I used to have a thick piece of wood I got from a shipper, it was about 5inches in height the same width of the 5th wheel plate & it had a rubber bottom. Whenever I’d run into a trailer drop too high (usually loaded). Dump the bags & place the wood on the 5th wheel rubber side down then fill the bags up. It should raise enough to crank legs up easy.a couple turns in high then drop your bags and remove wood. Fill your bags again and it’ll be a perfect fit to proceed to coupling . Ps keep plenty of 5th wheel grease
I’m dedicated out of Charlotte, NC. It’s our biggest pet-peeve when drivers don’t leave that little gap between the Sand-shoe and the ground. I’ve had the pin in the landing gear shaft snap lowering the landing gear. For all drivers, if you see a yard jockey, ask if they can lift the trailer if you are feeling the gear slip. 9 times out of 10 they will help you out.
Leaving a gap between the sandshoe and the ground can result in a trailer laying on it's nose. When that much weight is put on the legs and slams down, it could end bad.
Adam Vediz 😂😂 I left that there. Did it have a bungee wrapped around the middle bar ? I picked that up broken and had to use a bungee hook to raise both sides. Told TMC it needed fixed. Guess they didn’t get it done.
Could you back under with the king pin on the fifthwheel plate to lift it to take some weight off the trailer... just be careful not to go to far... You could probably get 4 inches.. probably be best to have a spotter...
We are running into this problem more since TMC changed the dropping procedure I believe. The way we as trainers were taught isn't the way that the new trainees are being taught. Good Video though I hope Tod sees what we are dealing with on a regular.
@@truckeraxelmunoz4939 I did also but some other trainers aren't doing it. I'm making the move to Owner Operator. Keep training brother. People learn from your videos more than you think.

I still teach my trainees not to drop them all the way

Its probably not company policy but lay a piece of wood down on each side and back up on it. Shorten the distance between truck and trailer
I tried with a 4x4 didn't work it will work if you are in cement
You have an email I can get in contact with you want some information on TMC
