I'm glad to see the true Mexico, and not the annoying "girlfriend tag " " winter haul " and stuff. I also like that you don't show your face. UA-cam has enough narcissism already. Saludos cordiales.
Showing your face as a host can mean a lot but as this guy seems to be documenting his experience and not himself experiencing it, what you say is pretty fair. There is a difference though. Many people enjoy seeing someone actually experience it but they have to have some kind of personality and respect to go with it. Somewhat like an Anthony Bourdain type of show. And it's not about youtube being flooded with narcissistic money grabbers but more that many people want to be famous and some people just want to have an audience to show their creative outputs and then there's the inbetween crowd of entertainers/performers and such.
The camote cart had me rolling. I grew up in the US, my family moved to Mexico when I was a teen and for the longest time, I didn't know what the hell that thing was or what they were selling, lol
I laughed my ass off when he played the junk sound, never thought an Englishman would pay attention to those sounds and actually adapt to them and personally, as a Mexican born and raised can't stand those sounds they park right outside my house making those annoying noises "se compran colchones, tambores, refrigeradores, estufas, lavadoras, microondas o algo de fierro viejo que venda" .
man your videos are freaking awesome! I found curious how a normal thing for us is rare for foreigners, thanks for show the world the true face of Mexico
Me too xD I was watching like: Ohh, you know? That makes sense. We live through all of these things and we never stop to think about them but they're things that to someone who isn't familiar with would be quite strange.
When i went to Mexico, seeing soldiers carring their weapons threw me off. I was a bit jumpy when i a saw a whole squad of guys walking in public with their guns. Which is ironic because i live in San Diego where there are a lot of military bases. Well, no soldiers ever carry any firearms outside the bases, so it was a bit of a culture shock to see people openly carry guns like that.
As a Mexican living in England I liked this video a lot because I know how it feels to be exposed to a new culture and lifestyle and have no clue what is going on. Respect man y Viva México Cabrones!!!
I heard England is having a problem with Muslims and other migrants. Es verda eso, oh estan edsagernado?
PANCHO VILLA they might be exaggerating. Other European countries such as Sweden DO have problems with the amount of immigrants getting in who are mainly Muslim refugees but as far as I’m aware it’s not as bad here as they say.
Por cierto me encanta UK 🇬🇧 I lived there 8 months.
Hey I just figured out of your channel I was born in Mexico City but moved to the us at the age of 10 and I just love your videos because it brings back good memories, I recommended your videos to my mother who is a Spanish teacher so she can show her students an actual view of Mexico City. Continue making great videos man :)
BTW can you please go to the ice cream shop, El portal del sabor it's near coyoacan market and aslo go eat tacos at El charco de Las ranas, you won't be disappointed they are honestly both great restaurants
Oh my, I just found out about your channel and I am having a blast. As a Mexican who grew up loving British sense of humour (Mr. Bean, Monty Python, and so many more) finding that sense of humour applied to my hometown is like the perfect sauce and taco combination haha. Love u already! Thanks so much.
My regards for you for being such a dedicated person and discover all those awesome things of Mexico respecting the culture and sharing your videos that are so beautiful, that unfortunately many people in the world do not know. Thank you and welcome to Mexico
I really like your videos because the people who are not from México may know the TrueMéxico. If you let me ask you a few question. 1.- which are your favorite mexican food? 2.- I know this question maybe has nothing relative with your channel but i have to ask. Did you watch Coco the movie? And if you watch what do you think about it like an english guy? Do you think that movie like other country citizen? Grettings! I am practice my english. Sorry if i am not express my ideas very well or for my bad english. XD
I grew up in Mexico City and migrated to California when I was 9. I truly enjoy your videos, they bring so much nostalgia. I am so proud of my city and all the wonders that it has. Thank you for sharing your perspective, it is always so respectful and positive.
RythmBoy if you're in a heavily Mexican or Latino populated area like a major city you'll find it. It's a common paleta flavor where I live (southern California). By far my favorite :)
Never crossed my mind to call it a sweet brown avocado but I guess you are very accurate. It is sweet, it is somehow heavy (if you know what I mean and not buy weight) and has a big ass seed in the middle lol I never really liked it when I was younger until my mom made me an ultra kick ass mamey smoothie, freaking love it now!
