Seeing you brake into the apex of a turn, at decent speed, with snow on the ground, going downhill, towing load, onto a narrow bridge is what sold me. If you have the confidence to do that, then I have the confidence to buy them!
I've run these same tires for 12 months / 20k miles...best tires I've ever had both on and off-road, period...spectacular performance in every condition. Quiet on the roads and look great too.
That is nice to hear that you like the AT3. When working on developing the AT3, our goal was to get improved all around performance over the AT2 and I think we did a pretty good job improving the areas that were lacking. I personally like the smooth linear yaw feel and overall balance front to rear, especially in limit conditions. 👍
@@sanddrifterjb Interesting, thanks for the info. It looks like people rate the tire higher in icy conditions when reading reviews. Pretty important factor for me in the PNW.
@@Eastahtata I spent a lot of time evaluating the Toyo AT3 in these winter conditions. We tested in 20 below in West Yellowstone on a perfectly groomed test track. It was clear how well the AT3 did among the competitors and honestly I am a BFG guy since I raced foe them for years. Anyway, Traction was good but what really stood out was how liner and responsive the turn -in and understeer / oversteer reacted. Driving in the ice and snow is no joke, I can tell you I wouldn't put my wife on a set of K02's in the snow but Cooper and Toyo did well. Cheers!
WE INSTALLED 6 TOYO OPEN COUNTRY AT3 ON OUR 2021 RAM 3500 LIMITED DUALLY . LT 35X12.5 R18 ABSOLUTELY AWESOME IN THE UTAH SNOW OF THE WASATCH MOUNTAINS 500 PLUS INCHES . BEST AT TIRE ON THE MARKET FOR SNOW PERIOD . THIS TIRE IS FAR BETTER THAN ANY WINTER TIRE ON THE MARKET FOR THIS SIZE.
12,300 miles on mine so far. Tundra crewcab 4x4. They're the best tires I've ever had. Mountain roads, steep incline in a snow storm...got me up and down safely.
Couldn't be happier with my 35x12.50 Toyo AT3s. In below 0° on snow they're fantastic. Mine have 18k miles, rotated every 4k, wearing evenly, about 90% tread.
This father and sons dual is great! Your attention to detail and unbiased reviews is greatly appreciated. As for tires, they are so subjective. Depending how the driver use them; towing and how heavy and often, off-roading, daily commuter, snow, rain, dry/hot climates, etc. For a half ton truck, these Toyo AT3(295/70R18) has been great thus far. Jury still out as I am nearing 5k with mine in all winter conditions, if they are the best(previously used Michelin LTX AT2, Nitto G2 and Ridge Grappler, Yokohama Geo 15 and X-AT, Copper AT3, Les Schwab Open Range, and Falken Wildpeak AT3W), the Toyo AT3 has been nothing short of amazing, especially in stop and go in snow. Appreciate the review and many more to come!
3:27 Its September 2023 and I looked in your video library, and did not see a follow up 1-2 years later (maybe your releasing it next week?) Out here in the Canadian Rockies, myself Thanks for making a video
I put a set of the Toyo AT 3 on my 4 Runner and a set of the Wildpeak AT3 on my Tacoma. They are both great tires but IMO the Toyos have a better ride to them and a bit more grip in the snow. They are both quiet on the highway. I have had the Toyos for about 5k miles now and so far they have been great. BTW - love the channel, you guys are awesome. I look forward to all the new content you guys are putting out.
Battleborn, have you had your Toyos in the mud yet? I am deciding between those and Coopers for my 4Runner but really want to know how they are in mud.
Was gassing up today and told the owner of the garage I was thinking of buying some General Grabbers and he recommended these and I value his opinion so here I am! Thanks for the review.
I put these AT3s on my Highlander AWD and coming from street tires they are awesome in the mud, went from getting stuck to not even spinning a tire, still slips and slides in the messy mud but I doubt mud tires would stop that. So far I am impressed with them my mpg did drop about 2mpg but for off road traction thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
The comment about whether you would spend your hard earned money on something is why I subscribe to your channel. I don’t want to just watch a 10 minute commercial or infomercial.. I want honest opinions good or bad. Well done.
