Hey Nick! Are you still spinning Tuesday nights? I spin every Wednesday Night @7pm PST under www.twitch.tv/mistermekanix. Cheers for the great content!
I love the energy you bring. I just started my stream, and I’m going to look into a practical light. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this. Thanks for sharing the wisdom.
3:42.... As we approached the introduction of said, "practical light", I eagerly awaited the "importance of having your lampshade straightened".... But no luck. Great video!
Nice, I’ll definitely switch to 24 FPS after this. I agree on lighting. I’ve got a fancy fujifilm camera with a nice wide lens which helps make things all the more cinematic looking.. plus some nice color profiles to dial in a good look. Lighting is everything.
Great job on the video this is a good help a lot of people don't know that using a iPhone is much better then a high priced digital camera, I use a iPhone 12 pro max with my green screen and get great quality. Been taking your advice for over a year now please keep up the good work...
Which go pro we’re you using that causes those issues after a hour? I have the 9 and it can run directly into the Mac without a card….. just wanted to see if I need to but a capture card or not
Were using SwitcherStudio now, and iPhoneXR/12Pro for camera sources. we use it mainly for live streaming ceremonies, but it's killer for anything live, anywhere. The portability is what makes it so amazing.
Hey Nick, not sure if you will ever see this but im going to give it a shot, I cant not get he correct camera angel, would you mind telling me how far back and how high you have your center cam set, love that shot
Man I would have never put this much thought into lights... you are a brilliant guy... just giving solid game to the heathens! Love it bro! Your lighting IS great...your sound IS great! You're just a sharp dude. And again. LOVE that fkin T shirt... I am contemplating getting one and wearing it at least once a week! Lol... especially for when people ask me if I take requests...would love to be able to just point at my shirt and humble them without speaking lol.
What makes 24fps look more natural and cinematic is the motion blur. It’s my favorite setting. 60fps is best for filming sports and video games or green screen work where you don’t want the motion blur.
Thanks for the advice. I used to DJ in the 2000’s and slowly got away from it the last ten years or so and just got back into it. I have saved music on my iMac and a few crates of records but nothing new. I recently bought the numark scratch mixer. What do you recommend for getting music?
Hey Nick great tips, like yourself months ago updated lighting to 2 neewer lights with temp controls and even run them on my phone with their app, also use the rode broadcasting mic, my cam is the logitect which in obs allows zoon, pan and tilt since i use a green screen . Any way ,love the channel maybe ill catch u in AC for the show im there august 10th , take care
Seems easier to buy a touch screen monitor for half the price of an iPad that is also 2-4 times larger than the iPad. I like the idea of making use of the iPad you already have though. 👍 Still, an 11 inch iPad has about 51 square inches of viewable space. A tiny 15 inch touch screen has about 101 square inches of viewable space. A modest 20 inch screen has 171 square inches of viewable space.
Whats up Silkmaster4200! I want to say yes to the second part...only because I've seen Chris Villa (Twitch: djchrisvilla) he's always streaming on the weekends live from one of his residencies to Twitch! Although he never shows the crowd, still pretty dope to see how he balances both Virtual crowd and Live In-Person crowd.
I was originally researching new cameras with the latest autofocusing technology to beef up my live streams but found them to be too expensive. I took your advice and just kept fucking around til I found what works best for my setup. I now just duct tape my iPhone to my wife's head and have her follow me around everywhere...Thanks, Nick
Can you let us hear how those monitors sound? If not, do they have good low end, like can you actually hear the bass kickin? They look nice, I'm trying to find some that are clear & have good lows. Ive made the mistake buying a Bluetooth speaker to connect to my phone for regular use and man, it sucks! 🤣 First & Last time ill buy a speaker thats part of the Lighting Deals lol
You don’t want anything Bluetooth if you’re acting and reacting to the music in real time. You’re inviting a delay. There are a ton of great monitor speakers. Pioneer makes a great set for $150. KRK has some for $200. Presonus has a great set for $100. Be careful asking for a comparison. You’re limited by the microphone and the compression for UA-cam and the speakers you listen to it on. For sure use your best set of headphones to check out how things sound online. For when you’re in a small room you don’t need anything larger than 6 inch monitors. Realistically, 4 inch monitors would be fine. That’s basically what all the pros suggest. When you’re building out a $10,000 studio you can upgrade the speakers. When you’re just starting out you’ve got tons of options. Just don’t use a Bluetooth speaker.
awesome setup. thanks for all the advice. though your setup entirely within pro parameters, i personally have a few diffenreces of opinion. 1. i thought you were dropping frames at first but realized it was consistently dropping 6 frames per second or as you confirmed 24fps. i think it looks bad. maybe you’re doubling up the 24? like 24 on input and then 24 on output? it looks like more than one instance. 2. i don’t like your vocal mic/sound. i think it’s the mic because i don’t generally like Shure mics and think AudioTechnica and Sennheiser sound so much better in pure digital to digital recording. or it could be you’re EQing it more than necessary. it just sounds like the high end is very hyped - harsh, dull ‘s’es. 3. i think your wash/key lights are a bit high as well as your losing some contrast in your face. it’s washing out your details and you look a little too pink - but maybe that’s a Winter tan issue. anyway, i don’t think 99% of people would ever notice this - even after i brought it up - but these are things i think about and i thought as a friend you could now carry my burden, too. ;)
I like your set up, however all that money spent and your vlogs aren't color corrected. Do you use Adobe Premier or any other "non-free" software to edit with? Color correction means that when you change shots the colors/lighting are linear to the previous shot. (sorry bro, I used to work at CNN as an editor) Use the wave form monitor on your software because I know you're not a hack like most vloggers that use iMovie or some freebie garbage
Nick U know I love you, but I will comment about the mic. It's 6 to 1 bla bla bla but, you sound like a podcast instead of a dj/ club situation is the best way I can explain it. Maybe it's because I'm used to the way you have sounded for a long time, even watching your last video and the mic is picking up the ambiance of the room to me sounds a lot better. Perhaps you can EQ it to sound better, or maybe it's just the years of being in clubs and events and prefer that sound.. Also being a dj perhaps my ears are more refined than other viewers. Like I said you know I love you so take no offence. Just listen to this video and your last one and tell me what u think. Other than that learning all the fun things of twitch streaming, the video is on point. I've been using that capture card from the start and have had no issues at all, It's a VERY good recommendation for the $20!! Keep it coming!!!
Bro I completely agree. I love this mic for live streaming and I used it in this video just because I thought it would be cool to film the whole video with my twitch setup but I’m not switching to this mic for my regular videos... I will continue to rock my Rode shotgun that I’ve always used. Nothing beats that mic haha
@@NickSpinelli LOL That being said, I just ordered a lavalier mic to do my streams. Having to go over to the mic after reading the chat sux.... lol lets hope it sounds okay!! See ya Tuesday night.

