Over the past 5-years the Council has acquired and boarded up over 1000 homes in regeneration areas and purchased 345 houses in other estates in Limerick city, county and other counties to relocate tenants and former home-owners. Most of these are elderly. Some problem families have also been displaced as the proposed location of new roads determines who gets moved. If you have a problem with your neighbours you can complain to the Tenants Enforcement Officer and the Gardaí like the rest of us.

These empty houses should be given to the homeless or people who are struggling to pay a mortgage

@dibble2005 This video was originally posted as a response to "The Message" by Grand Master Flash & The Furious 5 but the content was blocked. The idea was to dramatise the real situation that we live in to the style of the music video. Its an attempt to make the subject matter more engaging for a wider audience while commenting on the lack of Social Regeneration and proper Community policing in our area. At the end of "The Message" the band get arrested by cops that mistake them for a gang.

Where you have generational unemployment and educational disadvantage (we inherit our educational values from our parents) then such people are often referred to as the underclass. Their continued existence is ensured by the parasitic disadvantaged areas industry where €50k+ salaries (funded by the taxpayer) are paid to do-nothing community workers from outside the areas. Also funded by the taxpayer are the didn't-see-it Gardaí and the not-my-department official, now they'd be middleclass.

The majority of residents (90%) are home-owners, many are elderly and have long since finished paying their mortgage. The process of depopulation began with de-tenanting the area and boarding-up houses. The Council then waited for beleaguered home-owners to accept the €30,000 on offer for their homes. Ultimately, the plan was to run the area down by allowing anti-social and criminal behaviour to go unchallenged, grab the land for cheap and build over-priced box-houses for idiots like you to buy

Then what class are people who have never worked, never payed tax and get everything for free and are supposedly disadvantaged?

I hate to break it to you, but if your bursting your bollocks to pay a mortgage your not middle-class, your working-class with delusions of grandeur. Middle-class people have a tendency to live within their means. Your probably entitled to a medical card or at the very least a GP card - they're means tested, so check it out. Why not apply for council housing if your so hard pressed,
