40k Lion's Guard are not actually Marines, but regular humans (not even Astra) who decided to become the Primarch's "body guards". It's actually a fun idea and works well in the novel.

It would be hilarious if they actually became his actual lions guard replacing the marines.

I think that's what we all imagined when the box containing ''Lion's Guard'' was announced. They look fantastic, great work!
This is why I 3d Print. People can talk about GW quality all they like. But the hobby is about customization and creativity.
If I knew someone that had a 3D printer I would pay someone for these parts

@@thehammerofwrath GW has become very odd with the number of books they print. Why they could not release it as a soft back as well (other than greed) I will never know. I stumped for the audiobook as like you, I could not obtain the hardback either. The Cypher book is in an even worse state as you cannot obtain that at all except from resellers asking silly money :(.

That was a great kitbash, turned out fantastic! i love the Bladeguard kit🔥 GW dropped the ball on this, they should have at least made an upgrade sprue for the Bladeguard like the old DA veteran kit
Absolutely agree. I've painted 3 squads of normal BGV and I love the models, but this was a missed opportunity by GW for sure.

I was so proud of myself for giving mine terminator shields and hooded heads, but this BLOWS it out the water. Amazing.
Any customizing makes these models better! I was going to do the same as you until I discovered the Lion's Pride pack. I'm sure yours look cool too. I LOVE DA storm shields.

Yes I was very surprised that the Lion's Guard didnt even have an upgrade sprue to use with the Blade Guard. Loving those Lion shoulder pauldrons. They look incredible! I would love to see more storm shield variations for different chapters too. Hopefully we get more in the future.
Seems like a missed opportunity, right? Greytide Studio makes kits for many other SM chapters, including custom storm shields for each. Check them out!
That's just the primas "special" marines they just have a different paint job than normal and maybe some bits from the upgrade kit so the Lion guard, death company, and the space wolfs are all wasted potential for special units

I quite literally have been building a Redeemed Dark Angels Army based off this pack.
It's PERFECT for that.

These are awesome and maybe its just the camera but I feel like you need a slightly chunkier highlight on the armor.
yeah, I feel like I could have been a little less delicate with the dry brush that brought out the highlights.

A trick for keeping the super glue tubes good is to place them in a cup so they remain upright. I use the Duro tubes, and this works for me.

I feel like people can make far superior capes and tabbards with furs and hides in less time than a 3D print. The helmets, power units and shields look incredible 3D printed though.
I don't disagree, but that takes a very specific skills set many people do not posess!
Amazing kitbash and painting, those print lines on the bits drive me crazy though...
They actually look a lot better in person. I've been experimenting with settings to dial it in, but honestly they look bad because it's shot in 4K with a zoom lens! :)

This is crazy good, However im sure i read lore somewhere stating that the lions guards were indeed deathwing, Still i prefer this 100%

yeah, I feel you. I WANT to, but then I know it will bother me that they are a different scale than the rest of my Deathwing. Being slightly obsessive-compulsive is FUN!

thanks for the feedback. I'm experimenting with music beds, and sometimes the royalty free stuff is kinda all over the place, levels-wise.
Very cool. Do you thinks these parts would be printable without visible layer lines on a different printer? whats was the layer height you used?
I'm sure you could adjust the settings to make them considerably smoother. It's a bit of a mixed bag, as the parts are pre-supported, and some printed more smoothly than others. Also, I shoot in 4K so the camera is picking up a lot of the layer detail that isn't visible to the naked eye when holding the mini.
These lion guard aren't the original Dark Angels, these are the Lions saved, his first world when he woke. The mens who oath to stay by his side and a debt for saving them

It's not nearly as expensive or difficult as you might think. Check out of the first videos I ever did on beginning 3D printing!

Love the bits. But a little critique.. I think you need to dial in your printer or use AA. Or maybe try a selflevling primer or ak micro filler. or sth like that. .. The printlines visible in the video are a tad bit awful to look at in my opinion.
Or get a new printer with higher res.