They're found all over South Florida, frozen, fresh and canned. I saw a few sapote trees and all. Filipinos call it sapota and they sell it canned in Asian markets.
Hello Paul, I got a suggestion. Have you considered adding spanish subtitles to your videos? Now don't get me wrong, I love the quality of your videos and enjoy them because I fully understand english, but most mexicans don't. And I think mexicans are your target audience, so I thought maybe editing in spanish subtitles and using spanish video titles could help your channel. I want to see it grow, you deserve it. I want you to be able to explore all of Mexico and share with us your opinion. You know we mexicans love to see a foreigner enjoy our country. Anyways, great video as always, I just watched it and I'm eager for a new one.
Thanks amigo! Spanish subtitles appear a few days after the upload, sometimes the same day. There is subscriber who always translates them and also some others who help.
I remember another street sound. The people that sold gas. They would yell: "EL GAAAAAAAAAAASAAAASSS! EL GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS! Then you would have to go out and ask for a tank of gas. Also the guys who collect the trash would ring a bell and you had to go out and hand over your trash
Thank you for taking me back to Mexico...Everything you showed here is totally True...I am from United States and lived the last 5 years in Guadalajara Mexico and now that I am back in Las Vegas, I must say that I freaking Miss Mexico, its people, its food and those strange noises of "Tamales! Tamales! or Elotes Elotes!!" in the street! Those were good days...
My biggest reverse culture shock in Mexico is entering stores and having the shop owners do their very best to avoid you and having no greetings/or greeters and giving you a lot of space.. they will only talk to you if you go up to them and ask, they won't chase you around the store.. IDK if anyone else relates?? Specifically in Northern Mexico .. Some places will even have people out there to open doors for you, but still, very quiet. I don't mind it though. It's a less annoying shopping experience..
Even for me, a native mexican citizen now living in the United States, it's hard to get back to the whole kissing on the cheek when saying hello and goodbye. I have been living in the US for more than 10 years now and have come accustomed to the wider personal space and low physical contact of this country. So when I see family in Mexico it feels uncomfortable to airkiss everybody.
OGM I just got a wicked flash back of nostalgia, growing up in Texcoco Mexico stay, and moving to Canadá when I was 19 Man i forgot a lot of what Mexico really is like Thank you for making this videos and noticed all the minimal things that make Mexico so special and different
Mexico city is so awesome, easily top 5 cities in Latin America, maybe top 3. I have never been to Rio, but Mexico City, Medellín, and Buenos Aires are my favorites. Good video man, great images and I can relate to that socially awkward feeling!
Definitely Michoacan! Carnitas and I'm sure so much more. I'll be making a video about future plans for True Mexico. Obviously I want to film all over Mexico and I'm sure you guys want to see it too. But for that to happen I need support.
Amigo Paul (and I mean amigo because, even if I don't know you, I'm a huge fan of your work in this channel, and I consider you an amigo of Mexico) I really hope you can make videos of other cities, I'll support you as soon as I can. A hug from a mexican in Brazil.
That would be awesome. On the high end is 10 dollars which is obviously very generous. Most people donate around 5 dollars, but then there patrons donating like 3 or even 1. Every bit counts! I will be making a video about it quite soon. I think everyone here would love to see me make videos all over Mexico and if another people donate even small amounts the numbers add up fast and I'll be able to do it. I know some creators on Patreon give special access to other stuff depending on donation amount. If you have ideas let me know!
One thing you forgot, the smell of Mexico. But not in a bad way. It's the smell of wet dirt and fire as it's common for households to burn their little scraps of trash late at night. Good video very acurate
Pobre Viajando personally I love the fact that he is not here for the fame and glory. He seems like a really decent guy, but saying that I always keep an eye out on my travels hahaha.
South and central mexico is a whole different country from northern mexico. Northern would be like texas and central/south would be like new york in term of how people act and beliefs.
hahahaha, I'm a mexican guy and this was very funy for me. hahahaha, specially the sounds that you said that were new for you. Any way, your video was cool. Saludos!
I had not been to Mexico for about 17 years but I finally went to visit family and I felt like I could relate to almost everything in this video! Thanks for sharing!
I stumbled across your channel and I'm loving it, like someone down below mentioned, I like the fact that you don't show your face, makes one focus on your content more than the hosts looks or annoying demeanor. I love your since of humor man keep them coming. Saludos From Hawaii
Wait! wait! Cheese ice cream, OMG. PD. I want to make clear that I said it in a positive way, I want to try it, it would be something. O]nly 1 person got it, but it deleted his/her response.