Toyo makes great rubber. Most recently, I had a set of all-weather Toyo Celsius tires and was througly impressed with how well they handled in the snow.
Great review! I’m guessing the safety aspect goes without saying. I have a set of dedicated winter tires/rims on my light duty truck but I see everyone running a good set of all weather AT tires everywhere I go. Looks like this is the way to go now with tire tech being so good and able to offer a tire that almost does everything. Keep pumping out the videos. Very educational and appreciated.
I have the same tires on our 2022 Jeep Cherokee and I love them and not to mention the stopping distance at high speeds in the snow it’s truly amazing and I’ve been a semi truck driver for 28 years all kinds of weather. Get the Toyo it’s truly amazing
I fitted them to my weekend toy Suzuki Jimny and could not be happier. Super quiet, comfortable, very good on and off road. Much cheaper than competition and looking fantastic.
One thing to consider, winter gas (you said you put these tires on in November) has always resulted in me using 1L/100km more and I have run 3 sets of ko2’s year round on 4runner, Tacoma and tundra. Let us know if you see the return of your 1L/100km this spring/summer. That Cummins, IMO wouldn’t care about such a small change such as these tires.
@@TruckKing I had the same thought, winter diesel gives me less mpgs. I replaced another name brand AT on my pickup, a different brand 3/4 ton diesel, and I picked up about a half mpg improvement, from 19.5 to 20.1 on flat cruise control highway running, but I did not count on that, probably pure luck. Maybe, the squarish and staggered tread shoulder clears your fenders a bit compared to how round shoulder highway tread often has a narrower contact patch, for mud slinging? Also, Toyo claims the AT3 to be a good stone ejector and I have found that to generally be true. On a side note, these have been some of the smoothest rolling and easiest to balance AT tires I have ever had, that's probably pure luck too, but I always use ATs, never highways or MTs. I got mine on late last summer, so probably not much longer than yours, haven't got to my second five thousand mile rotation so far. I drive a fair amount of gravel and muddy roads, but don't do recreational off roading, for me there is no noticable tread chunking. I probably have similar winter conditions as you, and these have been my highest confidence year round tires in snow and ice. Thanks for the review.
Have had these on my truck since 2020. About 8-7/32 tread now. 285x70r17. They’re starting to break traction with very little gas on wet roads. Was going up a steeper grade wet road to a shopping center parking lot and had to stop for a vehicle turning, easing into the pedal knowing they break traction easily now, they still broke loose and starting fish tailing the truck. Temperature was in the 40s that day. Just my experience as the tread is older and less now. Truck is a 1500 crewcab Silverado. Hilly/mountain driving.
2014 Ram 2500. 305/55-20 Open Country AT3's. Had first set last 65,000 miles. Just put on same exact ones last week. Best all around truck tires I've ever owned.
I've got these on my Tacoma and they're loving the Maine winter! I was between these and Grabber ATX and went with these because they're much lighter and I didn't want to lose too many MPG's.
@@larryzapotocky1363 Traded in the Tacoma shortly after this. They are great, though. My buddy has them on his Tacoma and he likes too climb up snowy mountain trails that have broken a few Chevys.
Have the AT2's on my Rebel, they are quiet, smooth, wear evenly 36k miles and still look new but in the rain they are horrendous. Good in the mud and offroad but near dangerous on a wet road. Will consider the AT3's though
On toyos website they show the very noticeable difference in wet conditions from the at2. If they are to be believed you should be fine. I plan on getting these tires in may
I just got a set of these tires for an awesome price. They were on the bottom of my list but the current discounts/rebates moved them to the top. Glad to hear you guys like them
I have these tires, took them on a trip and they perform well. A dedicated mud tire will perform better off road and obviously a pure highway tire will give you better mileage on the highway but if your like me you only run one set of tires, these are great. Great for wet and snow conditions and great in summer part time off roading.
I was already planning on getting a set of these soon, for a new Ram 1500 Classic, good to know they’re all they’re said to be, and good in winter weather too. Thanks guys!
