Great to see limerick in the 80's.
Brilliant great to see these kids being so creative in the 80s in Limerick expressing themselves and great to hear the nice comments from the older folks
Brilliant
It's lovely how all the older people are so supportive. Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.
I'm from the UK and loved break dancing as a kid, great video, great history 😎👍
We used to do this back in the 90's on a bit of lino on the street. Same as the lads, we learned from a breakdancing tape. Learned all the classics, the 6 step, the windmill, etc.. I'd probably break my neck now if I tried. Lovely throwback.
I love these videos, and it's interesting to see one that takes me back to a place and time, my first year at Uni in Limerick around the time of filming.
Impressed, would have been too shy myself at that age!
Ha...Crazy that this was happening in cities across Europe almost identically yet very few of us were in contact with each other and too young to be aware of the bigger picture at the time...Like with graff there was virtually no media out there to show us how to do it we just did it organically after a tiny glimpse of what was happening in America....Great time to be a nipper.
4:06 is the most limerick thing ever, shouldering yer mate in the back to force him into the dance circle lol
These kids are good
Impressive!!
This is beyond adorable
Notice the 2 way drive on O Connell Street in the background which isn't the case today.
Oh this channel. How very good it is to be able to see all these things.
Wow that was me in the blue and grey
isnt that John Dillon talking
Do you remember the Shannon breakers Unique Technique i think they were called.
Shannon was full of breakers back then too and quite good.
I remember a huge dance off at tradaree flats.
Warm summers evening.
Another time there was a Limerick V's Shannon battle outside the Shannon Development building by kincora flats.
The gaurds dispersed us all and it was brilliant.
Great times
Love that!
Love it
This is so dope. Somebody teach them some footwork!!
deja vu
That looks like bongo from Kennedy park if l am right looked like he was being shocked 😊
At last a dance that suits young and old.
Rok Rok the planet rok...☘
Very cool. These kids must have spent hours studying videos of black kids in the States doing these moves, then even more time figuring out how to do it themselves. Wonder where they are now. They’ll all be in their late 40s or 50s.
They'd be mid 50's, hitting close to 60. This was almost 40 years ago.
@@AnGhaeilge I guess yeah. I was born in 1973. I’m 49. In my head these guys are the same age as me, but I guess they are a bit older. I was 11 in 1984. Most of these kids would be 15 or 16 or so, my brother’s age. So yeah, mid 50s. Not a massive difference :)
That's Limerick city
Limerick the real hood…
fuckin loved thay
That's what people used to do before they discovered brazilian jiu-jitsu.
A time when large pieces of cardboard were in high demand ...
I'm no Biologist, but fair play lads having equality before it was a cause..#girl #dance
Guys for the most part LOVED girls trying the same stuff they did. It was absolutely encouraged. Most girls simply didn't want to.
"the black ghettos" gas
When I read, “street dance,” I had no idea it was going to be about break dancing....some people would say your title was misleading on purpose. Believe me, I had too much of break dancing at the time, and have no interest in seeing it done on the Moon, let alone anywhere in Europe. Gag!