"my tummy rumbles"- Paul 2017 Jajaja that was so cute! This video was amazing, i don't know why we love to hear the things that are strange for foreigners (no sé si eso está bien escrito) Oh boy! The señor camotero, when my sister and I were little we'd wait for the camotero, hunter him so we could ask "can we make the sound?". Didn't leave him alone for weeks until he said yes! Jajaja
Ja, I was actually considering finding one for this video and ringing it for you guys. I ran out of time but in a future video, in a street snack time part, I really want to do it!
That's exactly what I've been thinking about for a while. Pescaditos is pretty much the same as the UK one, just in the UK they leave the fish big. If I asked the vendor here I am sure he would find a large piece and then it will look totally the same.
My man Paul! Mamey is the shit!!! 💚 You are my favourite mexicanized Brit!! Yeah, guns are commonly carried by private security people in shopping malls. Actually, I was staring at one and I was surprised how I never noticed how intimidating they look.
even tho I'm Mexican I don't like the whole hug and air kiss but i still do it only with my relatives, but with coworkers or friends I don't, they maybe think that I'm rude since I just use my hand to wave goodbye to them and that's all😂
sookie I agree. I am Mexican-American and am comfortable embracing and kissing (on the cheek only) my relatives and good friends. However, I notice that more and more (gringo) Americans are hugging, too. I don't know what to think about that. Times are changing for sure.
Ja! Ja! I remember la primera time one of mis primos brought una novia gringa a la casa de mi tía para la nochebuena. She was only halfway through meeting la familia (about 50 of us) when mi primo realized she was overwhelmed. He rescued her from the rest of the family showing their hospitality. Quite a few years later en la nochebuena, she & two other gringas who had married into la famiia made their "true confessions" to mis primas y yo. These chicas were still overwhelmed by the plenty affectionate greetings. It was a surprise to us but after hearing this, las primas would stand aside & let them be greeted by los tios y los primos. & everyone was happy : )
Amazing job man! As a Mexican living in Europe for more than 2 years now you almost made me cry. Thank you and keep enoying and showng our lovely culture!
True Mexico Oh I know! I saw it when you made it because I have been a fan for over a year! I was thinking you were going to cover other places. Even so, I insist, your vids are simply great!
Completely agree with you. I started watching this video because I work near where you started filming. And as a Mexican I hadn't realized how normal are those things to me. I never thought they were strange al all! Good work!! I'm sharing this with my english studying group :)
Part of the year I go live on the coast of Michoacan and this is definately metropolitan. People in Michoacan get up at 5:30am, go to work at 6:00am (Sun-up), go to lunch at 10:00am to 11:00am and work til about 4:00pm or 5:00pm. I've never seen tacos like those on your videos. We usually have home-made tortillas, home-made cheese, ALWAYS HOT CHILI of course, and meet products usually just rib-eye steak, chicken products, and maybe if we get lucky and find an iguana nearby we skin it and barbacue it. Tamales are always for fiesta days and our refreshments are cold TUBA (Coconut tree juice), and a frozen Paleta or ice-cream popsicle. Metropolitan Mexico is very different than the rest of Mexico. GOOD JOB! As a Mexican I learned alot too.
Do you live in Mexico City? It doesn't rain 250 days a year, no way! And all the stats show around 60-70. But yeah, in those summer rainy season months you get these grey clouds a lot, and it can actually get quite cool.
yes I do, haha maybe it's an overstatement tied to the fact that I've lived here all my life. But it does rain pretty frequent, and maybe blame it on global warming but the rainy season gets longer and longer. I dont know, man. Maybe I need to live somewhere else for me to start to appreciating the weather.
This year the rainy season was awful, much worse than previous years. So I see your frustration! Sometimes I wish CDMX was at the same altitude as Cuernavaca as it's a bit warmer.
Hola Paul: ) I recomend the cheese ice cream too it's sweet and delicious like mamey one, you seem to get used easily to all these México things and you look to keep your british essense aswell, by the way: will we meet you soon finally? I mean that you show your face at least once so I have the pleasure? 😃thumbs up hasta luego : D
Oh I really loved the street sounds part! There are also the ringing bells from the trash truck or the smaller bells from the ice cream bike thingies too. I love those.