I have 8k on them now and they’ve been simply fantastic. But they are a passenger tire. I’m moving up to 35” x 12.5 now and hoping the E rated tires are still quiet and ride nice. Will be interesting to see and feel the difference between the two.
Had great success with Cooper Discoverer AT3’s on my Tacoma (ten ply load range E version). 90,000 km and still 6 mm of depth left. Slippery on wet grass though and easy to spin on wet pavement. And ice... noooo. Guess they are hard as rock.
Good to know. The coopers were the ones I wanted until a tire shop highly recommended the toyos. Guess I’ll be calling them to order before everything is back ordered
I own a 2021 3500 H/O SRW and Run the AT3's as well. I went to a larger size over stock I am running a 34.5 on an 18 inch rim, that was the largest I was able to run on the stock rim with out rubbing. I have notices my Fuel economy did go down, they are definitely quiet for an all train it s very nice, the do great for me on hard pack rocky roads. They do great in the rain and I have nit been able to run them in the snow yet. I have ran Toyo Tires for over 15 years and love em. I have had great experiences with their tires. ran their mudders, Road Terains, and now AT3's.
Put these on my Single Cab Tacoma 4x4 Manual in a 265/65/17 config. they grip like a SOB. Can't brake them loose anymore even in the Snow and moderate Ice. I now have less situations when I need 4WD enabled.
Just put a set on my 2011 F250 to replace my worn KO2's... They look and handle great, and at least for now I am thinking they are going to be a great tire!!! My BFG's worked really well while they lasted, but the tread life left a lot to be desired. Hopefully I get better tread life with the new AT3's.
I have had the Toyo 2's and RT's, BFG's, Terra and Ridge Grapplers, and now I am on Yoko X-AT's. Performing excellent slightly louder than the BFG's and on par with the Ridge Grapplers but wearing better. Very pleased to date with 0ver 20k miles on them. They are on a 20-F250 7.3 so I slightly hear the tires vs the noise from my Powerstrokes. I will try these 3's next. Always searching for the perfect tire.
great video guys! just got another set for my truck ! i think these are the BEST A/T tires period!! and i think most agree with alot of reviews i see...
Nice tires ! I'll check them out next time I'm shopping for tires . Btw @00:57 see that yellow circle stamped on the side wall ? That's supposed to be lined up with the valve stem of the wheel for optimal balancing . Who ever installed your tires is a rookie !
A year later.....how they doing? Looking at putting these on my old 03 Ford F150 that I use as a daily and also for ice fishing, hauling my boat, etc. Looking at getting a set of LT's for it, I like the 10ply tires, they last longer, and seem to hold up to daily driving a lot better than P--rated tires.
I've tried a few AT tires on my half ton... BFGs,Duratracs,Toyo Extremes to name a few. I dont buy any now unless they have the snowflake rating as I live in Alberta and keep them on year round. The Duratracs are my current favorite....little noisy on highway but awesome traction for my hunting n fishing needs. I do alot of gravel too and they are holding up better than the BFGs did in that regard.
I sold tires for 15 years. The latter of those 15 years, I sold Toyo LT and passenger tires. Good tires in terms of durability, but anybody will be hard pressed to average more than 25k miles on a set of LT tires. Few customers ever reached more than 40k miles. This includes the AT2 Open Country. These tires were warranted for 50k miles.
My last 2 sets on both a 2000 Silverado 4x4 and a 2005 Chevy Tahoe Z71 had to be tread wear warrantied at 30,000. Alignments checked multiple times and both rotated every 3,000 miles. Dealer said they've been very inconsistent on good wear vs bad wear.
I got close to 5000 miles on mine I live in coal country in va... so alot of gravel roads hills 4000 feet an I drive from va to tn 120 miles just to see a city lol...they are wearing great. Glad u like them I got a set of 285... they was a tad noisy but not the 265
Can you guys provide any more info about how good or not good AT3's grip is on snow and ice? I guess if they had poor performance on snow/ice you would have made a comment about it in the video, but you also didn't include anything about there grip in snow as part of one of your positive comments about the tire either, so you kind of left out that information all together. Just curious about specifically the tires snow performance?
