There was many versions of minecraft that were just live updated, many of the developer builds were actually released but only for a very short time including a few minuets of being up. 12.0a was actually up for a few hours, which was live updated several times, and then bedrock was removed. 12a's water generation was acutally there for a long time, it was in 15 aswell. 14 was up for a while just hidden on the site notch allowed a few people to test it. Most of the updates of the game only lasted a few hours at best, there was so many updates and most did not have any notes as notch did live updates.I stopped playing once it went to infdev, and then came back in beta. Most of these early on players came from quake 3 areana players, cube2, and saurbratten players. If you were to spawn the ender dragon in the overworld, or glitch it into the nether which is still technically possible by running away from the ender dragon in the end and then falling off far away on multiplayer and dying with only 1 person in the end, 1 in the nether, and 1(atleast) in the overworld all around the same area then the ender dragon can possibly glitch through the dimensions trying to attack a player. On doing so in the nether it becomes very interesting as it will destroy every block that touches its hitboxes and 3 blocks outward from that, meaning the ender dragon will destroy your nether. If you spawn it in the overworld or get it into the overworld I have not been able to have it destroy it in modern versions. Notch kept messing with water generation and I was the only one on for several of the updates as notch would update well deep into the night 3am for me 7am for him sometimes pulling damn near 24+hrs on the game, I use to be on the game for 24+ hours looking for bugs and playing on the multiplayer when it was added. One of those updates were for sponge blocks and how they behaved with water. Notch at one point had a water sphere of blocks because of how the sponge block behaved he wanted it to erase blocks from water to air, at one point it deleted all blocks, at another point it created water blocks, at another point it destroyed all waterblocks but those that were inside the magintude, and at the final point it just deleted waterblocks inside the magintude but was very buggy. I spammed the hell out of sponge blocks and abused them heavily. I also built a house under the water and used sponge blocks to prevent water from coming in.If I remember correctly it actually broke the server and forced a physical restart for the server he had up.

The Minecraft community can do extraordinary things, even recreating long forgotten versions that were never meant to be released to public. I mean, how did they manage to recreate the insider developer version of the game? How did they manage to obtain or recreate the necessary textures, models, and the code that the version is compiled from? How did they manage to make it so perfectly fit with the little of available original resources? It never stops to amaze me. Not only this, but seeds reverse engineering is another most spectacular projects of Minecraft community. Where players around the world managed to find long forgotten seeds of famous worlds, and especially the Minecraft@Home project which introduced distributed computer power to crack and reverse engineer the seeds, they were able to find the original seed of the default resource pack's "pack.png" file - where team of developers created a machine learning algorithm and fed it original full resolution images of Minecraft worlds, and their downscaled counterparts for it to learn how the downscaled images should look like when upscaled, and managed to enlarge the pack.png file so it contained more details, which made it easier to reverse engineer the seed of this world, and eventually led to finding the seed. Not only that, the community even found the main menu world seed, the aquatic update world seed, and every other main menu world seed, including the latest one for 1.18, which turned out to be the original seed of the very first main menu world. That's a form of dedication to be honest :)
lost versions of games, audio, pictures, etc is really intriguing though, anything lost with 1 picture of evidence or media, let's just say the most mysterious song WHICH YOU CAN FIND ON UA-cam it has been archived but no one really knows who made it.
