As a Shanghainese born and raised for 20 years until I came to US, I felt sooo much for the food you showed in this video. They are all my favorite I grew up with. Thanks for sharing with us and in the upcoming trip to NY I will definitely visit this place!
thanks for turning me on to chinese black vinegar, amazing stuff. the hot oil I found was just flred pepper flakes immersed in oil. perhaps if it was strained I'd like it better but then again I don't eat oil anymore anyway. thanks again for the black vinegar tip.
Great video and sweet having Grace and her sister in the videos. You really need to bring them both along from now on. Everyone's going to be expecting them in future videos or you best mention why they are not with you. Three times the ratings which two twins agreeing with you is always better than just one funny guy! Everyone here watching could taste every bite that the twins stuck in there mouths. ha ha ha.
Your videos always make me hungry af. So this time I felt smart eating a big pizza before watching this. Now my stomach is bursting but I'm super hungry the same time. :-(
I'm diggin' this concept you've got going! It's definitely getting you more views! Good food and gorgeous company!! Keep the female guests stars coming!!
As someone with celiac disease, that first dish is my kryptonite. :| Then again.. Most Chinese food is. But I still watch Mike's videos, cause he's awesome! :)
Mike, you never disappoint! I'm gonna stop by this place when I get to NY. And, I'm with you, I made your chili oil and I put that on everything.....yuuuuuuum
Lucky girls!! What a feast to dine on !!! You're my kind of man !! I love a man who loves to eat !! hehehe !! My grandson is older than you , I think !!
Shanghai restaurants next door I'm excited I like their lamp hot pot and sea cucumber tofu soup it's amazing flavorful than American chinese restaurants
Shanghai people normally like small wonton more than these big wontons. Small wonton with tender skin and a little bit of pork inside. That lion head originated from Huaiyang cuisine. Shanghai ppl like to cook it with sugar. Huaiyang cuisine put it in soup with other stuff like bamboo shoots and bok-choy. The meatball itself is supposed to be half lean half fat and mixed with egg, shrimp, and crab butter. Another Shanghai dish you should try is squirrel-shaped Mandarin fish The fish is super tender with crispy skin and sweet and sour source. Strictly saying, it's not from Shanghai cuisine but Suzhou cuisine, which is very sweet as well. The sad thing is I have never tried a good one of this outside of Shanghai and Jiangsu. Not sure if there is any restaurant in NY that can cook this well.
I have to spend a week with Mike some time just trying all the best food in NYC. You can't really get authentic Chinese food in Sweden, except for very few places.
I would love to see what a real balanced meal would be like. I have been reading Fushia Dunlop's books and everything seems so meat heavy. This is also banquet style dining. I don't think I could eat like this too often. Could you put together a show which talks about the way people really eat in China? I have been so grateful for the tours that you do. It is helping me see what dishes should look like as I cook. When I lived in Korea, every day food seemed very focused on vegetables in the banchan. Is China like that? When I visited China all they served us was lao wei food at government approved eateries. It was good, but I felt that I was missing out on the real way people eat. I would love to spend some time cooking in the country with a friendly auntie to teach me. Thank you for all your hard work and great food.
I would probably love this since I like sweet flavor a with meat but I do also like spicy and l❤️ve dumplings I have never had spicy dumplings and I see you get it in a lot of your videos I just wish her where I live I could find it closer I think San fran is the closest place to authentic foods
I've had lion before. Carnivore tends to be very gamey and bitter, and big cats especially. My dad used to go to a specialty game food store very frequently, and bring home unusual meats. He'd cook them for dinner, and not tell us until we'd eaten it. The game store had a lot of imported meat, brought from preserves in Africa that raise the animals specifically for food. It's how they keep the population stable, but it makes getting some of the meats very uncommon. They never used illegal or poached meat, just deliberately raised animals. But they did raise them in a large, very wild and natural preserve. I've had the aforementioned lion, antelope, rhino, venison, beaver, Rocky Mountain oysters, yak, elk, moose, mountain goat, rattlesnake, and bear. I'm probably leaving some out. I miss some of them a lot -- yak, elk, bear, and beaver are especially tasty.
Okay Mike, I respect your palette game, but I've got to say that from all your videos so far, for my taste, Shanghai food seems to be my favorite Chinese.
As a Shanghainese born and raised for 20 years until I came to US, I felt sooo much for the food you showed in this video. They are all my favorite I grew up with. Thanks for sharing with us and in the upcoming trip to NY I will definitely visit this place!
Mike and his babes. Mike is a genius. Every man loves food and women and he has made a living from featuring the beauty of both.
I so wish I was at the table with you guys.

+Shanice Brown give me the meat ball
me three. i am hungry!
confiscator had I been there there would've been no food for them left😂

did you see his eyes light up when the words hot oil was mentioned? LMAO
I remember trying Hong Shao Rou with fresh mint in Yunnan. It looked weird to have mint in a Hong Shao dish, but it worked surprisingly well!

Love watching you eat with friends. Especially the pretty girls!
my family uses cabbage with the Braised Meat balls
This is making me want to seek some of this out here in Dallas! (Minus the two gorgeous Korean girls on this end, of course.)
You should do eating challenges like 50 soup dumplings in 20 mins or something! That would be AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Bruh. That pork belly dish. Did not know it was Shanghainese. I love that dish!!!
Yes! Exactly that dish
Take a shot every time Christine says "That's so tender".
looks like home. ... i miss shanghainese cooking ...
It would be nice if you gave us the name and address of the restaurants you visit!

Okay Mike, I respect your palette game, but I've got to say that from all your videos so far, for my taste, Shanghai food seems to be my favorite Chinese.
Man those girls are so gorgeous.
Also so outgoing, usually his friends are so shy and demure! Very fun!
The Girl who likes to eat is Real👍❤️