I have a 2013 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition, and in late December replaced the OE model Bridgestone Dueler HT with a set of stock size (P rated) General Grabber ATX. I'm mostly happy with them. They have a nice ride, and they're very quiet. I was expecting a little bit of noise, but was surprised that it's not there, even at 70 mph. The only real drawback is that I've lost about 2 to 2.5 MPG with them. I expected a slight loss because they're more aggressive than the stock tires, but with the weight being pretty similar I did not expect that big of a difference. I also noticed a little bit of a power loss, it now wants to downshift a little bit sooner whatever I hit any type of grade or need to accelerate. That's probably another factor in dropping my mileage so much. I think if I were to do it again I would go with something less aggressive, such as the Continental TerraincmContact AT or Cooper AT34S. I don't really off-road that often, so I probably don't need a tire as aggressive as the ATX. I had just read a lot of good reviews on it, I really liked the look, and they were a good value.
My 2020 Ram 1500 has the Offroad Package, so it came stock with Falken Wildpeak AT3's. I think the Wildpeaks are great and I'm glad to see that Ram has realized that if you have an offroad package, you need offroad tires. I do like the Toyo's you just showcased, and when its time to replace my tires, I will certainly take a closer look at them. Thanks for the good honest review. And I agree, the road noise needs to be non-existent for me as well.
Great review, when I purchased my used 2018 Toyota 4runner trd off road last September, I was told by my mechanic I needed new tires, so requested the new Toyo Open country at3 hut he fold me that they weren't available in Canada until Feb 2021, so went with Cooper AT3 4s instead. But now I know that when my Coopers bite the dust I will get a set of Toyo's to replace them...
@@Hocky_World hi there, they are awesome, I have them on my 03 Ford Explorer and my 2018 Toyota 4runner. They are very good in the winter. I have had dedicated winter tires before but when I retired I went for all weather tires and I haven't regretted the decision... you won't be disappointed...
I'm pretty close to you in Brampton. I bought a Ram 1500 Hemi in November. Came with Falken Wildpeaks. Same class of tire as your Toyos. I have 3500kms on mine. I'm very happy with the Wildpeaks. Great in the snow and ice and rain. Quiet on the road. We'll see how they age but if they continue to impress me then I will stick with the Wildpeaks. If you guys want to check out my truck for your show let me know. I'd be happy to meet up with you so you can check out my truck... masks and physical distancing of course. It's a nice trim, a North Edition so it has some extra goodies on it from the factory.
I’ve been running a the new Toyo R/T trail and it is just M/S rated not the 3 pick snow flake rated. But it does very good in snow and ice even in 10° and colder temperatures. And there is a little bit more louder than an all-terrain, but not bad. And win I had the all-terrain tires with the three peak mountain snowflake symbol. I have a lot of Chungking of my tread on my tires. Yes they were not Toyos but the R/T trails really give me the best of both worlds. And the tire is very similar wight to the all-terrains.
I have had the same at2 for 10 years I got them because I kept getting flats in the oil field from the sharp rocks and I noticed at2 did not go flat and I have never had any problems in any weather. These are supposed to be better and I was just trying to decide between this and toyo celsius. I tried all the other tires like Yokohama, cooper's, Michelin, Goodrich and a few other and they all suck on ice and snow. So I'm coming back to toyo either these at3 or celcius. I wish you all added traction, speed and take off reviews though.
I hear you about road noise it tends to be high on my list. That shoulder looks interesting on that tire and a good warranty well that is a plus. I am looking into tires for next year....I will check them out
Morning Howard!! The only truck tires I had were off 70s Wrecker..the old knobby tires..used them on my 78'Olds..they threw off my fuel gauge reading..car looked jakked up at the back😎This was 2000'
The tires affect the fuel economy, sure. But if you switched to these tires on November like you said there are also the winter conditions to take into account. At least to my experience the fuel economy is always worse during the winter, espicially if you have to start the engine without preheating it first.
I'm on my second set of Toyo Open Country MTs 35s (lifted 2012 Silverado Duramax). The MTs are great when new, but once they wear down the highway noise can become annoying on longer highway trips. I've been eyeing the AT3s since last year, and plan to replace the MTs with that AT3s in the fall. BTW-I concur your wheels and color combo on the Ram 2500 looks great!