I am a native American and I appreciate this video so much, cause show to the world how the real Mexico is ...I am from near to the border and I have a lot's of friends, good people from the other side of the border GOD BLESS MEXICO!!
I'm not good enought in english but I understood the most of the video. The tacos are one of my favorite dishes too. I hope you can enjoy Mexico and if you come to Guadalajara don't forget to try the pozole, tortas ahogadas, barbacoa and jericallas. You'll love it I sure know. Nice video man 👍
I'm glad to see the true Mexico, and not the annoying "girlfriend tag " " winter haul " and stuff. I also like that you don't show your face. UA-cam has enough narcissism already. Saludos cordiales.
Thanks for that. One reason I don't show my face is exactly what you said about narcissism on UA-cam.
Zehila chill you have like one video and it's your face to the camera. Hypocrite and Narcissist to add to your portfolio.
Thank you for letting me know. All students in my class had to make such videos for our career portfolios.I thought I deleted all of them.
True." para gustos los colores".Thank you.
I died in the "Se compran estufas, colchones..." part jajajajajajajaja. It definitely has to be strange for a foreigner the first few times.
Ja, yeah it was!
¡Lo mismo me pasó a mí! jajaja
The camote cart had me rolling. I grew up in the US, my family moved to Mexico when I was a teen and for the longest time, I didn't know what the hell that thing was or what they were selling, lol
Hahaha i died too
And it was kind of embarrassing 😂
thanks for the respect to my country
My pleasure.
i second that
Mexicans are real nice people but if go fuck with them , they go into warrior class !
Where were you? It says Tepepan I am mexican too

Jahaziel Martinez lol time to get the Japanese to make anime about Mexico 😂😂😂

Mexico city is so awesome, easily top 5 cities in Latin America, maybe top 3. I have never been to Rio, but Mexico City, Medellín, and Buenos Aires are my favorites. Good video man, great images and I can relate to that socially awkward feeling!
Thanks a lot!!!
Omg I love this. i love how every time he has to say some in Spanish he gets it right.
:D
You’re amazing Paul🙌🏻❤️
Hope you enjoyed the video! JOIN My Personal Blog (Patreon): www.patreon.com/truemexico
True Mexico, hey, I want to help you. What would be a suggested monthly amount per subscriber. I know, "whatever u can afford".
But I need an idea.
Y el panadero con el pan?
Hey man, I am a Mexican guy from Jalisco, maybe in the future you can come to Guadalajara. I love your channel and videos.
One thing you forgot, the smell of Mexico. But not in a bad way. It's the smell of wet dirt and fire as it's common for households to burn their little scraps of trash late at night. Good video very acurate
Love it!!! Esperemos que algún día reveles tu personalidad 👌🏻✅
yo nunca lo eh visto :/
ProfesorFeliz no nunca
Hey, i love this channel man! You are an awesome guy, mandame saludos!! Hope to see you recoding someday in México city, ur face is a Mistery!
Pobre Viajando personally I love the fact that he is not here for the fame and glory. He seems like a really decent guy, but saying that I always keep an eye out on my travels hahaha.
Pobre Viajando, mistery is a component of his channel.
Leave it like that TM.
Efe Te 100% agree.
Tio Paul llegué temprano mándeme saludos 🙌🏻
Hola mijo!
+True Mexico jajajajaja
All i mean all of your videos are awesome man i really get to see my culture and my people in the rawest best way only you can show!!👏
South and central mexico is a whole different country from northern mexico. Northern would be like texas and central/south would be like new york in term of how people act and beliefs.
Saludos paul! Ya extrañaba tus videos
Hola!
I loved the nuns eating tacos! XD
Ja, thanks, I was like... I have to get this scene.
True Mexico one could say those tacos were...... Divine *ba dum tsss*
Greatest TM video so far!! Excelent work, keep going!
beautiful work brother...cheers from tijuana !
Thank you!! Saludos desde CDMX!
That taco looks like heaven mate!
It was!!! Although opinion is divided. There are those who love this food... others who just think it's going to kill you because it's street food.
hahahaha, I'm a mexican guy and this was very funy for me. hahahaha, specially the sounds that you said that were new for you. Any way, your video was cool. Saludos!
Happy you enjoyed it!