Thanks. It actually looks a LOT worse on camera than it does in real life. It's a combination of my lighting setup and that I'm shooting with a zoom lens in 4K. To the naked eye, they're nearly invisible. I could certainly work to dial in the printer a little better. I have produced parts with no layer lines before.

it's just repetition. At this point in the hobby, I've painted over 1,000 models. You'll get there!
If you don't mind, can I recommend a Conversion of the Legion Praetor of Imperial fists sometime?
Personally, I saw your broadcast when I was struggling to convert the Power Armor Model and Terminator Model into the Minotaurs chapter. Awesome!
If you haven't decided on your next work, I recommend it carefully.
It would be very helpful if a craftsman like you could demonstrate the work.

@@thehammerofwrath I am trying to change two Legion Praetor models(Power armor/Terminator) of Imperial fists to Minotaurs concept.
Grind Legion symbol relief, add Minotaurs symbols, change colors, etc...
At the moment I was wondering if I could change it to be more Minotau-like, I saw this video. I was really impressed by the skill of the craftsman, so I only spoke about it once.
It would be really cool to see you do Rebotes honor guards with ultramar axes

Hey Trip, how long have you been living in Tokyo and how hard did you find it to learn Japanese? I tried in college and I struggled immensely (I had much less trouble with Chinese). I want to get into the tremendous world of Japanese RPGs and wargames, but I have trouble with remembering which hiragana are which.
I've lived here nearly three years, but have visited many times before I moved. My Japanese could be better, but it gets me by. If I actually studied it would be solid, but everything I've learned is just by daily immersion.

Do you mean build and paint these kitbashed guard as a commission? You can always purchase the STL pack from greytide studios - and if you don't have a 3D printer, several online makers are licensed to print the bits and mail them to you!

I've not been down there yet, but it's only a matter of time. I've been to most of the stores in the central tokyo area.

"Lion's Pride" STL... Whether they did it on purpose or not, those who picked a name have fit into a less-known Dark Angels name motif...

That STL pack is rather expensive
I believe it's only $50 on My mini factory. (not sure why it's $80 on cults)

Do they know how hard it is to find Inner Circle daggers? All astartes initiated into the Inner Circle are supposed to have one, but the only kit that has them was the now-discontinued Deathwing Terminator Command Squad.
That's a fair point, but a minor detail. Most don't even know the meaning of the knife, so they won't miss it on the minis. Tons of other great bits in the kit, though.

I've not had a close enough look at the new DA upgrade sprue included with Deathwing Assault. I wonder if there are any IC daggers on that. If GW has stopped making them available in any kit, perhaps they're no longer a thing in the lore.
@@thehammerofwrath there's a total of two in the new upgrade sprue, including the one fused to a terminator breastplate. I mean, that's actually an increase compared to the Primaris upgrade sprue which had none at all.
Good to know that they're there, but it's a shame there are only two...

The layer lines in the capes is a shame.
It's funny, there's something about my lighting setup / angle and the fact I'm shooting in 4K that make it look a LOT worse than it is. In person it's not really noticeable. I could always fiddle with the settings, but that's 3D printing for you; there's always something to adjust.

Just pauldrons, dude. Pauldrons only cover the shoulders. There's no knee pauldrons. Saying shoulder pauldrons is redundant.

$49???? If I wanted to overpay for models I'd just stick with GW.
I don't think that's too much to pay for great looking bits that you can print as much as you want. It's not like you're buying a single set.
@@thehammerofwrath Yeah, I buy plenty of STL's, including big bundles. They all let me print as much as I want, none of them charge anywhere NEAR $49. Too bad, I was excited to maybe get these until I saw the outrageous price.
Kitbashing? More like kit printing specific parts. No digging through bits and bit boxes at the store. Have to call it 3D printing customizing. No one can kit bash parts that need printing out on a 3D printer. Different verbs, techniques, resources. Labeling this kit bash is click bait
The models use several parts from the Dark Angels veterans sprue as well as 3D printed parts. And yes, using printed parts is kitbashing. Those parts come from a digital kit. If that term bothers you, I'm not sure what to tell you.