Man your comment is spot on. I’ve got open country MTs on duramax they start out great and once they loose half the tread they get sooooo loud that’s why I’m watching the video about road noise
I personally bought a set of five back in March (US resident) and even through the harsh winter they perform great just as they said no road noise and will certainly buy another set when the set has ran its course
Ive got the at2s and pretty happy. Ive driven in all sorts of conditions including minus 35 weather, they wear pretty decent. The only fault I felt was no snowflake yes they are M&S and have not let me down, but on hwy I felt at times on the coq thru to Alberta the snowflake would have made a little less slip in that 0 DEGREE weather.
I bought these tires the second day they were out last year. My long-term opinion is highly favorable. The only thing I haven't experienced is snow. Otherwise, they are amazing, on and off-road. I run 35/12.50/R17.
Great AT tire, performs very well in Chicago winters and never had any issues on very light off road. My only issue is they really get loud 25k and now even louder at 40k. I get AT tires tend to get noisier as the mileage increases but after watching every review prior to purchasing majority expressed they were quite, this was disappointing. Due for a new set, any suggestions for something quieter?
I put on my leveled 2011 Ram sport 1500. 285/60/20. Had Since October 2020. They outshine the ko2 in every way. My only complaint would be that they grab gravel, but they rock. They work good in the snow!
@@Humborg1 Thanks! I just put the same size on my 14 ram 1500 and they float on the highway. Still trying to dial in the psi. I'll drop them down some more. Running around 43. I'm hoping they just need some break in.
Thanks for the review! These AT3s will be my next tire. I'm currently running Goodyear Duratracs and( 40 000km on them) had BFG KO2 before than (50 000km). The Goodyears are better offroad especially in mud, they are wearing better than the KO2, but Duratrac is extremely loud. This new Toyo I have high hopes for.
This is old but still good info. I have ran three sets of these tires. Had them on a 14 tahoe, 99 durango, and my 73 dodge power wagon. I have found these to be the best tires I have ever ran. Snow performance is absolutely great. I live in Colorado at 6000 feet and we get a good amount of snow. That tahoe I had I never had to even have it in 4 wheel or 4 auto. It's a great tire. I'm needing tires on my 17 power wagon now and even though they aren't a super aggressive sidewall I will still go for these tires. I bought the truck with Cooper at3's and in my experience these are absolute junk. Terrible in the snow for me. Almost slid into a 3rd gen dodge in the elementary school parking lot last year going maybe 2 miles an hour and 4 wheel drive. I will never buy cooper's again.
Have you guys had a chance to review/test the Continental Terraincontact A/Ts?? I have about 10k miles on my Sequoia with them and no deep snow, but towing a travel trailer and a random off road trip or two and I'm pretty happy so far.
We have General tire AT2 and APT tires on our Ram 2500, 1500, and old Jeep ZJ. In the past I have not liked the on pavement behavior of Toyo tires. Off road Toyo's were excellent. The ride over rough pavement was good too. But the Toyo's tended to slip on dry pavement. I bought a 2020 Dodge Durango GT AWD with the Tow-N-Go package. The factory supplied all season Bridgestone RD 422 tires were good in the rain and on curvey mountain and canyon roads. The ride over rough pavement was mostly noisy and harsh. I needed a 3PMS tire. I live in California in the Mohave desert. And travel over mountain passes that tend to get icy at night and early mornings. Also I have friends and family in places like Washington state, Idaho, Northern Nevada, and Colorado. The only other 3PMS tire that fit on the 20" rims were from Falken. I like how rim protectors have added benefits in how the tire behaves. So the Toyo AT3 was really the only choice for my Durango. These tires are excellent! The coarse pavement ride is smoother and quieter. The ice handling is excellent. Never even considered putting on the traction devices. I didn't mind throwing away the Bridgestones after only 20,000 miles. And at the rate they were wearing. I probably could have gotten over 100,000 miles of use. By the way, our 2018 Ram 2500 Crewcab Tradesman 4wd 3.42 ratio Cummins powered beast. Gets about 22mpg @ 70mph on speed control. We do run the 5w40 Rotella T6 synthetic though. With a Wix air filter. It has less than 15k miles on it. Also runs the General APT 275/70-18 tires on the stock steel rims.