I see this video get into youtube trends :)
That would be rather nice if it did :)
Thanks for bringing back such wonderful nostalgia with the street sounds! I lived in Mexico City when I was younger and I miss it very much!!
I had not been to Mexico for about 17 years but I finally went to visit family and I felt like I could relate to almost everything in this video! Thanks for sharing!
CAMPECHANO: bisteck and longaniza 'taco'
A classic here!
Yumm yumm!
Street sounds! hahaha!! You killed me with that one man!! xD
Yeah, this is my loved and beatiful México! :)
Great reportage.
Eduardo Romero D Beef steak,si quieres escribirlo modo gringo lol
Someday I want to move to Mexico because of the great prices and awesome people and food.
It's funny that things I don't even notice anymore were a surprise for you jahaha.
Lol. You’re so good at this Paul! Btw, the street sounds section was very funny🤣🤣🤣
Before being judgmental, think cheesecake and not sandwich slice cheese. Hope that helped.
I want to try it also.
I agree i have never even heard of it, strange but i too would like a taste
"my tummy rumbles"- Paul 2017
Jajaja that was so cute! This video was amazing, i don't know why we love to hear the things that are strange for foreigners (no sé si eso está bien escrito)
Oh boy!
+True Mexico thank you for not putting the problem with public transport
Good thing here is that you can get in the street the mexican verison of fish 'n' chips: get some pescaditos and an order of papas fritas.
That's exactly what I've been thinking about for a while. Pescaditos is pretty much the same as the UK one, just in the UK they leave the fish big. If I asked the vendor here I am sure he would find a large piece and then it will look totally the same.
LOLOL the street sounds section was hilarious. Awesome videos man, keep up with the great work.
Thanks!
Great video mate!
My man Paul! Mamey is the shit!!! 💚 You are my favourite mexicanized Brit!! Yeah, guns are commonly carried by private security people in shopping malls. Actually, I was staring at one and I was surprised how I never noticed how intimidating they look.
Ja, thanks! Yeah as I said in the video, they were intimidating at first. Still can be but I am used to them.
even tho I'm Mexican I don't like the whole hug and air kiss but i still do it only with my relatives, but with coworkers or friends I don't, they maybe think that I'm rude since I just use my hand to wave goodbye to them and that's all😂
sookie I agree. I am Mexican-American and am comfortable embracing and kissing (on the cheek only) my relatives and good friends. However, I notice that more and more (gringo) Americans are hugging, too. I don't know what to think about that. Times are changing for sure.
Ja, great to read that comment! Yes I know so many Mexicans find some Mexican things uncomfortable too.
Ja!
: D
Olivia Gomez THAT'S FULL MEXICAN THING NOT MEXICAN AMERICAN THANKS
Wow, kudos, Its like you are knowing true and real México! Felicitaciones!

True Mexico Oh I know! I saw it when you made it because I have been a fan for over a year! I was thinking you were going to cover other places. Even so, I insist, your vids are simply great!
Kaarajann IT'S NOT CALL DAY OF THE DEATH BECAUSE THE RIGHT TRANSLATION IS DAY OF THE DEATH PEOPLE BIG DEFERENCE .
Paul if you want to try some good tacos like those go to Plaza Universidad, outside the Banamex bank. Their Avocado green sauce is amazing.
Thanks amigo. I think I know where you mean, yes they are good and had them a few times It's where loads of people sit on the wall right?
True Mexico Exactly, right there. Glad you liked them too. I love your channel man, keep that quality!!!
Tus videos son los mejores 👍👍👍
👍👍👍
I can only partially agree with the weather, at least in Mexico City. It rains 250 days a year and you get a grey sky all summer
BillyPilgrim man that has to be depressing? Any studies of the impact on heath or mental state?
When i was little i used to be scared of the sweet potato seller sound jajajajaja
Cool! Im on my 2nd year in MX and im adjusting to the "different things" perfectly. Good luck and keep enjoying MX!
Great video man. I live in Mexico I hope you upload more videos like this.
Yes, I have tried that. Very tasty! As I have said before I like my channel just the way it is, although who knows one day 😃
It's always nice to hear these. Culture clash!
Also, 1:47 wow...!
Excelent video
Oh I really loved the street sounds part! There are also the ringing bells from the trash truck or the smaller bells from the ice cream bike thingies too. I love those.