Thanks bro. Also. Having a decent background is key. Seeing laundry everywhere behind you is not a good luck :(

Beautiful Movie Stars Of Yester-Year used window screens to film through to soften their Image,
Curious to know why you use a GoPro 7 to stream instead of your Camera you use for UA-cam?
Great advice. The iPad angled in front of the setup to monitor the chat and stream manager is really great.
Thanks for watching bro! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

That Frame Per Second point it super key. I learnt that the hard way.

What's Your Favorite Camera to Twitch for an Itch? go pro 7, yes
Dude, what's the best app for backgrounds? Plz help me bro.
The link to the cheap capture card isn’t working .. would you please tell me the name of the capture card ? Thanks

Is a Mac and PC setup ok ?
Bro. That fucking intro...and that T-Shirt... you had me at "A little over 4 months ago."
Thanks for simple explanation! Good speaker!
As always amazing input bro 💯

How's the mic for keeping out your monitor sound?
Really good with this! Forgot to mention it in the video but it is one of the reasons why I got it. Absolutely no issues with monitor sound.
add a LUTs filter if you can get the right lighting
Damn that new microphone sounds great Nick!

I have a dumb ass question lol. When night clubs are open. Can u twitch the same time with the crowd or just point the cams on gear and you only ? lol

Ahhh gotcha! Alright cool thanks man!
I have the Pioneer dm 40 mk1s
I'm going to try the 24fps. The 60 fps was taking me down. Thank you!
Yeah, you’re not exactly moving around a ton. A lower frame rate will be fine.