How did you guys find stopping in the winter? I have KO2's that I only use in the Summer. I found that they were great in the snow, until you tried stopping. I ended up getting dedicated Winter tires and put them on the OEM rims I had. That was much better.
I suppose the answer to that question is what do you expect in the way of stopping. For me, they are fine. Do they slide if you lock them up on snow - yes, but then what tire won't.
@@TruckKing well I guess its all relative. The K02's will take you right through an intersection if your not careful, compared to my winter tires, doing the same speed and stoping at the same pont. The reason I ask is because although the K02's have the winter snow flake, there are no siphons and a horrible tread pattern for exiting snow and slush. Those toyo's have a much better, more advanced tread pattern.
Another great video. On my new truck I bought im running the stocks because the tires are almost new. Looking into new tires for the future. I have a 2019 colorado lt. On my last trucks I used Mastercraft courser axt then later the new axt2. Didn't seem like I got great mileage out of them. Probably gonna try something else. I'm a little budget minded on tires.
Sad to see that the yellow dot on the outside wall is not aligned with the valve as recommended by the tire manufacturer . When tires are installed randomly by careless tire shops like in your case will lead to add more unnecessary weights to properly balance the tire which will increase the chances of loosing some of them and your tire is instantly unbalanced . I have the AT II's and planning to upgrade to AT III's soon , thanks for your review !
Can we get an update on how these are wearing? These AT3's are extremely similar to my Nitto Exo Grapplers in so many ways. Both are an all terrain designed to provide longevity and decent performance in all conditions. I'm at about 8/32nd left on my Exo Grapplers with 83k on them, towing a 7k lbs RV for about 20k km of that in BC and on FSR's a lot. I love my Grapplers but I felt the snow performance was so so compared to my Bros KO2's even though Grapplers got 3-Peak Snowflake, especially after the about 35k wear. The mud performance on FSR's got pretty bad after about 20k km on them. I feel like these At3's will beef up the snow performance due to the tread pattern redesign and everyone saying how good they are, but unclear on mud since I can't tell if there is more spacing between the tread and different tread patterns compared to my Exo Grapplers. Any thoughts from Truck King or anyone else?
Great tires all around with the best wet traction (IMO) out of all the LT tires in the market today. just got a new set on my 4th gen bighorn about 4k miles ago and swapping out the trail grapplers on my gen 5 Laramie sport today. They are definitely quitter at any speeds and lighter. i just wish they had a more aggressive sidewall.
Memories of riding with dad and listening to him go on about tires and trucks. Thanks TK for reminding me of the little things.
Seeing you brake into the apex of a turn, at decent speed, with snow on the ground, going downhill, towing load, onto a narrow bridge is what sold me. If you have the confidence to do that, then I have the confidence to buy them!
No kidding that’s asking for it .
The 4Runner will naturally be a bit better in the snow because it has more weight in the back. Which are more aggressive looking?
Very helpful, thank you!
@battleborn what load rating did you go with?
wonder which is going to wear the best.. size for size the toyo typically price higher around here.
Was gassing up today and told the owner of the garage I was thinking of buying some General Grabbers and he recommended these and I value his opinion so here I am! Thanks for the review.
My step dad says about his older Cummins “if I could throw a rope around the moon, I could pull it from the sky”. Lol
Lol'
I put these AT3s on my Highlander AWD and coming from street tires they are awesome in the mud, went from getting stuck to not even spinning a tire, still slips and slides in the messy mud but I doubt mud tires would stop that. So far I am impressed with them my mpg did drop about 2mpg but for off road traction thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
The comment about whether you would spend your hard earned money on something is why I subscribe to your channel. I don’t want to just watch a 10 minute commercial or infomercial.. I want honest opinions good or bad. Well done.
thanks RJ - its true, I've worked for my money all my life, I'm always conscious of how its spent. Plus; I taught the boys. Howard
Absolutely love mine! My truck hunted in 4 western states last fall. Flawless performance. I am running them in a 35x12.50R17’s
Bad ass tires
I’ve got the exact same setup on my truck I agree with that
I have the same tires on our 2022 Jeep Cherokee and I love them and not to mention the stopping distance at high speeds in the snow it’s truly amazing and I’ve been a semi truck driver for 28 years all kinds of weather. Get the Toyo it’s truly amazing
Nice job on the review and it was very kind to let Stephen have a cameo appearance, especially after he was upstaged by his brother in the last one!
