- Hello again and thank you for watching our latest episode on the restoration of the 1980 Suzuki FZ50. Watch me continue with the struggle of seized bolts and other problems along the way.
Take care, Jeff
This series is great, I am restoring an FZ-50 right now. Invaluable advice.
Hi Ryan, it's great to hear that you are restoring a FZ-50 and that the video has helped. I'm not sure if you know, but unfortunately I lost the FZ-50 in a shed fire last June. I did make a video on the fire, but I don't like to watch it. I'm up and running again now with a couple of French mopeds, but would like to do another FZ-50 again sometime. It was a lovely smooth ride.
Take care, Jeff
You have got patients of a saint if it was me i would have scrapped it long ago great job Jeff 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Alan, you wouldn't have seen much patience trying to remove those 10 bolts for 2 hours. It nearly did go for scrap.
Take care, Jeff
Wow! That was difficult.
Your patience is amazing.
Thanks Phil, I did lose my patience on that one
Take care, Jeff

Take care, Jeff

Hello again Jeff very interesting and helpful video great to see the inside of the transmission i dont plan on going near that the more i watch you work on your bike the more i feel i can succeed with mine looking forward to the next one take care.
Thanks Tony, yes the gearbox is a lovely piece of Japanese engineering. To be honest the gearbox is a bit over my head, but all the gears and clutches look good.
If I can help in any way with yours please don't hesitate to ask.
As I said before I am no expert, each scooter or moped I restore is a learning curve for me.
Take care, Jeff
You got there in the end Jeff, what a stubborn thing that was .but looks good now
All the best Martin 👍
Thanks Martin, hopefully the last of the engine unit goes better.
Take care, Jeff
That fought you all the way Jeff. I'm familiar with that myself lol
Those 10 bolts nearly killed me. It's so frustrating when you don't have much time and spend two hours getting them out.
Take care, Jeff

Hi Pro, you don't think orange with a black rim.
Take care, Jeff

@@vintagemopeds2767 Thanks Pro, I'll add it to the list, mind you you're the only idea so far. Lol
Hard to believe that tiny piston can carry a person or two
Absolutely Todd
Hello! I’ve been rebuilding my FZ50 and ran into an issue. The replacement piston doesn’t fit in the cylinder head. Do you have any links/recommendations on where to get one? I got mine from Partzilla. Item number is
12100-35611-050.
For more info, the new one’s width is 41.50mm and the old on is 41.00mm
Hi Jacob, are you in the US?
@@DiecastPowderCoating yes sir I am.
I got my Piston on eBay, they had a range of sizes. If I was in the US, I would give Treatland a go, they have a large range of moped spaces.
