would like to try a clay wash one day though.
I don’t expect anything to be honest. I just posed the questions as she opened herself up to the 4c community. I am part of that community as well but don’t really expect a video on grey naturals but who knows? Maybe she has an interest to learn about it…,or not.
TL;DR folks: 1. Comment below the thing you believe would MOST help you (personally) reach your hair goals. 2. Drop ANY and ALL questions you have in the scope of natural hair in the comments.
1. I just want to get past my growth plateau and stop all the fairy knots. Especially when I do twist outs. I do want to get another person's perspective on my hair. I really like the 4c community idea, posting pictures of our hair and everything. As long as everyone is respectful. 2. How do you stop fairy knots? 😭. This issue besides my growth plateau irritates me the most lol.
@@nethaniapierre8149 I found fairy knots came from ingredients or at one time products I was using. The fairy knot is an indicator for me that my hair does not like a particular ingredient or product. Check the pH of your products or Ayurvedic ingredients.
Can you drop a tutorial on cute/feminine protective styles for 4c hair? Mini twists can be soooo cute but I’ve been masculinized while wearing them (my hair is about shoulder length) so now I constantly feel pressured to wear my hair out. My hair has experienced sooo much breakage as a result.
I think what would help me most is finding the best way to keep my hair moisturized between wash days i am very gentle with my hair i'm careful not to break it off every time I have a had a setback it was because for what ever reason i neglected moisturizing my hair I was doing so well a few months back... this last time I was doing your challenge and my hair was 3ins shy of waist length, and I had a local lady frm my island do my hair and she ripped it outtt and to add on to that I was swimming in salt water every day for a month and after I left my products got taken a TSA 😭 moreee neglect and lack of moistureeee so now i'm trying to build back Im not a 4c girly (my hair lies somewhere between @GARSHELL and @folahontas) but your tips have helped me a lot -especially the detangling under running water one-.