Interesting. I'll be watching as the seasons change.
Yes. Winter fuel does reduce fuel economy. Assuming tire size is the same, another thing to consider is tire weight.
I've taken my AT3s across country and back, in snow, dirt, rock crawling, etc. AMAZING tires.
5000 miles = 1/32nd lost tread in the front, 2/32nd lost in the rear.
@@HAHA.GoodMeme wear also depends on your truck load of course.
Great to hear!
I’m looking to put these on my 2020 Tacoma OR. How have them performed now that it’s 2 years later? Thanks.
I plan on getting these tires in may
@@gfgneo Appreciate the heads up
The AT2s sucked donkey butt in the snow as well.
Mud tires are junk on winter roads though.
I was already planning on getting a set of these soon, for a new Ram 1500 Classic, good to know they’re all they’re said to be, and good in winter weather too. Thanks guys!
Glad I could help
Just pulled the trigger on a set of LT285 75 17 for my Bronco because of your winter review. My General ATX weren’t cutting it last year
Nice tires ! I'll check them out next time I'm shopping for tires . Btw @00:57 see that yellow circle stamped on the side wall ? That's supposed to be lined up with the valve stem of the wheel for optimal balancing . Who ever installed your tires is a rookie !
Good to know - I'll be sure to poke my son about it.
couldn't wait for these tires last year so i bought the Continental Contact Terrain AT and couldn't be happier with them ..
How is the road noise with them there King?
@@ramrider1453 with the best riding truck around id say almost like stock..very quite and handles awesome in all weather.😁
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS Cool. Good to know. I got the BFG All Terrian. Good tire in snow that for sure. A tad road noise but is t to bad.
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS I was going to buy the Continentals. and then I saw this video....ua-cam.com/video/FaAwQiDd2Z8/v-deo.html and backed off.
I only have 900km on my 295/70r18 toyo open country at3's. They are on my 2021 silverado 2500hd and so far I love this tire
Good info - thanks
Appreciate the 411 👍🏼💪🏼🇺🇸
Pops just adds that extra bit of badassedness to this channel, great job as always!
Glad u like them I got a set of 285... they was a tad noisy but not the 265
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with mine for now.
That 2500 in dark red with night edition looks so damn majestic!
Just curious about specifically the tires snow performance?
thanks for the feedback - will be more specific in future.,
I have a 2013 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition, and in late December replaced the OE model Bridgestone Dueler HT with a set of stock size (P rated) General Grabber ATX.
Seems like everyone raves about the ko tires and the falken wildpeaks. I have to say I'm really happy with the Grabber Atx's
How is the noise level on those compared to stock highway tires?
They might be just a tad louder but still very quiet.
I run those tire on my Subaru in Colorado and they’re great!!
Thanks Greg
I was going to buy some Wildpeaks myself but got the Toyo AT3's for $65/tire less.
How do you like the coopers? How do they handle in the snow? Cheers from Edmonton.
Great video. I’m in Canada and considering running these all year round too. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Carlo - do me a favour. Send a quick note to hey@truckking.ca - that way I have your email and we can talk. Howard
I do 99% hwy. Had AT in the past now back to hwy tires. Better fuel economy and wet road stopping distance with the hwy tires.
I hear you about road noise it tends to be high on my list. That shoulder looks interesting on that tire and a good warranty well that is a plus. I am looking into tires for next year....I will check them out
Morning Howard!! The only truck tires I had were off 70s Wrecker..the old knobby tires..used them on my 78'Olds..they threw off my fuel gauge reading..car looked jakked up at the back😎This was 2000'
I love mine fantastic in the mud and snow and not bad in the rain or hwy
The tires affect the fuel economy, sure. But if you switched to these tires on November like you said there are also the winter conditions to take into account. At least to my experience the fuel economy is always worse during the winter, espicially if you have to start the engine without preheating it first.
Good point. I only have the last three months to look at - come summer though I will check the consumption again.
Okay it has been a year, how are they holding up?
That 1mpg difference: that's exactly why manufacturers put on highway tires from the factory
No shit?
Thank you for the video🙌. You guys are awesome at these reviews. I cant wait to see a leader board on tire reviews.
something to think about. thanks
Thanks for the review. Just about to pull the trigger on a set of these in stock size for my Tacoma trail edition.
Great informative video guys. I just ordered these tires and cannot wait!
I bought these tires the second day they were out last year. My long-term opinion is highly favorable. The only thing I haven't experienced is snow. Otherwise, they are amazing, on and off-road. I run 35/12.50/R17.
Thanks for sharing!
BEST tires I've owned!
Just got these tires for my outback wilderness. Getting them put on this week. Can't find any info on them being tested on the wilderness yet.
I'm also looking at these tires, are you planning on doing a long term update on them?
I have on the channel. Currently have 45K - kilometres on them and they have been good.
I wonder if your mileage change coincided with winter mix diesel, which I believe to be less efficient.
That certainly is possible. Next year I'll have to compare my August and December numbers
You look like an older dude version of the tfl dude .... oh never mind he’s with you on the ride ... awesome! Typing while watching 🤣😂🤣
What did you end up getting?
I put on my leveled 2011 Ram sport 1500. 285/60/20. Had Since October 2020. They outshine the ko2 in every way. My only complaint would be that they grab gravel, but they rock. They work good in the snow!
What are you running for psi?
@@Godfather-jd3kx 38 to 40 psi. Had on for over a yr, and still look and feel new. Best tires
@@Humborg1 Thanks! I just put the same size on my 14 ram 1500 and they float on the highway. Still trying to dial in the psi. I'll drop them down some more. Running around 43. I'm hoping they just need some break in.
@@Godfather-jd3kx hope u like as much as I do. They have a deep tread so they do float on me to at high speed passing situations. Great tires.
Yep I have these on my Cummins dually rear wheel drive and it’s unstoppable in the snow
Sure
Thanks for the review! These AT3s will be my next tire. I'm currently running Goodyear Duratracs and( 40 000km on them) had BFG KO2 before than (50 000km). The Goodyears are better offroad especially in mud, they are wearing better than the KO2, but Duratrac is extremely loud. This new Toyo I have high hopes for.
Did you switch to toyos yet?
I put 60,000 miles on my AT2’s and they still had plenty of tread left I hope these AT’3 hold up just as well...
So far I'm happy with them.
I had the AT 2's on my 17 Land Crusier and had over 100km when I sold it, with zero problems. Looked to have about 35% tread left at that time
Have you guys had a chance to review/test the Continental Terraincontact A/Ts?? I have about 10k miles on my Sequoia with them and no deep snow, but towing a travel trailer and a random off road trip or two and I'm pretty happy so far.
Not yet!
I have these on my 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe and I love them. Very good traction and stopping power.
Good video - looking forward to the updates as the miles roll up.
Getting some tomorrow! Thanks
Great info - Thanks
I put these on my 2019 durango..they handel awesome..driving in deeper snow is fun and they are quite
Thinking about buying some Toyos for my truck and I found this video very helpful. Nice review.
Glad it was helpful!
I ran the older version of this tire on a 13 raptor and 17 f250 ,no problem wears well.
My son did it. Wait till Sunday dinner, Ha!
I just put a set of AT3 on my 4Runner and have really enjoyed them.
great review, thanks I'm looking at a smaller version and was wondering what the best PSI is for front and back for a 255/60r18?
I did do an update (along with the rest of the truck) about six weeks ago. Look for it on the channel.
@@TruckKing I checked it out. Thanks! Any comments on mud performance?
@@sonsoffishes1 Never had it "off-road", so no. Just regular dirt and snow. Works well

These tires remind me of my general grabber AT2's. Great tires, so if these are anything like my grabbers, they are going to serve you well.
